  1. I can tell you that I left the profession because I could not afford to remain a teacher. I still tutor kids, so I guess you could say I am still teaching in some way, but it'd take a lot more money than I was making to get me back into a classroom with 40 students and several hundred politicians.
  2. LOL. I do that, but the radio volume is set on 2 (I'm a very light sleeper), and the condo next door is empty. I know there are clock radios that you can set to "weekdays only"... after seeing your post, I think I'll go buy one next payday, just to be sure I'm not bugging the people downstairs.
  3. Try this: http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/catformulas/RedCalCat.html. Available at Petco. I'm switching my cat over to it when he finishes up the current open bag. My dog's on Natural Balance and doing wonderfully!
  4. The trials sometimes cost money and are often difficult to unsubscribe from, since they all take your credit card in advance. It's hard to find eight people willing to hand out their credit card on the internet for a trial they don't really want. Honestly, you're better off just buying the iPod.
  5. I've never had trouble finding a motel 6 or something when I want to stop along the central coast, and if they don't have a room, they can usually direct you to someone else who does.

    Pwned?!

Yep. When facing Nefarian (giant dragon) in Blackwing Lair (really hard area of World of Warcraft) and your entire guild (group of many players who band together to kill bigger and badder things) wipes (everybody dies), and you're all typing really fast to discuss how completely and totally you just got your asses kicked, instead of typing "OMG owned!" it comes out "OMG pwned!" (pronounced "poned") so it's easier to just type pwned in the first place because then your misspelling is intentional.
  7. The route is still valid, and is probably the most direct route currently.
  8. Could you drop us a PM before giving out the address so we can make sure it's someone we're okay with? I'm okay with pretty much anyone here, but having had a stalker, I understand the concern.
  9. How is she not having an immune reaction to her own tissue, then?
  10. $2 a day. I had to drive to get it and will have to take it back, but just to see the contentment on my dog's face this morning it's worth it.
  11. I think your job and your life are as stressful as you allow them to be. My last job was full of crises. My boss and I reacted two different ways. She panicked, freaked out, stressed out, and handed the project to me because she didn't want to deal (even though the projects were WAY beyond my job description and what I was supposed to be doing). I made the phone calls to find out what was required, sat my butt down, and got it done without procrastination. My stress level was significantly less than hers, just because I reacted differently and dealt with issues rather than freaking out about them. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think it's not the job that makes things stressful, it's the person's reaction to the job, and that's different for everyone.
  12. No it's not. CCW is the name of the license/permit. You can choose to apply for one, but you can't choose to HAVE one. That choice is up to the county/state that grants it.
  13. Just sell the pan on Ebay when you're done.
  14. What it seems like you're missing is that criminals will always be able to get weapons, because they're criminals and obtain things on the black market, just like they do drugs. The "war on drugs" has been a colossal failure, and a "war on guns" won't be any different. Outlawing them will simply create an environment where only criminals will have weapons. Since we can't disarm criminals, we need to address the reasons the crime is happening, and permit people to protect themselves, because when you need help in seconds, the police are minutes away.
  15. It was in a research paper from the US Dept. of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics. I provided a link some time back. Could you link it again?
  16. There are lots of reasons people don't have guns. Do I know your reason? No. I don't really care what your reason is, either. It's not my business why you choose not to arm yourself. It's your choice, and the second amendment says you have that choice.
  17. I've seen that 300,000 number from you before, and I can't figure out where you're getting it.
  18. Kallend- I seriously doubt there will be any weapons that are stolen or borrowed by roommates. Mainly because the vast majority of college students are not of age to purchase a handgun, so the number of guns in the hands of actual students will be very low. I support concealed carry on campus because it will have the effect of allowing teachers and staff to arm themselves if they wish. If a school wanted to deny concealed carry to their undergrads, and allow it only for grad students, teachers, and staff, that would be an improvement.
  19. Because most people would rather get mugged than killed. Now I know some people will say that they would rather have the option of stopping the mugger with a gun. Which is certainly a valid point. However, the data shows that option carries with it a higher risk of being killed. In the end I would rather have a slightly higher chance of getting mugges with a significatly lower chance of getting killed over the opposite. Where are you getting your statistics? I got mine from the National Crime Victimization Survey. Your chances of being injured in a robbery or assault if you defend yourself with a gun, or if you do nothing: Any Self Protection with gun: Robbery: 7.7% Assault: 3.6% No Self Protection measures: Robbery: 23.6% Assault: 55.2% I'll take my chances with a gun.
  20. Don't I feel stupid! Thank you No problem. Most of the time we can't catch our own typos/errors because our brain fills in what ought to be there instead of what actually is. Sometimes you just need a second set of eyes to look it over.
  21. You've got "Caribbean" misspelled as "Carribean" in about five places. Also, the swirly pattern at the right of the logo makes the palm tree look like it has tentacles. Other than that, I like it. It's easy to navigate, and the bright colors work well.
