  1. Do you think they even want to vote? If they do then they can. Pretty simple AFAIK. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  2. Did you invite them for dinner? Or have dinner at their house? Did you praise them? Are you attempting to become the leader of the most powerful nation on earth? I realize you don't care about that type of stuff. As evidenced by the tightening polls, many do. Myself included. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  4. We;re getting a bit closer.... http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/29/mccain-slams-la-times-double-standard-withholding-obama-khalidi-tape/ refusing to release a videotape that the newspaper's editors say shows Barack Obama praising a Chicago professor who served as a spokesman for the Palestine Liberation Organization when it was a U.S.-designated terror group. And this from back in April... http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-obamamideast10apr10,0,1780231,full.story A special tribute came from Khalidi's friend and frequent dinner companion, the young state Sen. Barack Obama. Speaking to the crowd, Obama reminisced about meals prepared by Khalidi's wife, Mona, and conversations that had challenged his thinking. At Khalidi's going-away party in 2003, the scholar lavished praise on Obama, telling the mostly Palestinian American crowd that the state senator deserved their help in winning a U.S. Senate seat. "You will not have a better senator under any circumstances," Khalidi said. Barry's list of "interesting" associations may not be damning but with very little else to go on it makes people wonder. And for the record I don't think the world will come to an end if he's elected. We'll all still get up on Weds. and do the same thing we did on Tues. OTOH, if he's defeated it could get interesting in the larger cities. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

    Oops!

Trent...very soon you'll see that folks like Bill and Kallend don't like law enforcement personnel and always assume the worst about them in any situation. Sad, really. They paint with a broad brush but will have kittens if anyone does it to them. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  8. You mean like the odor of everyone who jumped on the thread to defend Barry? So far we've managed to tie in PeeWee, Osama, Rummy, Liddy, Kagan, et al. Problem is we all know about those people. We know what they did and their agenda at the time. And the list gets one name longer Wright Ayers Rezco Jones Pfleger Kahlidi Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  14. Obama, Ayers and Rashid Khalidi: Why won’t The L.A. Times let us view the tape? http://voices.kansascity.com/node/2584 The Los Angeles Times has a video tape of a 2003 farewell party for Rashid Khalidi, a university professor who was a spokesman for the Palestine Liberation Organization and Yasser Arafat but they won’t let us see it. Why? What don’t they want us to see? Attending the event was Barack Obama and that unrepentant terrorist, what’s his name…..you remember that guy Obama doesn’t pal around with? Oh yeah, William Ayers and Ayers' wife. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  15. That doesn't read quite right. So they couldn't come up with fraud before they changed the law or after? I think their law is pretty fair and "common sensical". http://www.in.gov/sos/photoid/ If voting is to be seen as one of our sacred rights, some measures to make sure we are eligible are reasonable. yes "my" writting wa's unklear!!!!! The state GOP was asked to justify their bill to change the law "to prevent vote fraud", and they were unable to come up with a single case of vote fraud under the old law. Changed the law anyway, because their real motivation was to disenfranchise poor people. I'd be interested in learning how, in the 2008 someone wouldn't have a Federal or State ID. It's not like it's impossible to do, or even that difficult. If you really want to cast a vote in Hoosierland, or any other state that will eventually have this requirement...just get an ID! Please help me understand how this disenfranchises anyone. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  16. Really? I pay plenty of tax and I'm definitely in the middle class. News flash. If you own an aircraft and collectible cars you are most definitely not middle class in this country. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  17. [REPLY]those that involve investment in better healthcare for the poor, better schools in inner cities, and better training for the unemployed. I think most would agree that it has to be about education in this country. But the things you mention already exist. Throwing more money at these problems is a waste. You can lead a horse to water.... I'll agree to a redistribution of wealth spent on making certain everyone who wants a higher education gets one at no charge. State schools in Ohio are running $19-20K per year. Private institutions are double that number. I know there's grants and scholarships already but once again, if you make over X dollars you're out of the loop. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  18. ..take over from Harry Reid if Barry is elected? I think there might be a deal in the works. