just my two cents...Im a low time jumper so can only quote from my experience and those of my friends in the same circumstances... I saved up to do it all in 1 week.....and it definately paid off... From what I have heard /discussed...leaving time inbetween( like a couple o weeks) can make it more difficult...as you often have to remember/'relearn' things from the last level......I dont think thats such an issue if you do it all together. And from my experience...i had enough anxiety trying to remember everything I had to do on the level I was doing to worry about remebering the skills from the previous jump... Just my opinion.....downsides....obviously...la moolah / la cash 'ola/ the readies....yip...ya gonna need a wad up front to do it all at once...

Dunno about USPA AFF...but doesnt BPA AFF require you to demonstrate to your instructor you can recover from an unstable position?...or did my instructor just have a warped sense of humour getting me to fall out the plane backwards more than once ?? Nah ..seriously...I think its a AFF lvl6 requirement ( not entirely sure though...)
-
makes sense...thanks all

Just been looking though some pics of peeps rigs...and I gotta stoopid question...all responses appreciated How do your 'store' your rig when your not jumping it?? Packed, unpacked....hanging up ...in a bag...in a closet....what ? Mines on the floor in the corner of the room, packed and under a sheet... But i swear the I can hear the damn thing crying cause' I aint been jumping for a week !

Breaking my own rules on this one ( and consider you did have the last word Ron) " Ask yourself one tiny question...Why do you think I even post here? Ya think I just love to type? Or could it be I'm trying to give back to the sport? " hmm...judged by the length of your posts...I think that question answers itself ! Now really...this is my last post on this....frankly ...Im bored with your confrontational attitude, which has made me respond likewise, and I have no desire to give you a public forum to continue this childish tit for tat... I respect your ability and knowledge....but IMHO...your interpersonal skills are still on their first jump ! Relax....really...Im not posting again on this topic..

As Im sure you will do Ron.....I'll let your reply be the last 'word' ....it obviously means alot to ya...and I would not deny a baby his rattle ...

I had the same anxiety a few weeks back....jumping my own first rig that had a collapsible P/C Even more daunting was that it does not have a 'window' on it to check if its cocked. I have programmed myself to make cocking it part of my packing routine...at the start..before I foldinto the D Bag...and before it goes into the container. I will check the length of line by holding up the hackey as well as throwing it up in the air to see how it falls......The way I fold my P/C also lets me know if it has been left uncocked.... Definately know how u are feeling though !!.....talk with yr instructor and get him to suggest the best way to incorporate a routine into your packing...he /she will know best

Yes but there is a 'right way' of doing it. Ive never met Ron...but I have read alot of his advice and 'comments' and my opinion of him from these is that he is a very informed and experienced skydiver ....but arrogant. Im not sure I have ever read a post Ron has replied to...where he actually 'takes on' points or advice....most is..well confrontational and sometimes insulting....and yes I do learn stuff from what Ron posts....but then again...I learn from alot of other people who are alot more easygoing to chat/post with And Ron...yes I will make it to/past 100jumps ....I dont think I need to have several thousand jumps to have an opinion on that

Crikes.... Has anyone noticed the similarity between the the dude in the advert and the picture ??? Obviously the Boss model has had a few...erm..hmm..'improvements' added ... Man I heard of some low stuff to raise money for jumps.......but pimpin' yrself out for a chessy commercial shoot...damn...have you no shame...

Keeping ones mouth shut is of course very true...referring people to their instructors is also the right thing to do....but Ron...not just in this post but in several others I have read, you tend to emphasise the skygod quality that makes students not 'dare' ask instructors for fear or ridicule. Nobody doubts your experience /qualifications as being excellent......but IMHO you are lacking what is a very admirable quality in a person as well as an instructor.....non confrontational approachability... Yes you do know more than most of us....but then share the experience you have with us freely....or if you dont want to do that....bite your tongue, so to speak. Telling people...me included ( In a different post) that you expect them to 'bounce ' sub 100 jumps is NOT the responsible, motivational 'chat' you should be expressing to low time jumpers. Im of the firm believe...if someone asks me a question...of course refer them to an instructor, but if they specifically ask for your help ,share YOUR experience with them as well...... Ron non one is trying to say that someone with < 100jumps is qualified to 'teach' people....they are not....but dont insult people by saying they shouldnt share their experiences with them as well. I apologise if this sounds like a prsonal attack...it is not intended to be....its observational commentry

whoops.....just as a follow up ladies and gents Through contacting the manufacturers directly I find that the Tech who wrote the MSW on this canopy had a brainfart. MSW for this canopy is 258lbs not 237lbs By the way as an aside...search the post here and you will find Parachute systems AKA 'Chute Shops' have had a rocky review in the customer service Dept. Well 4 emails ...London-South Africa ( irrespective of different time zone) and query/problem solved in < 12 hours....
-
Thanks councilman for your advice and views....really 215 was the canopy size recommended to me by more than one instructor based on my current ability. Luckily the manufacturer has replied and corrected the posted MSW for this rig to 258lbs., otherwise I prob would not have jumped it. I treat my life and safety with my own high regard, and am always very aware of my capabilities and will not exceed them....I'll look forward to sending you a PM around the 100 jumps mark. I appreciate you have to treat all low time jumpers as complete idiots....but if I can just say...some , probably most are not...they simply have less digits in their log books...not more desire to hurt themselves.

Thanks Bill Much appreciated

Easy tigers.... Just looking for your opinions...Im not a fool and dont take advice here as gospel.. Can see both sides of concern here Thankyou for showing concern on 'lowbies' giving advice and thanks cadmium for your views......its all thrown into the stock pot. Still looking for other views of all jumpers ......

OK...so I have bought a new canopy 215 ZP.Exe (Parachute systems, South Africa) The 'posted' Max suspended weight on the brochure is 258lbs. Im 240-245 out the door. Get my new rig (nice) ..pull out the canopy and the tag says the MSW is 237 Ive emailed the manufacturer ( no reply yet) do I need to be worried about going over the MSW by a couple of pounds??? ( silly question I know...but I know manufacturers build in a 'safety buffer) And do max suspended weights apply to the weight of whats under the canopy ( ie my exit weight minus the canopies weight) or is it everything? Anybody got any comments/views?

of course Thanks
