  1. to defend myself. Derek V No need to defend yourself if guns don't work in public. And talking of minorities, would you like to compare statistics of gun owners vs gun owners who have ACTUALLY had to use a gun to defend themselves while they're out of their home? Talk about pandering to a paranoid minority... There's also the fact that any gun restriction will take at least a century to propagate through society, so even if you voted for my suggestion there's basically no chance that if would affect your ability to defend yourself as you're so worried about. You and I will be long dead before it becomes a standard.
  2. We have that in Colorado. It is not enforceable. Derek V Hence my suggested law that IS enforceable, but you won't consider because you don't want to give up your right to be able to shoot in a school.
  3. Solving the mental health part is a LOT harder than just solving the gun part. But how about this for a start? Ban private sales of guns completely - everything HAS to go through a licensed gun dealer. Like escrow. Give gun dealers access to a mental health database. If someone is flagged on that then no sale is allowed and the cops are notified. Make becoming a transfer center real audit of capability each year (secret spot checks and the like to avoid pencil-whipping transfers). If a gun is found to have changed hands without going through the escrow process, both parties (seller and buyer) get 5 years in jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. The problem with a system like this is that mental health is a massive grey area - what constitutes someone who can't own a firearm? I don't know... That's why it's much easier to police the items themselves than the people who use them.

What??? If you fail on two fifths of the projects I give you, you're fired. That's not being a winner, it's being shit at your job.
  5. I'm sure more people are killed by cutlery than by a left-handed, 1904 rifle that's painted red, too. But that's just as fucking dumb a comparison. Subdividing sets to perform a comparison is deceitful and ignorant - just like the source you pulled this shit from. Let's do this like we're educating a toddler: BLANK is to KNIFE, as RIFLE is to GUN. What's the answer? Compare guns and knives... go on. I'll wait.
  6. Taking the right action is more important that just taking action. If someone has a bad idea it should n't be put into practice just because it's an idea. That's how we've been left with a load a meaningless legislation around ammo, magazines and modifications. Weapon types will be next, and it's just as meaningless.
  7. How many hours a week should the school devote to target practice for the teachers? Because I'm sure you don't think that unpracticed civilians shooting at small targets who would be firing back in a room full of non-combatants would end well. They should probably have PT each morning as well. To make sure they're ready for an emergency.
  8. Sorry. A poor attempt at sarcasm. Idiots should suffer the consequences just like us smart folks. I do have a hard time thinking anyone colluded with the Russians. Cool. Tone of message is tough to convey in text. I was wondering if I missued something!
  9. That went by me a little fast. Care to explain in a bit more detail why the kids get a pass if they’d committed a crime?

It looks like it is all over but the wiping. No collusion on President Trump's part. The bad guys have been identified, but they will never see a court room over here. With the school tragedy it is not even top of the fold news. Interesting, don't you think, that the best way the Russians could think of to damage the USA was to help get Trump elected president? It really doesn't matter if he was actively colluding or just a Russian dupe. Actually, it does - as far as being prosecuted for collusion goes. In the wider scheme of 'how do we stop other countries meddling in our election' then I agree with you.
  11. Because deeply religious people have never murdered a bunch of folks based on their beliefs? Oh. Wait. Religion gives people an excuse to be awful to each other. 'God told me to' is the biggest cop-out of all time and has been the the cry of some of the largest mass murders in history. Allow me to offer you, and others, a suggestion, stop looking at life in the rear view mirror. The hypocrisy in this post is mind-boggling, given that you literally define your life, how you live it and what's going to happen to you in the future by an ancient book. You should probably stop looking in the rear view mirror, Ron.
  12. Born evil? People who spout that bullshit, maybe.

  14. Holding a chip on your shoulder for several years, apparently.
  15. That's how I see it. Skydiving is a motor sport. As is tunnel flying. In that case, you would need to declare downhill skiing is a motor sport, because the lifts are motorized. According to the news yesterday, the Olympic downhill ski race had a vertical drop of >2700 ft. That is enough height to do a accuracy comp, and almost enough for a swoop comp. Do not be surprised to see speedflying in there in a decade or so.
  16. you're both wrong. The next post from rush will be 'zero collusion'
  17. What does it matter what group he belonged to or didn't? His membership (or lack) didn't enable him to go and shoot a bunch of kids. The gun did. Remove his membership to any group, or make him a member of any other group and he STILL would have had the ability to commit this crime. Remove his ability to actually DO it and you're making a difference. This is the problem - people get too easily sidetracked by inconsequential factors.
  18. Legislation about individual weapon types, modifications, ammo, or whatever isn't the answer. The solution has to be strategic - not tactical.
  19. OK! How? Derek V We've been through this. You won't accept giving up ONE right. The right to fire a gun wherever and whenever you want. Give that one up and you can have ALL the others back. It's enforcable. It would work.
  20. We fixed this issue in the UK in the 1800's by making it illegal. Children were not allowed to be sent down coal mines due to the hazard inherent in the environment. It's obscene that it''s taking so long for effective legislation to be put in place in the US. It's obvious that schools are lethally dangerous to children. Children should be banned from being sent to school. Only in this way will we stop seeing this same situation again and again.
  21. Thoughts on CP becoming an Olympic event? Speed, Distance and Accuracy are about as un-biased as they come. Personally, I think it would be boring to watch, the risk of a competitor dying on international TV would be too high for the Olympic Committee to take a chance on, and the nuances of what makes a foot of difference in the end result would be lost on whuffos. There's nothing relatable about the sport to someone who not only hasn't done any skydiving, but who hasn't done quite a lot of it.
  22. I wouldn't be counting those chickens just yet, Bill.
  23. I've progressed! Ask me my weight and I now reply in lbs. What's a kilogram?
  24. Not having the ability to travel to parallel universes the only answer I can give is 'I don't know' - I have no proof of what their interference did or did not do. I am sure however that they DID interfere.
