  1. so how do you do it Aggie Dave ? Scotchguard it that is..... Should I take the main out ? should my rigger take the reserve out and Cypres? Or should I just do a light coating on a packed rig? ta
  2. Lucky enough to have taken delivery of my new rig yesterday Happy happy guy But ... I want to keep it looking new and in great shape...any tips out there? In particular....what can I do/should I do to protect the container fabric ( Parapak)...is it safe to spray scotchguard spray (or eqivalent) on it? and if so...can anybody share the procedure with me ?? Thankyou all.... appreciated..some of this content is covered in another thread....but not all !
  3. Kate I stand corrected......
  4. Dave whats the deal and news on the site..... I 'lived ' on skydivingmovies.com....
  5. Nice call on checking the cutaway cables and PC...didnt think about that How much of a bad day would that be !! Prem Reserve deployment 'Find' hook knife and cut risers /lines on reserve Go for hand deploy ...not there or Deploy main and see it flutter away !! By the way...you skylords....just how easy is it to cut through a riser with a hook knife... And How would you do it....surely after you slice one side of risers you are gonna be spinning violently...?? so...?? (Dont get me wrong....Im not looking for a 'text book...this is what to do in the event of...' answer'.......just your opinions dudes.)
  6. You lucky so and so !!! Im about 3 grand (sterling) short ....but its gonna be worth EVERY penny and then some.... What price fun? And what price fun...in your OWN rig...
  7. where can I get a copy of this ' TSA document '??? Thanks
  8. I have just watched a video ( from the much missed skydivingmovies.com) Dude stepping out of a Porter as Centre float...and I guess his reserve pin was bumped because hes got a white one above his head at 12K. What can /would you do ...if the reserve had some sort of mal...? You still have a functioning main ...right? Fair enough it it was high speed you got a min in freefall to 'deal' with it.... But what if it was a just something that was not landable.. Im confused....but at least I would have about 15 mins to think about it
  9. hey new picture Aggie Dave....... You look better when ya swooping !! Crikey ...D licence b4 you got ya new rig...I guess you 'kinda' knew what you wanted then...lol
  10. I got good news today and heard this bad news ! ...setup a paypal account....let people help you, it looks like lots want to
  11. Im stoked....just heard my new rig is ready for collection Friday
  12. Hi ...Im a bit of a 60 jump wonder too !! had a nasty opening a month or so back where the damn rental canopy snivelled forever.....and just fluttered around 'partially' opening ( from the center) It was a similar feeling/thought process to which you have described.... Dont hear many people saying it in this thread...but was advised...keep and eye on the alti and no matter what you 'think' it may do...if it aint good by the hard deck ...its gotta go...( I went through my hard deck as it was starting to open normally..and was quite rightly told off and corrected !) It seemed like I had an age though.....'should I cut or what ??' Hard deck is a hard deck is a hard deck
  13. Very very interesting presentation there.....thanks
  14. Agreed.....In the BPA system you have to display an absolute minimum of CC skills in order to progress through RAPS/AFF. In fact in my opinion...it only highlights individuals whose CC skills are so bad that it demonstrates a fundemental skills learning problem. Sure there are plenty (me included) who can 'get' better with practice....but in the current UK licencing system it can be painfully slow and totally reliant on observation and 'should have done this...' rather than a skills/knowledge structured ,orientated programme. This was brought home to me ....markedly...by someone close to me who despite having progressed through SL/RAPS system and having 30+ jumps...has NEVER been shown a basic landing pattern ( Down, Cross/Base/ and 'into' wind) they were just told...make sure you land 'over there'.....which Im sure was to keep it simple whilst
  15. yeah it probably is..! But I lost mine !!! But got a link to the website now ...ta
  16. I have my Protrack and jumptrack software....but where/how do I tell the Protack what total number of jumps I have already ? so that when it records the info it will record it under my next jump (eg Jump 53) rather than starting from Jump 1? Thanks
  17. Interesting viewpoint indeed... I have 50 ish jumps and went through AFF less than 5 months ago....I too definately felt during AFF ( and beyond) that I was almost certainly going to have something horrible happen to me everytime I jumped out.. During AFF, I relied on my instructers to keep me safe ...and that gave me a level of comfort.....and I think it must go in waves....on my own I got very nervous jumping out ...and then it got better....and then it got freaky again !......at only a few more jumps than you I now dont quite have that same anxiety before the jump...but I still get butterflies everytime ! If I didnt...Im sure it would detract from the overall experience. Things that helped me...number one becoming more and more familiar with equipment (jumping your first packjob is almost as anxious as your first jump itself!, but after that, you feel alot more relaxed...why? cause YOU packed it and you know you have had at least one of your packjobs open) Also talk to people at your same and just above your current level....get their experinces of your concerns and talk about what aspects are the most concerning...you realise fast you are not alone ! Oh yeah and jumps....lots...rather than a busy day and then leaving it for weeks....jump a little but frequently just my thoughts man.... take it or leave it By the way I fluffed 2 AFF levels as well....and what I did on them levels by accident ...I trying to learn consistantly now !! backflying !!...see what goes around (and up and down) comes around ( and up and down)
  18. yeah I do......funny you should say that...D/L all my FS1 coached jumps and studied them in the evening....made me a WHOLE lot more clued up on my mistakes/gains for the next days lifts..... Cheers

  20. Thanks...I do look down often for height reference, although my DZ from altitude does not really 'stick out' lots of easy ground references to pick up at altitude....you would do fine...I just have to 'open my eyes a little more Thanks again
