  1. Trumps tweet did exactly the job it was meant to do. It diverted attention from all of the negative stuff that was going on at the time and is standard Trump MO - when you're under pressure, attack. The irony of course that this is real FAKE news put about by the liar-in-chief but his rabid fan base won't see that. 'Bitch about Obama' beats 'do your job' in their mind.
  2. It's also not fair that their vote for president of the country counts for 1/4 of that of some other Americans. 'MURICA!
  3. Well they've certainly got hold of them now. It's the nature of intelligence agencies to develop these sorts of capabilities and to hoard them for our benefit. I guess it's a gamble - is it potentially more protective to have access to terrorist cell phones at will, or to protect the privacy of the general populace. I'm in the camp where I'd rather have secret weapons against our enemies than spending that capital to protect our population. That is actually a discussion that I'd happily have. I could be convinced that my position isn't the best there. Either way, I'm certain that Wikileaks is NOT the right way to disseminate the information. Either it should have been edited to show the CIA's culpability but not technical processes, or the information should not have been made generally available. Giving technical details of these zero day exploits to wikileaks is effectively giving them to the very people you're trying to protect us from. Hence, treason.
  4. These aren't even morally grey leaks. It's not documentation of the CIA spying on US civilians and a moral obligation to make the public aware of something illegal, it's simply releasing their tools and capability and information into the wild where it WILL be used by far more nefarious people than the CIA. Looks like treason to me. I wonder if Putin needs another defector?
  5. I don't need to have suffered from directly it to stand against hate, bigotry and religious intolerance. I can do it because it's the right thing to do.
  6. He means that not every Christian thinks the same. Any more than any other diverse group of people. The fact that you live in a very secluded and secular portion of the Christian community likely biases your view on the overall 'Christian' voting style. I believe that every member of your Christian community voted against Hillary. That does not mean that EVERY Christian did... or even a majority of them, necessarily. This is basic population sampling. You can't apply data from a small subset to a large, diverse group.
  7. And there it is. You guys need to stop trying to argue with Ron. There is literally nothing in the world that Trump could do that would change the fact that he beat Hillary, and that's all that matters to Ron. His actions other than that mean nothing.
  8. Let me get this straight; you're advocating armed insurrection?
  9. 4 years. He won't want to run again. The GOP won't want him to run again. Most of the public won't want him to run again.
  10. via an online survey here https://gop.com/trump-first-month-approval-survey/ The phrasing of the questions paints his actions in as favourable light as possible, but have at it.
  11. the scary thing is that he'll get away with it. As long as he's 'projecting strength' to people like Ron they'll love him for it. All those outlets are just full of fake news anyway. It's about time they were taught a lesson... And its not like anyone can do anything about it. His party need to reel him in, bigg time. But they won't. Scary times when contrasting viewpoints and criticisms are banned at the highest level. Really scary. Stalin-esque even.
  12. Why? I believe it will help with your mental adjustment, if you want it. Prayer helped me during the period 2008-2016. Seriously. I'm happy that it helped you through a tough time. But I don't believe that capitulation, apathy and ignorance is the solution to the insanity of Trumps government, any more than you would have done for Obama's. 'Rage, rage against the dying of the light', and all that. I also don't particularly WANT any mental adjustment, thanks. Just as I don't WANT any religion. I'm fine with people having faith, but take offense at the notion that everyone should buy into it and that religious people continually try to insist that it's the only correct way to live. If there is a God, then faith is a trait they've given humanity. Religion on the other hand is a man-made construct with the purpose of manipulating faith to its own end. It's a power grab.
  13. That might be the most depressing way of looking at life that I've ever heard.
  14. We really need a rolling eyes emoticon. I'd be interested if you revise any of your position when you understand that the economy in California somewhere between the 6th and 12th largest in the world, depending upon how you measure it. The only non-country up there... http://www.politifact.com/california/statements/2016/jul/26/kevin-de-leon/does-california-really-have-sixth-largest-economy-/ http://www.mercurynews.com/2016/07/05/californias-economy-is-bigger-than-all-but-five-nations-world-bank-data-says/ And just to forestall your 'where is the line drawn' argument it would be drawn where the boundaries of the state is now. Discussing what might happen if tiny parts of the state left is a strawman. Aside from all of that, it would never happen and I don't think most Californians would WANT it to happen. But it's nice to know that if it did we'd probably be OK. Other states that rely on our contribution to federal funding because they lose money each year, not so much... Liberals and Immigrants. That's all you get in California and they're all lazy hand-out seekers, right?
  15. You're going to cause conflict! Stop resisting.
  16. Of course you would. Because you seem to agree with Trumps philosophy that ANYTHING that doesn't fit with your particular view / opinion of events must not only be fake, but a direct attack on your world view. But eventually, when he's shown to be a lying, corrupt narcissist / wannabe dictator and goes down in history as not only the least popular but also the least effective president in the US I offer my services as a counselor to anyone desiring assistance. Please contact me back channel. I will not discuss your mental health or psychological issues in an open forum... And the fact that you continually throw around your 'counselling' background as some sort of deeper understanding of human nature than anyone else just shows how weak your ability to make cogent arguments and rational judgements are. You're not the only semi-bright person in here, Ron. I'd like to understand what you mean by 'conflict'. I'd expect a counselor to be more precise with their words. Of course there will be a conflict - that's inherent in any 2 people having a difference of opinion. They have conflicting views... I want to know if you mean 'armed / violent conflict because I suspect that THAT is something you'd welcome.
  17. As is proper. Doesn't it concern you that the Commander in Chief doesn't understand that concept?
  18. Do that on a Saturday and finish the night off with Rosie O'Bannon and the commander in chief might actually have meltdown.

    Sous vide

And that was my issue with it. If I have sear something to get the best flavour and colour anyway I might as well just do that from the start. I will say that it has many more applications for vegetables than meats for me. I keep pretty abreast of emerging techniques in cooking and I've found that most of the hi-tech fashionable stuff doesn't directly translate to a home cook. You can take principles from them though and apply them in a different way - so sous vide is all about low temperature cooking for a long time. Blumenthal does that with a steak in the oven - 125 degrees for 14 hours then finished with a blowtorch if I remember correctly. If you're into stuff like this though you might try a book called The Food Lab by J Kenji. I just got given it for Christmas and it's really good.
  20. It's sad, but I honestly think that will have an effect on Trump. This is how we have to communicate with our president now...
  21. Trump isn't happy about anything that doesn't involve a tongue up his arse.
  22. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38890090 The BBC responds to Trumps claims of unreported 'massacres'.

    Sous vide

I cook a LOT and I hate sous vide. I tried it at home a number of years ago when it was just starting to take off and I don't like the texture or anaemic look of things cooked in that fashion. I even sent back a chicken ceasar at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in Heathrow because they did it sous vide without mentioning it... Sure. It's cooked. But psychologically I don't want to eat pink chicken that has the texture of semi-raw chicken. It's cooking wankery like foams and gels. It has a very specific application and time and place but isn't in my standard repertoire.
