  1. Abstainence does not solve the problem of unplanned pregnancy if the woman is raped. An unplanned pregnancy isn't always because a woman was irresponsible, or stupid, as others have implied.
  2. Saying this, and proving it beyound a reasonable doubt in a court of law are definitely two entirely different things. You don't have to prove a civil case "beyond a reasonable doubt." That's only for criminal cases, and defamation is civil, not criminal.
  3. Um...no. If something is true, it is by definition not libelous or slanderous. It has to be false for it to be libel or slander. And last I checked, they were torts, not felonies.
  4. Yep. Irvine Medical just tried to bill me $400 that my insurance had ALREADY PAID. Took me about two hours on the phone with them and the insurance company to get it straightened out.
  5. No, I don't get worked up. Mostly, SC is good for a laugh, and it can be a way for me to examine my own points of view so I can state my position clearly. I like being challenged on my views, because it gives me the opportunity to examine them from a point of view that I may not have thought about.
  6. I'd help the kids, but that's probably because I've had a lot of training about how to deal with crisis situations. I wouldn't think any less of someone who turned tail and got out, mainly because if they're not emotionally capable of assisting in an emergency, best for them to get out of the way so the people doing something about it don't have to deal with them too.
  7. in my experience (which isn't much, but I've had more bad landings than good ones) if you flare too early, you fall on your face, and if you flare too late, you land on your ass.
  8. So now I can't have my opinion? Wow Nbody's saying you can't have your opinion. They're saying that you can't force other people to comply with your opinion.
  9. The camo one makes me dizzy. I like the third one, but it might look better on video with grey on the booties instead of red, and maybe grey on the forearms, because the booties look a little out of place being the only thing different (besides grippers).
  10. Because making abortion legal for rape and incest only reqires making a report of the rape or incest, and encourages people to file false reports to obtain abortions.
  11. What would you tell your twelve year old daughter who's just been raped and found out she's pregnant?
  12. What's really scary is that a rape victim who has the child of her rapist can end up in a custody battle with the rapist over rights to the child. Yes. It does happen, especially if the rapist has gotten out of jail and claims to be "reformed".
  13. Well, I think my answer was logical, based on my desire to be a parent. Honestly, even if I were raped, I'd still have the baby, because again, I want to be a parent, and the baby and the father are not one and the same. If I found that I couldn't form an emotional bond with the child because of the circumstances, I'd arrange for adoption because I don't want to risk my future fertility by having an abortion. It's a chance that I don't want to take, and that's my choice. My choice. Nobody else's. I'd probably have a very different reaction if I were twelve years old. Just because some children are physically mature enough to get pregnant doesn't mean that the pregnancy wouldn't be really risky, or that the child would be able to handle it emotionally. Would you want your twelve year old daughter to take that kind of risk to have a baby that she's not physically or emotionally ready for? What about the social stigma of being pregnant so young? She'd either have to explain she was raped to everyone who looked at her, or she'd have to put up with having a reputation as a slut. Unless she explained everything to everybody at school, which would require talking about the rape over and over, she'd lose friends, parents wouldn't want their kids hanging out with her, and a bad reptuation might even extend to the few friends that might stick by her. As if dealing with the emotional trauma of a rape wasn't enough, would you really want to put her through all that?
  14. Well, my answer is that I want kids. If I happen to get pregnant, I might as well have the baby, because I want kids (and it's usually never the "right" time), and because having an abortion can affect future fertility.
  15. I find it interesting that the state could not find a single person with a medical license to assist.
  16. Someone who was raped does not have the opportunity to "think of that the night before."
  17. I don't think it's so far off... I've actually heard someone going through IVF say "if people would stop aborting babies, I wouldn't be doing this." (implying that if there were more adoptible babies, she would adopt rather than do IVF)
  18. Anencephaly = no brain. No brain = no chance. A few others: Cyclopia = the brain doesn't divide properly. develops with only one eye, nose is a tube shaped thing above the eye. Cyclopia is "incompatable with life." Chances of survival are zero. Not "close to zero", but ZERO. Exencephaly = a condition in which the brain is located outside of the skull. This condition is usually found in embryos as an early stage of anencephaly. As an exencephalic pregnancy progresses, the neural tissue gradually degenerates. The defect is incompatible with survival.
  19. This is probably a really dumb question, but what the heck does Britain want with the six counties anyway? I've been doing a lot of reading about it, and I haven't been able to find out what the British actually get out of keeping them.
  20. Looks like the designer used a stock photo and didn't realize what it was. I have a flag at home that my dad and I got to raise up the mast on the Missouri. It really is an incredible ship...it just isn't Russian.
  21. It makes me very worried. Personally, I would never have an abortion unless my life was in danger, but that's my choice, and it's my right to make that choice. I would never take the choice away from someone else, just because I wouldn't make the same choice they would.
  22. Microsoft's is just worse than average.
  23. Katee, go to the doctor. NOW. If you go tonight and it's nothing, I'll buy you a jump ticket.
