  1. I agree. Gun control laws are, for the most part, out of control. For some reason the democrats seem to want to ignore the second amendment, and the republicans recently seem to want to forget about the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth, and tenth.
  2. I have no problem with a private university restricting events or speeches on their private property. Public universities should be a more open forum, as they are funded with taxpayer money.
  3. I think GWB has demonstrated a track record of curtailing personal freedoms. A few examples: 1. the patriot act. yes, our representatives voted for it, but Bush seems to be its strongest advocate. 2. his advocacy of an anti gay marriage amendment 3. his anti-choice statements about abortion 4. his advocacy of holding people without enough evidence for a trial with regards to suspected terrorism
  4. When I sent my order in to bev suits, I sent an email with jpgs to show the colors. Bev doesn't have a color design program on her site, so I took the picture of the suit on the order form, cropped it to show just the suit rather than the whole form, and colored it in with the fill tool in MSPaint. Took me about ten minutes. When I called a day or so later to ask a question about the lining, the person I spoke with thanked me for the pictures and commented that it made it easy for them to see exactly what I wanted. When I got the suit a few weeks later, it was perfect, exactly like the pictures, and just what I wanted.
  5. Hitting water at 120 mph would be like hitting a brick wall.
  6. I think Hilary would be bad... I think GWB is worse. I don't think Hilary could win an election, but she could be a viable VP candidate if paired with a true moderate as a running mate. Economics-wise, I think Hilary is too far to the left, especially when it comes to health care. However, I would choose freedom of personal actions and thought over economic freedom and the ability to decide where my money goes. If I were forced to make an either-or choice, I feel that GWB is a threat to personal freedom, moreso than Hilary is a threat to economic freedom. That said, in a race between Hilary and GWB, I'd probably vote for a third party candidate such as Michael Badnarik. I'm sick of having to choose between the lesser of two evils.
  7. I'd vote for Hilary over GWB, but it wouldn't be a vote for Hilary, it would be a vote against GWB.
  8. If you can walk away from a confrontation that could turn violent, walk away. You never know, the other guy might be a better fighter than you are. Don't get into a physical fight unless you don't have another option.
  9. Sometimes the best revenge is sitting back and doing nothing and watching life bite them in the ass, knowing they did it all to themselves. When I was in college, I became friends with a girl in my dorm, and got to know her friends, who are really cool people. One day, we were hanging out and I saw this guy and commented that he was hot. Turns out that the guy was her ex boyfriend who she wanted back, and suddenly she saw me as competition. I'd never go after a friend's ex, especially if she wasn't over him. That's just not my style. She knew this, but her situation with this guy kept her from being rational, I think. So, she starts spreading really vicious false rumors about me to all our mutual friends, who, by this point, knew me better than that. They didn't understand why she would say such blatantly untrue things, and all she talked about was what an evil person I was. She never talked about anything else, and they got damn sick of hearing it! The entire time this is going on, I didn't say one single bad thing about her. I took a look at the situation and realized I didn't have to say anything at all, because her actions were saying it all very clearly. So, I just sat back and watched as one by one, our friends stopped calling her and hanging out with her, with no prompting or influence on my part. They just got sick of hearing nothing but bitching from her. These people are still my friends, eight years later, and she still hates me and blames me for "stealing her friends." Anytime a mutual friend or acquaintance runs into her, she goes off on how I "ruined her life". It's been eight years, and she's still fixated on it. LMAO! The only thing I ever did was be nice. She did it all to herself and she can't see it. If someone is a nasty, spiteful person, eventually karma will happen to them. Of course, it's best when you can make popcorn, put your feet up, sit back, and watch.
  10. I quit a full time job to go to full time law school. Don't regret it so far.

    WoW?

Clownburner has a 60 Mage on Kel'Thuzad. I have a 57 rogue on Kel'Thuzad, but I like Everquest2 better, so I've mostly been playing that.
  12. No, I wouldn't. I promised my dad that I would always use an AAD back when I first started jumping, and I keep my promises.
