  1. If you are an avid editor.....thats a challange not a problem...
  2. I got on 5 out of the 7lifts that went up cloud dodging.......not too shabby Never trust the weathermen.....especially not in the UK
  3. Or turning the camera on and walking (backwards) towards the subject piece (fucks wit'ya head a bit dont it !) Quade.....hear ya... But In all the talk about its just rocks.....anyone actually think there is some beauty in the aesthetics of the rock formations before they were tumbled... Or the surface of the ice in the first set changing from disturbed to glassy.... Or the choreography of the non 'rock knocking down scenes/parts' Looking beyond the 'theme'of reverse filiming.......a good amount of thought has gone into this ....and that alone is worth congratulating... Lets agree to disagree...and I'll leave it there Quade....that film I think is cool....but not as technically challanging /visually stunning as your showreel....but very good in its own right... As I said earlier.....a simple concept...done well
  4. Quade you know your shit when it comes to filming/editing/graphics....thats without question. But I thought that reel was 'cool' ... Not just because of the reverse play.... The concept....kinda a shaolin 'in the mind' kung foo thing....the props (rocks arrangement)...music and choreography is actually....damn good ! Sure getting the effect with a simple editing technique is 'easy'.....the choreography to make it look good took some thinking and a deal of practice I imagine....and aint taht what good movie making is all about...? In this age of digital wizardry....its very nice to see a simple concept done WELL Bravo to the dude who did this....its well made and groovy.... rock on! ( if you will excuse the pun )
  5. I for sure used to use the 'big man ' method of slowing down.....arms out wide and down and legs spread further apart.....it works. What I have seen and learned that is more effective and doesnt change yoyr body position radically is to 'turn out' your ankles to 'catch air'..... Its like turning your legs so your knee caps get closer together and your ankles move further apart As long as you keep your ankles symetrical you can 'throttle' the amount of drag ( and slowfall) you need without having to radically change your upper body position. Importnat to make sure your ankles dont drift forwards or backwards so you dont drive or backslide.....but IMHO it only takes a real small input to illicit a big speed change...
  6. In the original post....the author descries the toggle as being snapped...ie broken. Releasing the opposite togg;e from the keeper might help the situation.....but its still attached to the canopy and so there would still be an inbuilt turn...right? Whats the call here.....would unstowing the opposite toggle be enough to 'slow' down the turn enough so that it could be countered with opposite rear riser or does accrued momentum in the spin just win the day in this situation ie make the chances of recovery with an opposite rear riser unlikely.....whaddya 'yall think?
  7. Open the image file..... 'Filters' 'Video' 'Deinterlace' 'OK' click click click....
  8. I think using Photoshop to deinterlace gives you a superior still to what you get in Premiere.... just my opinion Do it enough using PS to deinterlace is just as quick ( if not quicker) than doing it within Premiere
  9. Nice video.....interesting and instructional The ending was ...IMHO...a little harsh ! (The download for this took the best part of 35mins !...RWS may want to do something about the bandwidth on that clip !)
  10. Tori Amos.... sounds good but looks like a frikkin' scarecrow !
  11. PC109 is great......small and great quality footage ( great colour vibrancy) Just a shitter about having to firewire using a docking station....but not the end of the world....you really do just get used to it.
  12. I love making movies and love getting as much footage as I can for them You never know the most 'boring' looking jumps can produce something thats awesome to watch back... Do a search on skydiving movies.com for 'Mad Dog Productions' and you'll see what I have captured in a variety of jumps.....most of the time the good shots just happened...they were not 'planned' I wear mine on nearly all jumps and really....i forget its there most of the time... That aside...I have learned more about flat flying by filming 4 way ( and having my slot payed for) than you can think is possible..... So how cool is that.....free jumps and experience ! (245lbs out the door....no wings...no problem !) edit: Oh yeah....and I'm a freeflyer so you just HAVE to wear camera.......blah blah blah.....
  13. Well....ask the student if they have video.....most will carry that kind of stuff with them if they have it ( I do) Take a look in their logbook....a good look and see what they have actually been doing ( ie pay more attention to comments that have been written by others/coaches) If all that fails....perhaps rather than coach them straight away....ask them what they are currently doing and ask them to describe how they do it and what it 'feels' like to them.... With one or more of the above .....if you are good enough to coach....I reckon you should be left with little doubt as to what to expect on exit. In terms of what makes good coaching....IMHO 1) I agree with previous posts. 2) When I see the 'fee' is more important than than coaching/enjoyment......I'm outta there....bye bye 3) Solid briefings in PLENTY of time before the lift and good debriefings afterwards... 4) No Bullshit......if you are crap...dont dress it up....but no negative criticism without a positive solution. 5) Goal orientated....works with you with a clear focus on what YOUR goals are...not theirs. 6)Maybe puts you in touch with other peeps they knows are around the same ability as yourself on the DZ for safe group diving outside of coaching. 7) Asks YOU for your opinion on how they are coaching....what worked and what didnt... 8) Doesnt take themselves too seriously.....will be happy to get drunk with you later in the day and tell you that 'I love you man ......no really.....I LOVE you man.....".....
  14. Yeah......looked back and thought...whats going on? we didnt get to jump....but the loads just didnt 'match up' We will.....and by the looks of things it'll be you teaching me a few things ! Rock on ! But mate...those goggles........question it !! You at Sibo this weekend.....? I will be....weather permitting
  15. Nice job Dave....! You have done great in so few HD jumps....!
  16. What do you consider 'substantial'...?
  17. I got a chance to paw the new Atom Legend R this weekend and was very impressed. Its small, comfy , well featured and everything is nice and tight ! Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on this rig ( good , bad , whatever) they would like to share....as I cant see alot about it after searching
  18. Thnaks for your considered opinion...... The 'man' at Mirage confirms that changes are on the way.......but are still under wraps... Excuse me for wanting to know what they are before I shell out on the 'old' version.....!
  19. Follow the 'basic rules' of packing ( I wont go into them here in detail other than...) brakes set.....lines centered/material outside....slider against links and quatered.....good line stows I experiment with the rest of the pack job on every other jump and have yet to have a problem....other than it sometimes opening quicker or slower than I expected. Follow the 'basic' rules of packing and relax....go jump it In fact ( as many will confirm) some of the best openings are on those 10min call packjobs ... Go figure...!
  20. Care to elaborate on that a bit....? I was looking into placing an order for a Mirage G4 quite soon..... Looks like thats now gonna go on hold....
  21. Humility over ego......no matter what level of experience. A safety concious attitude that isnt anal.... And always willing to go up for a 'skydive'...no matter who its with or what you are doing as long as as your ability levels dont compromise the safety of the dive If I see that in people.....I'll be buying you a beer no matter who you are.....or how much time you have in the sport
  22. Damn...Holding onto that fart on the ride up was tough but ... DAYAM....thats a relief now..! (paaaarrrrrrp)
  23. " ahhhh shit I knew I shouldnt have had that chicken madras last night.........no naked flames no naked flames....too late........ahhhhhhhhhhh !!"
  24. I'm awestruck....its an absolute classic... You truly can find anything on the web.... I'm gonna go practice right now... Here kitty kitty......
