You took him to task for his "misdirection," which appears to be from critiquing what you hold dear. You were not clear on that point so you are right - the claims were implicit, not explicit. BTW, though Jillette is an illusionist, his standard approach is to reveal the basis of the illusion once it is performed. His presentation is a far cry from those who pretend that their stock in trade is magical. I guess I screwed up. The point I was trying to make is that Christian beliefs, regardless of the particular sect or denomination, has or, should have, no bearing on political office. Personally, I like knowing an elected official is a professed Christian. That is as far as it goes for me. It is not the basis of my vote. Jillette's initial premise was to guide atheists in choosing a candidate. He only critiqued the Christian based candidates, giving him the benefit here. Mormonism is not recognized as a Christian belief. It stands alone. He then proceeded with a monologue on his lack of understanding of their beliefs since he did not consider them crazy. Would you vote for an atheist? Yes Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

Winsor, I made no such claims in the post to which you referenced. I was commenting on Jillette's misdirection. As Coreece apply pointed out, he is an illusionist. Jillette is always entertainment. Unfortunately, he did not offer a guide to the 2012 election. He only stated his opinion why he does not understand some candidates. We all, candidates and voters alike, need to separate the salvation provided by Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary from politics. Sin, Salvation are the paramount considerations. The President of the United States, or any other elected office, is a whole different realm of reasoning and consciousness. Jillette believes Christians speak in a code that he does not understand. He is absolutely correct. Without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit he, or anyone, cannot break the code. You've been a long time under the bridge, eh Steve. Again, I am brought back to the comparison of Israeli tactics and America's tactics when establishing airport and airline security. The Israelis look for terrorists. The TSA looks for things. Effective profiling is the best deterrent. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

Where will it stop? The next thing you know they will be demanding orgasm, multiple orgasms, like those infidel Westerners. You have bought into the Myth of the Female Orgasm? The Saudis are way too sophisticated to fall for such hokum. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Meh, the South lost and will not be rising again, Unless it's to go to a NAPCAR race. Neo-Confederates need to get over the fact that their beloved South LOST THE FUCKING WAR. Obviously, you don't get it. It is not about winning or losing. It is about the spirit of freedom and the spirit of the warrior. Tell me about the spirit of the Imperial Japanese Navy... They lost too... (I purposely did not mention the Wehrmacht [also a proper analogy] to avoid the usual douchey attempts to invoke Godwin's Law.) First, that flag is the battle flag not the flag of the C.S.A. Second, it is only a symbol of our recent unpleasantness. Third, freedom of speech. Fourth, keep the flag flying, set up Christmas tress and nativity scenes, get tattoos, etc. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. It is full of God loving, gun toting, freedom loving Rednecks. "A country boy can survive." ~ Hank Williams, Jr. You might be a redneck if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, 'One nation, under God..' You might be a redneck if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places. You might be a redneck if: You still say ' Christmas' instead of 'Winter Festival.' You might be a redneck if: You bow your head when someone prays. You might be a redneck if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem You might be a redneck if: You treat our armed forces veterans with great respect, and always have. You might be a redneck if: You've never burned an American flag, nor intend to. You might be a redneck if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening. You might be a redneck if: You respect your elders and raised your kids to do the same. You might be a redneck if: You'd give your last dollar to a friend. 'overwhelming job losses for the military'? Well join the club. The civilian population has had overwhelming job losses for years now. 'break promises to our veterans'? Politicians have been breaking promises to regular citizens for 30 years now, if not centuries.... 'dismantling the greatest military the world has ever known'? Well if it so great and so mighty, then it can afford to be trimmed a bit - suck it up cupcake. So we're not going to raise taxes.....but we should only cut spending. But then we cannot cut spending (in the military) just 'cause I said so! Anyone else find this amusing on all sides....? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. And for some reason you can't or won't explain what Christianity is really about, because your post lack arguments. "Study the gospel of John isn't an argument, it's an excuse. Usually uttered by a Christian that's cornered in my experience. It's about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a new life in Christ and eternal salvation. Read the Gospel of John. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

So a good Christian rejects the Old Testament? Is there a list somewhere of what parts of the bible a church disassociates itself with? Or does the Gospel of John say, "ignore pages x through y"? (And if the Old Testament were rejected, would they be saying that "God was indeed an evil tryrant, but he got better, and we don't believe in that killing stuff now", or that "The people who wrote the Old Testament were full of crap, God never did such evil things." Just trying to understand which interpretation a Christian would hold.) It just sounds really bad for Christians if they, in general, believe in "the Bible" when there's all that stuff about killing in it. Other people might get arrested for hate crimes (in some countries) if they started handing out pamphlets with such "kill people" messages. But Christians seem to get away with it. None of the Bible is rejected. As with the poster above, you lack understanding of what being a Christian really means. It does not mean joining a club. Again I state, study the Gospel of John for a better understanding. Save the OT for later study when you are rightly grounded in truth and guided by the Holy Spirit. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

I think you should study Christian history, because this cop-out wasn't used by Christians when they were still murdering people because of texts in the old testament. That went on until quite recently in some areas. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

Sen Feinstein (D-VPC) hardest hit. On a more serious note...I consider this a good thing. Now, how far will it get in the Senate? It is my understanding that CWP holders always have a right of passage through any state. Is that true? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. Only two New Testament references that I noticed. You need to read more about Jesus. I suggest study in the Gospel of John. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