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  19. What do you think "economic justice" means? Most commonly I've encountered the term with respect to siting polluting industries near low-income areas. Higher income areas rarely have been the location for coal-fired power plants, waste incinerators, medical waste incinerators, water pollution, and location of offending industries, e.g., hog farming. The latter two are as common or more commonly rural poor (rather than inner city) issues. (NB: more recent environmental regulations have significantly decreased many/some of these, sometimes at greater cost to the producer.) The consequences of those citings has been increased incidence of deleterious health effects: asthma, certain cancers (generally fatty tissue ones and certain childhood cancers), and other diseases. Point: there are real, physical consequences. The risk is not distributed ... either. VR/Marg According to the Center for Economic and Social Justice http://www.cesj.org/thirdway/economicjustice-defined.htm Economic justice, which touches the individual person as well as the social order, encompasses the moral principles which guide us in designing our economic institutions. These institutions determine how each person earns a living, enters into contracts, exchanges goods and services with others and otherwise produces an independent material foundation for his or her economic sustenance. The ultimate purpose of economic justice is to free each person to engage creatively in the unlimited work beyond economics, that of the mind and the spirit. I don't think that's what Barry was referring to. He was talking about the Civil Rights movement. Economic Justice w/r/t Civil Rights might mean reparations. Please don't dent the planet. 21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPpuXPPGT0A Since the original link was lost here it is again. Joe went on this show expecting some local fluff. SHe probably should have phrased the questions differently but the questions remain. Joe says the campaign never paid any money to ACORN. Lie. An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. -- a subsidiary of ACORN -- worked in ‘get-out-the-vote’ projects, instead of activities such as polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance reports filed during the primary.” (David M. Brown, “Obama To Amend Report On $800,000 In Spending,” Pittsburgh Tribune Review, 8/22/08) On several occasions Barry has said he wants to "spread the wealth around". Most folks know what that means. Class warfare...the oldest trick in the book. Middle class tax breaks? Getting back the tax breaks they used to have? I'm confused. Joe still hasn't explained what he meant when he said that we'll need to stick by Barry because it won't be obvious he's doing the right thing. It's plain to me Biden was not expecting those types of questions and got frustrated. When he gets flustered he falls back on the old DC twostep. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  22. Key words here...better education, training, and earn. Aren't those things already available? I don't think he said economic redistribution, he said economic justice. Who do you suppose doesn't have economic justice? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  23. There's no doubt about it Dave. But I don't need a Harvard sheepskin to know what redistribution of wealth and economic justice mean either. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  24. Wrong! The youtube was only so some who can't read would have something to refer too The written stuff is from the transcript. http://socialize.morningstar.com/NewSocialize/forums/thread/2584303.aspx But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf Define Redistribution of Wealth and how the SCOTUS would go about it. Obama is saying that the SCOTUS was NOT the way to go about it What is a negative liberty? The Bill of Rights are Negative Liberties. They are Negative Liberties because they list the areas in which the Federal Government is NOT allowed to intrude on you. As opposed to a Right in which you are entitled to some product or service to be provided to you from the government. What shoud the federal government do on your behalf? Obama only states that the Constitution does not have provisions for the Government to do things on your behalf. He does not say this is wrong & should be changed. If you look at the victories and failures of the civil rights movement and its litigation strategy in the court, I think where it succeeded was to vest formal rights in previously dispossessed peoples. So that I would now have the right to vote, I would now be able to sit at the lunch counter and order and as long as I could pay for it I’d be okay. But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society He thinks the SCOTUS was victorious in bringing rights to dispossessed people, but failed because it did not require redistribution of wealth and economic justice. WHether that's the place to do it or not is not important...HE THINKS IT SHOULD HAPPEN. Wake up! Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  25. Remove the social programs and government insurance from the discussion; When? The only reason it's not as bad as the depression of the 1930s is because we learned a thing or two. That aside, how much worse do you need it to become? The IMF states that there is a one-in-four chance that by the time this is over, the impact will be greater than the Great Depression, only this time it's a global impact rather than predominantly a local one. Finally...who's buying into the media portrayal? Dem's don't need to do this sort of hatchet job on McSame, because he's beyond attack. Why kick a loser when he's down? I know you're young and impressionable. I remember the Carter years, and it was much worse than this. Or perhaps the 70's when it got so bad Nixon imposed the wage and price freeze. Finally, this is no hatchet job. It's Barry's own words from 7 years ago. Doesn't that sand you've got your head buried in get in your eyes? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
