I was at Circuit City tonight buying my TiVo .... Saw the "Boston" CD (the original) for sale for $20.00 (OK, $19.99). Yeah.... right. - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

How about a swap for one that's a freshman in college? Oh, yes.... and the tab too. - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

Tae Kwon Do (duuuuhhhhh) - I still make it 3-4 times a week. Do a lot of point-sparring too (getting better as I'm not getting my ass kicked as much as I used to). It's funny to see us older "gentlemen" with creaking joints next to the teenagers trying to be as graceful/fast/coordinated as them... we just refuse to admit we're not 20 any more.... and save the hobbeling and groaning for when we get home and the younkie's aren't looking. Also love to snowboard (but still a newbie at that too). - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

That's a simple enough problem to solve - vote w/your dollar and don't buy that rag (1000s of subscribers are voting/cancelling) - why support a paper that is clearly biased? - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style." -

Let me rephrase: "Dude - you missed the point - whether the Nazi's ascension to power was a far-right initiative when it started out is no longer important. A coup d'etat is a hostile take-over by a faction without the people's involvement or consent. This is clearly not the case here; no, The Nazi party came to power democratically, with the full backing of a populace looking for strong leadership bearing simple, comforting answers to fears about the economy and the influx of foreigners". Don't think it can happen here? Neither did they. Do you think this is really about the popular will? Don't make me laugh. It's a cyncial manipulation of the public's insecurity and ignorance. Do you think Schwartzenegger is going to be the one making policy? Please... why do you think he met with Ken Lay already? And don't misunderstand me... the historical Nazi analogy has nothing to do with Schwarzenegger's national origin. ROTFLMAO... that was a stretch. Seriously though, that is a far stretch from where we are - and the argument when liberalism is threatened is to shout "nazi-ism"... and to think that most people ingnore that where we were going (and still are until, hopefully, changes are made) is clearly socialistic... There has to be a middle-ground - and that's where our form of democracy tends to keep us. Now we're starting to swing the other way and it's driving the socalists nuts. Dude - you missed the point - whether it was a far-right initiative when it started out is no longer important. The far right didn't get the people out in record numbers to clearly indicate that they believe this state is in dire jeopardy. And a coup d'etat is a hostile take-over by a faction without the people's involvement or consent. This is clearly not the case here. Uhhh... hello? I think democracy is exactly what was just demonstrated. The people have spoken. If they want to recall Arnold they have that right - but as bad a shape as this state is in I think there is little more he could do to make it worse than his predecessor did. p.s., and I'm not pro Arnold. I'm not a big fan of Arnold (except in the movies) but glad we're not where we were (IOW, anything is better than Davis). Maybe this is a sign of changes to come. While initially everyone was calling this a right-wing conspiracy - it was, in the end - the people that voiced their will. Too bad this fact will be forgotten quickly - and the "right-wing media interrupted the process" (talk radio, Fox News, etc...) and "they (right-wing conspirators) stole the office" chanting will prevail. Now - do I get a rebate on my Auto reg fees? - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style." -
We're all liberals... until/unless we start to make money in life. Adding your quote to mine - maybe it means that now that we can afford skydiving we just want to re-live our youth and look liberal. - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."
-
Why not do this as a Poll - that way we can "privately" vote our conscious... And a majority of skydivers are right of center??? DUDE! Which DZs are you jumping at! - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

John, Had a great time - this place is "disneyland" for skydivers... And my suit's cleaner now - landed 3 of the last 5 on my feet - I think I'm starting to get used to the new canopy. Next time you're in the bay area, checkout Skidive Monterey - Awesome views (when the fog's out). - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

Anyone out there a TiVo fanatic? I want to get a TiVo but neither DTV's or TiVo's customer service is very helpful when I ask for information on how to set-up which system to buy, etc... (please check out our web-page (which doesn't answer my questions)). I want to be able to have the home media option for MP3s and JPEGs, and also be able to record one channel and watch another from DTV. Any DVR fanatics providing input - would be greatly appreciated. TIA, - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