  13. Glad you caught him. They can be tricky little critters. I had to de-coon Clownburner's attic a while back when one took up residence. Cute, but vicious when cornered.
  14. Hehe... I couldn't see a damn thing without my glasses, so I just aimed for the nearest fuzzy blob.
  15. Well.... Even if the only true translation of the Bible must have been published in the "center of the world" which must be London because it's at 0 longitude... How do we know which translation published in London is the right one??? These were all published or translated in London: 1496 - Colet translation 1537 - Matthew Bible 1537 - Cloverdale second edition 1539 - "The Great Bible" published by Grafton and AKA "Crammer's Bible" 1539 - "Taverner's Bible" printed by Bydell 1592 - Governon Bradford's Bible, published by Christopher Barker 1611 - King James version 1822 - Gibson Bible 1825 - Troy Bible 1829 - Gibson Bible, Third Edition 1845 - Haydock's Bible 1847 - Wiseman's Bible, printed by Richardson 1872 - Rotherham Version, translated from Greek 1878 - revised Rotherham, published by Bagster 1897 - revised Rotherham, published by Allenson 1903 - Ferrar Fenton version "Holy Bible in Modern English" 1903 - Weymouth version "The New Testament in Modern Speech" 1913 - Moffatt version "The New Testament: A New Translation in Modern Speech" 1914 - E.E. Cunnington translation ""The New Covenant" 1917 - revised Moffett version, published by Hodder and Stoughton 1919 - revised Cunnington version, published by T. Foster Unwin 1926 - revised Cunnington version "The Western New Testament" 1935 - The Westminster Version, published by Longmans and Green 1948 - revised Westminster, published by Longmans and Green 1952 - Williams translation "The New Testament, a New Translation in Plain English" 1955 - Knox translation "The Holy Bible; a Translation from the Latin Vulgate" published by Burns and Oates 1958 - Phillips version "The New Testament in Modern English" published by SCM 1969 - Barclay translation published by Collins 1972 - revised Phillips version published 1995 - "Holy Bible: New International Version" (NIV) published by Hodder and Stoughton And those are just the ones I could find in fifteen minutes on Google. And... why London? Sure, it's on 0 longitude, but so is Bordeaux, France. Should we also look at Bibles published there?
  16. Phantom of the Opera Cats Ragtime Les Miserables Brigadoon Evita Miss Saigon Beauty and the Beast Fiddler on the Roof Chicago Guys and Dolls Threepenny Opera There's a lot of others I haven't seen but like the music: Tell Me on a Sunday Camelot Chorus Line Lion King (saw the movie tho) and a bunch of others I can't think of right now.
  17. 5:15:XX 5 pounds of whipped cream pies 15 jumps XX cases of beer owed for Rantoul...not sure how many firsts there, but I bought a lot of beer.
  18. I just got back from WFFC. The landing area was about as busy and chaotic as a busy day at Perris. Not bad at all. I went thinking I wasn't going to jump because I'd heard all these stories about how insane it was, but after evaluating the landing area and traffic, I ended up doing 15 jumps.
  19. I took a class on second language acquisition for my master's degree, and the teacher used Esperanto to illustrate the teaching methods he was demonstrating. He wanted to pick something nobody would know, because if you already knew what you were supposed to be learning, it wouldn't be as good an example. I remember enough to recognize what language it was and a few of the words, looked up the others, and took a guess at the one I couldn't identify.
  20. It's Esperanto. I think it says "I jump because perfectly good airplanes do not exist" but I'm not sure that "airplane" is the right translation of "avioj" (I thought that airplanes was "aeroplanoj"), but, given the context and it's similarity to the Esperanto word for aviation (aviado), I took a guess.
  21. hehe... told ya you'd love it!
  22. Sure. "Both sides should be properly taught." The theory of evolution should be taught in science classes, where it belongs, in the proper context, along with the other scientific theories, such as string theory and relativity. The ideas of the bible, creationism and intelligent design should be taught in social studies, sociology, religious studies, or history classes, in the proper context, along with other religious teachings and mythology, such as Islam's Koran and Hindu's Vedas. Course, I don't think that was exactly what Bush meant...
