  1. Chances are, it will function at a level similar to current microsoft offerings.
  2. Nope. I'm probably going to Cambodia, not Morocco.
  3. When I do a pin/gear check, I do this, in the same order: 1. 3 rings properly routed 2. chest strap properly routed 3. cutaway and reserve handles secure in the velcro 4. legstraps properly adjusted 5. reserve pin and AAD on (if accessible) 6. main pin 7. bridle routing/pilot chute cocked 8. pilot chute secure inside pouch and not hanging too far out 9. main hackey accessible and not tucked inside pouch. I always go in the same pattern, starting from the top front and working down, then starting at the top back and working down. I find keeping the same pattern every time makes sure that I don't forget anything. I've never caught a misrouted bridle, but I have caught misrouted 3 rings and loose chest straps.
  4. What about an audible set at the student's hard deck? They should've pulled long before then, so reliance wouldn't be an issue, but an audible shrieking in their ear may prevent a cypres fire or remind a student to stop fussing with a mal and chop the thing.
  5. Does your lease allow you to do that? Many leases are non-transferrable, because landlords want control over who is in their building.
  6. I think most are really out there to help people, but the few bad ones give them all a bad rap, because you hear about "police brutality" and all that on the news, but you don't hear about the off-duty cop out of state who stops to help at a traffic accident when he could've just kept driving and continued with his vacation.
  7. Because, just like micro-bikinis, unless you're a model, it's impossible to look good in them.
  8. Perris = Big, soft circle of freshly plowed dirt, plus nice man in truck to come get you so you don't have to walk back. Swoopers either over at the pond or on the grass, either way, out of the student circle. Sometimes hard to find someone to jump with if you're new. Perris gets so many new faces. You have to ask to be pointed towards the LOs, but you'll have a great time once you find them. Also, wind tunnel. Elsinore = bad rotors if the wind is from the wrong way, ankle high brush if you don't land on the grass, more experienced jumpers landing on the grass. Sometimes no LOs, but you can usually find someone to jump with if you ask around. Really friendly dropzone, welcoming to newbies.
  9. Well, Clownburner has some kind of ketchup prejudice and is always making faces when I put ketchup on a burger, but other than that, I think the thing that gets me weird looks sometimes is putting cocoa powder (hershey's or nesquik) on vanilla ice cream instead of using chocolate syrup. It's something my mom did as a special treat when my bro and I were little. I think the strangest thing I've ever seen anybody eat would be my cousin Danny's strawberry, ham, mustard and powdered sugar sandwiches. With relish, if he could find it.
  10. No idea... but since they spammed me, they aren't a company I will do business with.
  11. Complain to the theater manager. Usually, the person will be spoken to, sometimes asked to leave, and you can get your money back. Works well for crying babies too.
  12. Well, chances are, an anti-gay population isn't going to overwhelm a dropzone during an advertized gay boogie. Seems like it's an opportunity for people to get together and not have to worry about what somebody's going to say if they give their SO a kiss pass. A few others have commented about the US constitution and "here in the US..." etc... um... isn't this boogie in Canada? What's the US constitution have to do with anything?
  13. Many doctors will match the 1-800-CONTACTS price. I told my doc I was going to order from there, and she actually beat their price by five bucks.
  14. Yes, there are wind and rotor problems at every DZ. They just seem to be particularly bad at Elsinore when the wind is coming over the buildings, and there's no reliable way to know wind direction when you leave home to drive to the DZ. I've got a big, lightly loaded canopy, and getting tossed around by rotors can be really scary, so sometimes the conditions at elsinore are beyond my comfort level. I love the people at Elsinore...I just don't like the air sometimes. I hope it will be better when the DZ moves.
  15. Tatu or Tatau, usually. You can find info here: http://samoantattoo.tattooing-piercings.com/ If you're considering a traditional tattoo, there can be significant risks: http://tattoos.com/jane/steve/polynesia_today.htm The Samoan ministry of health banned traditional tattoo tools, because they're so likely to transmit disease. Now they're using something similar to the prison style tattoo, made from electric shavers or walkman parts.
  16. Were there donations from Perris during the tunnel time over the weekend? I was thinking... There's already been a donation day at Elsinore. I wonder if Perris would be open to a Wigs on Fire event? Maybe even some of the whuffos that tend to circle around there watching their friends do tandems could be talked into donating, and by hitting both dropzones, people who only jump at one or the other have an opportunity to donate where it's convenient for them.
  17. Those buildings create very big rotors if there's a decent wind. There's been a few times I thought I was far enough away, but was still feeling them on landing. Don Simonds was the one I was thinking of, and I've heard of a few others. However, I didn't know them, so I didn't remember the names. If they're moving further away from the buildings, I'd love to start jumping at Elsinore again. I've just found landing there to be a bit beyond my comfort zone.
  18. I used to love jumping at Elsinore. However, they've put in some 3-4 story buildings right next to the dropzone. when the wind comes from that direction (and it does quite often), landing can be really dangerous because they can get very bad rotors. I know too many people who've been injured because of that. When the wind comes from that direction, you can either risk the rotors, or land halfway to the lake and have a long hike back.
  19. LOL. It'd be nice if I could post one where I'm actually wearing make-up.
  20. Always put in and take out a certain lens first... If you're going to take your lenses out, always take out the right one first (or left one, if you choose), because you get into a pattern, and it keeps you from getting your lenses mixed up.
  21. I've gotta get Clownburner to take some more pics. The only one I've got is pretty bad lighting.
  22. Better to ignore them, I think, than to give them a soapbox via a trial.