I have some video taken of a few of my dives. What do I need to take the video and capture it onto my computer? TIA, - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

I saw that thismorning - and then it went up $1.21 (3%) on above average volume... . - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

Anyway - I'll state my bias right up front - not only do I love the service, but I'm making a killing on this stock (NFLX - paid for my and my daughter's AFF many times over - consider this my disclosure that I do own this stock). So I don't fall too "in love" with the stock - because I use it the service and just love it, I figured the best way to find out a more "unbiased" view would be to take a poll and see how the average joe/jane rents movies. (Flaw in thinking - is anyone here average???) - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

night jump... what to expect ?
TaeKwonDoDo replied to jejejelle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What are the requirements (license, etc..) for doing a night jump? TIA, - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style." -
I found the thread and didn't understand what you had done to the suit to help you with your fall rate. I'm 190 and semi-built with what can be confused as a beer-gut too. I just ordered the "Comp" suit from BodySports and they won't be cutting fabric for a week or so still - anything I should tell them? I opted to not get the booties, btw... - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

Try Netflix - they rock. - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

Did three group jumps this weekend and I consistently fell faster than the rest of the people on the groups. I was able to slow my rate enough on the first one by "hugging the tree" but on #2 the guy could not catch up to me and I couldn't slow down enough. Any hints/tips here? thanks, - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

OMFG read, just watched real TV
TaeKwonDoDo replied to ifics's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I can't remember as this was several years ago when RTV first came out that I saw this. Pre SD for me, too - so I wouldn't have paid attention to the details. But if you have the tape, you know it's your duty to post it here for the world to see - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style." -

I saw one on RTV where the cameraman winds up with 2 useless balls of shit above his head. You see massive spinning - then it stops sideways in a field with the camera angle sideways looking out towards the road about 10-15' away from the field. A few second go by... The camera angle then changes to the horizontal position, then lifts up to a position about 5-6' above ground.... Then the camera starts bouncing up and down and back and forth and you can hear the cameraman saying "I'M ALIVE!!! I'M bleepbleepbleep ALIVE... WHOPWHOPWHOPP!!! I AM bleepbleep ALIVE!" Then the guy's buddies pull up and give huge high-fives and hugs amidst the chatter of "YOU ARE THE LUCKIEST M-bleep F-bleep IN THE WORLD". As it turns out, the field (according to the show) had been plowed a couple of days earlier and this guy landed in it just right on his side - 20 more feet to the right (the road) or a couple of days earlier (pre-plow) this video would have had a much different ending. Don't watch much RTV, but this one was amazing... - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style." -
I heard great things about "Secondhand Lions" as a family movie, so I went and took the wife and kids to the yesterday afternoon. Couldn't figure out what all the hubub was for - kept waiting for something to happen all the way till the credits started rolling. Nothing. A few bits of humor here and there, but weak story telling and you just kept waiting for something exciting to happen and the story to get moving - it never did. - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

1:2:0 1 Hour - spent by me talking to the ST&A at a new (to me) Drop Zone, for "allegedly " pulling too low - hey, the watch said 4K when I started tracking, but someone who opened before me (it was the DZO) said they didn't see my bag out till 2.5K. Wasn't going to argue - take the constructive criticism (which was done well, I might add) and move on. 2: My regular DZ was fogged out so late in the day I tried Adventure Center on the way home (it's acutually closer to me than SMB): 1 from 14K, and a sunset hop-and-pop (nice). 0: No beer this weekend (unless the pre-second jump at a different drop zone counts). - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."

I just travelled to AZ and back from SJ (weekend at SD AZ). They didn't even ask what was in my carry-on bag (which was significantly oversized, mind you) - but in case they did, I did have the papers. Shouldn't be a problem. IMRE - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."
