Here are the 12-steps. What is your feeling on this? I have a friend who has been in one for the last month or so. He is very close to me and I am very disappointed that he could not control his alcohol or drug use that he now needs to admit he is powerless. He called me about a few weeks ago and talked to me for more then an hour. I realized I held my opinions to my self and just gave him support. Now I feel like I am a fraud, I am always honest with my friends. I have lost friends because I was honest with them, but this time I didn’t say anything. I feel like I should have told him how I feel but then again I am not an addict. Why don’t we try to teach people discipline? If you commit to this 12 steps group what are you achieving? If you have ever seen the South Park episode when Stan’s dad joins a 12-step program that’s the way I feel about it. Specially the point that if you spend you’re whole life avoiding something it still has power over you. The big If/what that keeps me from being honest with my friend is I don’t know if it is truly a disease or not? I think a cold or cancer is a disease not drinking or smoking too much, but if it is really a disease I don’t want to be responsible for him spiraling out of control. People i still keep in touch with Not only are they allowed to worship as they wish, they are allowed to make alcoholic beverages for there own use. No Muslim is given that right because are religion prohibits that but the Christian religion is respected so they are allowed to make as much as they wish. Also the local state run TV always wishes Christians a happy holiday and speaks of Jesus in a much more respected way then it is offthen done here in US. I am with Chris on this one. I felt that way twice in my life. Once it was lust and the more I got to know the person the less interested I became. I did tell her exactly how I felt and she did shoot me down. It was a good thing at least you know where you stand. The 2nd time. It was much harder. I knew her very well and she is one of my best friends. So the risk of losing a friend, and we work together as well. So all no no’s. But I told her how I felt as well. I figured anything is better then not knowing. I can honestly say she probably never thought about me in that way. We have been together for two years and I have known her for 6. Never been happier. Relay happy you know. When you love someone that you don’t even sweat the small stuff. I love hanging out with her and spend everyday together. We work very well and we play very hard. Just make sure you know your feelings well also. That they will not fade and that they are focused on who she is. To have those strong feelings for someone it should be based on something deep. Yep I was there in 1998 and lived there from 1991-1998, and my Bro. just came to the US from there about 2 weeks ago. It is a very nice place, great people, and a lot of history. The current government is a religious one so as long as you respect their culture you will be fine. Last year I was working with a relatively new Iranian immigrant (BTW ... he was a very nice intelligent person). When asked why he is in Canada instead of Iran, his response was because he disliked the direction that Iran's ruling leaders have taken these last few decades.
