What planet are you on?? If we say 'you should lock up your gun' then we're radicals and are trying to force our way into your home. If the NRA say then they're not??? Please explain how your logic is working.

Longmont City Council will take up skydiving noise

More than likely she's not getting checks in the mail like before is because people aren't sending any! Like some people have said upthread, there's no reasoning with stupid. The way I read it was that she's receiving cheques, but her thank you notes aren't getting out. Not quite as good as her not getting the cash. -
Please show examples where I've used this 'wide brush' of yours. I certainly try not to. From memory, I'm one of those who has actually stood up and said that using sweeping generalizations is a bad thing. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4531136;#4531136 Not only that, but your post makes no sense. Remhwa was calling Trump an asshole and saying we wouldn't vote for him because of that. Your reply indicated that people voted for 'Obama the asshole'. Now that's changed and it's just 'whoever voted for Obama is an idiot'? If you could stick with a single line of thought maybe we'd have more productive discussions.

From Fox news - YOUR preferred media outlet: http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2012/04/26/how-to-store-guns-safely-in-your-home/ So I think you just called the NRA 'anti-gun activists'... You can claim that your front door constitutes 'a secure locking device' all you want. It's clear that that isn't the intent of the advice from your organization.

Hmmm too many voted for Obama Can we PLEASE get a rolling eyes emoticon just for rushmc's posts?

But counter-productive. If you want to ridicule her in a productive way, write to the publication that she's encouraging her supporters to write to. Send pictures. Explain the joy you get out of skydiving. It won't take many pro-MHS letters to be published until she drops that avenue of attack. -
so that's a 'no' to the deviant vote as well then!

Trump dropped from Red State convention after continuing to rant on CNN and implying that the only reason Megyn Kelly asked harsh questions was because she was menstuating.... http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-33833516 The guy's an imbecile. It would actually be funny to see him run and see how many different demographics he pisses off. Mexicans? Check. No vote there. Women? Yup. How about African Americans next, Mr. Trump?

Turn an old rig into a working backpack

I've seen it done twice. One guy with about 100 jumps ended up on a sub-100 Velocity. He was smart enough to cutaway and land the 120 reserve. -
1 day cricket is great fun to watch.

How do the current Republican candidates have any relation to democratic voters 4 and 8 years ago? Surely right wing voters are the people who have more influenced the current crop of candidates? If you'd said that Obama voters were responsible for the Democratic field I could sort of see where you were coming from, but in your haste to assign yet more blame to the democrats (thanks, OBAMA!) you've lost me completely. Personally, I think that Trump is doing as well as he is because of the comedy value he's bringing. Egging on an idiot on an internet forum to see what further craziness they post is one thing, but doing it in a candidate for a presidential election shows a lack of seriousness given the gravity of the situation IMO. The rest of the world look at it and go "seriously, USA??"

This is why Trump shouldn't be president... http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-33823575 After the debate he starts slagging off the moderators via social media because he didn't like some of the questions. How juvenile can you get? I've seen behaviour like that from 10 year olds on the xbox. "Well I didn't WANT to win, anyway. So nnneyh!" Trump is a goon. In fact, he's a caricature of a goon. I get the amusement factor, but the fact that he's even AT these debates reflects poorly on the nation. The irony of him calling other people a 'clown' is palpable.

From Nottingham police: "We're receiving reports of Aussies in trouble..." From Crimestoppers: "Sorry, we can't take any calls about criminal Australian batting..." etc etc. and the usual mix of stuff from around the internet. They've responded really well today though. Hopefully England can keep the pressure on.

New jumper - what to do when spotting safety issues

I have no problem with outing shitty behaviour like that. Post the name on here and see if any of his other former students agree. I'm not saying that it's necessarily the case, but this girl may have been spinning you a line, you know? It wouldn't be the first time I've seen students lie about their progression... I also have no problem bringing the BPA to heel - I agree that they're an insular old-boys network. You're original post was slamming ALL UK instruction because of a few. That's not OK. so long as we agree on that, we're good. -
The australian cricket team?... Did you see any of the tweets send out my the metropolitan police during their innings?

New jumper - what to do when spotting safety issues
yoink replied to RichyR's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Wait, what? Obelix is touting that there are nefarious instructors in the UK who will knowingly not only withold signed logbooks to students who opt to move to another DZ or ask questions about their instruction, but will also take their time to collaborate with the BPA to ensure the student is blackballed from all DZs in the country - including personally making shit up if other DZs call them. *puts on tinfoil hat. -
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-33802026 Nothing new to learn from this... for fucks sake, guys. If you're so insistent about owning guns at least lock them up. The father should be prosecuted in this case as well.

Equally, I've seen a number of people who have 'passed' AFF offshore who have returned to the UK, only to find out that they can't even fall stable - let alone complete any of their more advanced maneuvers required for an A license. For me to call all foreign instructors incompetent on the basis of that sample would be as ridiculous as the statements as you're making. That you're making in them in a thread started by a beginner to grind your personal axe is pathetic, and is why I'm irritated. Instruction in the UK is like anywhere else in the world. There are better instructors and there are worse. The OP should follow the advice which would stand anywhere else in the world - 'ask questions. If you're given bad answers, go to a different DZ'. -

yoink replied to RichyR's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There's so much bullshit in this post that it's difficult to know where to start. When was the last time you received any training in the UK? 20 years ago? More? If I was a UK instructor and I saw this post I'd be fucking furious. The BPA has its issues, but your post about individual instruction is pathetic. I have some mates who teach in the UK and I'd put them up against you for student responsiveness any day. -
Sounds like you were watching my first freefall - although from memory it was a 3 second delay! After 3 perfect DPs in a day, went out without the rope, freaked out, backflipped out of the door and deployed on my back.

DSE is right on. Ask your CCI, but phrase it in such a way that you're not accusing anyone of anything. Something like 'I've been tying to learn about grouping and exit separation and I keep hearing people say that using a 45 degree rule doesn't work but I've heard groups here say that it does. What method should I be using? (and why?)' Edit: which DZ are you at? -
I'm deeply impressed. that looks like a real parachute!
