Which muppet(s) would you most like to skydive with ? .......
jceman replied to TheBile's topic in The Bonfire
My question exactly. But, I do believe he absolutely nailed waht the jump would be like! Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them? -
Don't surgecoat it Judy. The WFFC was denied Group Member status by USAP despite being recommended for membership by the applicable regional director. The reason given was "repeated BSR violations"; supposedly allowing the younger Mullins boys to partake in the boogie was one of the biggies. BS politics, pure and simple. Dave, Are you sure you're not confusing Tony Thacker with Gene Paul Thacker who's only comment in the candidate's statement read "One more time."? Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

BZZZZT! Wrong answer. Thank you for playing, please come back and play again sometime. A harpsichord creates music by plucking the strings, not by striking themwith a hammer like a piano. Nah, that's the answer to the universe, not the meaning of life. Wrongo, Mark. It is the answer to Life, The Universe and Everything. Better reread all five books of the trilogy. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

Yeah, as a matter of fact... I'm a Taurus too. So don't go gettin' all pushy with me. You know what will happen... Yeah? Well don't get started with me, Bytch! And if I can't handle you, I've got another Rat/Aries who'll kick both our sorry asses! Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Well my old friend said to me That I ain't being what I'm supposed to be Well I don't know. It could be true I know I wasn't always there for you And now you're ready to walk out You're ready to run Talk to me can't you see I would never want to do what it seems I've done You can't deal me the aces and think I wouldn't play don't let this be the reason you would walk away Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Guess it depends on how you define "tight". The targeted landing area was indeed narrow and slightly crosswind, but it was half a mile long! Plus there were safe landing areas on the other half of the airport that were used by those with more sense than bravado. The main problem was jumpers not following the posted traffic pattern or extending their downwind legs way too far. Of course, trying to get skydivers to listen can be like herding eels. dreamsville - it sounds more like a low turn to avoid an obstacle than turbulence. I could be wrong, I wasn't there and am just judging that on what the article said. Of course, the article was a little conflicting, also mentioning "air pockets" - which I assume they're talking about turbulence. Good guess, WB. We were watching this jumper (who had gone way too far downwind) flying in deep brakes and wondering why he didn't just let it fly, as he would have made it back to the airport even though just barely. We finally figured that he wasn't sure he'd make it so was heading for a very small yard just off the edge of the field. At the last second, it appearred he finally saw the power lines and made a radical turn to avoid them. Sounds all too familiar, doesn't it? Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Hope, ain't no American thing. All we have is a requirement for the A license that states we must be able to pack. It's some sort of European deal, believe somewhere in the Nordic regions. She makes you an offer that you can't understand. Lynn just walked in as I was picking myself off the floor, holding my sides 'cause they hurt from laughing -- I think she thought I'd had a heart attack or something! Sorry, Sunshine, but that one really rang a carrillon.

George and Erica collided under canopy after exiting from the Allouette. I do not know who was at fault; I've only hearsay to go on, so I will not pass that on. George's foot struck Erica straight on in the head hard enough to wrench his shoe off and give him a very sore foot. Erica was knocked out on impact despite wearing her full face helmet. Number of Jumps vs. pre-second visit to different DZ

Erica Brown has two non-displaced vertebral fractures with no neurological deficit. She was unconscious when she landed in the water and was rescued about two minutes after impact. She had of course aspirated more than a little water. The last report I have is from last night -- Erica was awake and responding to others, she recognized her friends and was aware that she was in an accident. She was asking to have the respirator tube removed and was doing well enough that they were going to do so last night. She was still in ICU because they have to be wary of aspiration pneumonia. If all went as planned, she should be in a regular bed now. Erica will have to wear a neck brace for a while but barring any complications she should recover fully. Lesson to be (re)learned here -- keep your head on a swivel and clear your airspace before manuvering your canopy! Lynn and I have known Erica since she was 14 and watched her grow as a sweet young woman and very good skydiver; we aren't the only ones who regard her like a daughter or niece, there were a lot of people holding each other while we watched the rescue efforts. We are very grateful that one of the first people on the scene was a nurse and took great care of her. To repeat, keep your head on a swivel and be aware of your airspace. Someone didn't and a young girl had to spend her 18th birthday in intensive care. We're just glad she had a birthday on Sunday! Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. 4 yellowtail snapper I caught on Sunday:5:0 The Keys Boogie was a blast. Weather was great through Saturday. The view in freefall is stunning! Your 116 was not that far off a standard Icarus size, so I'm sure Simon had no qualms about selling it if need be. But really stange sizes, particularly much larger than standard, are another animal entirely. Can't say I blame them, not too big a market for the oversized linens. You had the right idea, if you want something a bit different,it is best to talk directly with Simon. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. It sounded as though, to me anyway, that you were saying they would build one any size smaller than 229. Just wanted to clarify, no dis-respect intended. Hook Oops, upon rereading I see how that may have been implied so let me restate it: The largest standard size Safire Icarus makes is a 229. They will make tham any size you want, but non-standard sizes do not come with their 30-day guarantee. Actually that policy applies to all Icarus canopies, not just the Dafire.
