Hi Zennie- I'll have to make sure to bring the riding crop with me to every BASE event I attend, so when I meet you next we can take care of that order of business. I knew this poll would bring 'em out of the woodwork...notice Shotgun was the first to reply to the thread. It seems lots of us like this strange type of fun and games. Good thing I'm so good at it! It looks like I might be busy for a long time to come! Mistress K

I don't know about y'all, but I'm a bit miffed at Nick for his little prank of last evening. Kevin called me in a panic , so after calling Nick's cell and getting his voice mail I jumped on the Board to see if there was any news. THANKS TOM for getting the prank news posted so quickly! So instead of jumping in my van to drive down and make sure he was ok, I wanted to drive down and smack the crap outta him for scaring us like that. I devised this poll so people will have a chance to vent and also to let Nick know he might not be so glad to see me next time I arrive at the Julia Bell. On the good side, however, I did have two nice long conversations with friends I hadn't touched base with in a long time. If everyone else in our community that loves Nick had the same experience, I guess that even though it was scary, it did serve to bring us closer together in an bass-ackwards way. Nick, we love you and KNOW that after your own close calls with the Reaper, you don't truly take death, especially your own, lightly. I for one look forward to your explanation, and baby, it better be good! If it's good enough, you may just avoid the fate this poll decides for you... So it's up to you guys, you decide! Peace and swats, K

Hey Hookit- Are you using the small mesh slider on all your slider up jumps? What altitudes and delays? I have also been using a small mesh slider and a tailgate, but haven't done anything below 876' unless I intend to land in the water. If you're doing small mesh slider up jumps from sub 500' I'd love your input on your research and testing. Thanks, K

Hi Atle! It's funny you should appear on this forum for nearly getting hit by a golf ball. How's your foot? Are you back to 100% now? I had a friend who always covered his head when driving by the golf course. I asked him why, and he showed me the scar on his forehead where he had a bunch of stitches. Seems he was riding his moped by the golf course and a stray ball sailed over the fence, hit him in the head, knocked him completely off his moped and into the boulevard. Small, hard balls being hit with long steel clubs...not safe. Do you remember when sex was safe and sydiving was dangerous? I think they have traded places on the risk scale by now. Life isn't safe! Peace, K

I agree with Dexter, keep your logbook and put every jump in there. I have balloon jumps in my log book that don't count as BASE jumps so they don't have numbers, but I used my BASE gear so I logged them for the data. When I was still only a skydiver I took a ride in an aerial stunt plane. I had never seen the horizon do so many flips and rolls except when I was in freefall and flailing, so I put that flight in my skydiving logbook without a number also. I was wearing a pilot's rig and got to fly the plane. It wasn't a skydive but it was noteworthy, so into the logbook it went. Remember, when you go to write your book, those details will come in very handy! Just ask Nick... :) Peace, K

I've been plucked out of the river twice by Jon and his crew, and have always been very grateful for the work they perform. Please give my best wishes to Jon's wife and family and tell them that we are all sending healing energy and good vibes their way. Thanks, Jason, for doing what you do. Peace, K

Oh Jamie!!!! I've been meaning to call you to congratulate you on your amazing picture on the cover of Skydiving Mag. You looked so cool and smooth I couldn't believe it. Good job, mate! Will you autograph my copy please?????? Stargazing again, K

Thanks everyone! We appreciate your efforts! I hope Yuri is having a great time, Lika, did you make Yuri wear his t-shirt "I am the man your mother warned you about"? Gotta keep the foreign women safe from marauding BASErs in disguise... Peace, K

There is a picture in the world of Nik Hartshorne, Dwain, Slim, and Anne as one version of Psilocybin Solution. Now that Anne is the only survivor of that particular team, she is very interested in getting a copy of that photo. Yuri, maybe you know where it is? This would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help. Thanks from Anne, by Karen

Hey Nick- I guess maybe you better be ok with old timers, or else you'll end up being the Crusties or something equally unsavory. Oh, here's a good one, Miracles! It's a miracle y'all are still alive after jumping with the gear you had to work with in the beginning. :) love ya lots, K

I bought a pair of Midland 10 mile radios and took them to Norway with me. I thought the extra range would be a good thing. It turned out that the Midland radios did not work with any other radios in the area except themselves, so they were useless to me there. If you want them to work with Motorola radios as well, you may want to do some extra homework. I obviously missed something when I purchased my Midlands! oops...live and learn. have fun! xo K

Hey Jen... Yeah, me too! There's nothing like impressing a girl by doing a BASE jump, then getting to snuggle down in the back of Don's boat with her on the way to the park to pack! I see you're BASE 974, CONGRATULATIONS! You came in way under 1000! Peace, K

Personally, I've had a helluva time with boots. Bought Crispis (size 42 Euro), didn't break them in well enough, and blistered my heels on the first hike up Kjerag. Bought Solomans in Norway last spring, didn't get to break them in, same effect (blistered heels). Looking into Hanwags...maybe they will be better for my long, narrow feet. Have looked at Birkenstock hiking boots...lots of hooks though. Roommate bought $500 boots with custom liners made from casts of his feet. Mmm...sounds nice. When I find the boots that don't kill my feet I'll sell my other, hardly used boots. Wish me luck! K of the blistered heel club.

I think the old one is sitting around as "parts". I'll see if the owner wants to shed it. How much is it worth to you? K

Hey Tom, love your work, mate....but i've seen you jump, once, and it scared the bejesus out of me. My advice? Don't bother with a musical instrument...you'll only break it. . Love ya, K

Is it just my perspective, or do these rangers seem to have a grude against anyone actually hjaving fun and enjoying the Parks? Why do people let their own fears or baises dicatate to them what should be legal or illegal? For a "free country", this seems to be normal, and that is quite alarming. Peace, K

Hey C... Nice job on this post, thank you! You have hit the nail on the head exactly with this, You are the man... Peace, K

I totally agree! I just figured this is Tom's full time job. Thanks Tom, you help educate us all, which is invaluable.

Hey Nick and all! I can totally relate to this thread. I have been a Basshead my whole life. I finally figured it out, that all of my favorite tunes have killer bass lines, and no wonder my favorite bands had guys like John Paul Jones (Ramble On!), Geddy Lee, Roger Waters and Chris Squire in them. How does this relate to BASE? BASE is Bass is Bass...we're all BASE heads, eh? (except the fish thing, I guess I'm not behind that as much) And this isn't the first BASE jumper to discover bass guitar. Another dear friend of ours in doing the same thing, jamming the bass and totally groovin' over in Colorado! Peace out, Karen
