I think that's exactly why it's "LOOK, reach, pull." If you even do your practice touches trying to do it blind, you're just asking for trouble. You WILL do in the air as you do on the ground. If you're gonna go through the motions, you might as well go as far as you can with it...i.e. don't actually pull, but still do the motions. everytime, before I get on the plane, and just before I leave. Oh yeah, and I try to make sure I touch at least one of them after I leave too. If for nothing other than to check and make sure everything is where it should be...pilot chute hasn't slid in or out of BOC, cutaway hasn't flipped so it's under the harness, and silver is still seated properly. then focus and go. [ perhaps they would like it more if you just gave them your patronage.

Actually, not to cause problems here, but flourescent light can also damage a canopy too apparently. I'm not sure how severlely, but just thought I'd put that one in there. I always thought it would be cool, rather than walking the isle...swooping the isle. Except of course if you overshot and took out the priest...that would be a bad thing. The same reason some guy in North Dakota would name his restaurant "Crabby Dick's Seafood Restaurant." At least I think it was in North dakota...it's somewhere in the middle of nowhere northern USA anyhow. I beleive if you want to do it by the book, any jump in which more than on first is done, only constitutes one case of beer. On the other hand, two cases of beer IS twice as good. I was gonna bring that up too. The intentional cutaway is done from higher altitude, and you are wearing a tertiary reserve. I didn't think you had to modify your harness though... Some guys I know informed me of the quarter rule....You get a map put a quarter on the area your S/O lives. Anything outside of the quarter is fair game. I personally don't subscribe, although, if she has a cute sister, you could get a blueprint of her house, then you just can't sleep with anyone else in her room. Who says size (or scale) doesn't matter? Indeed, I've read the article a couple times already. Just out of curiousity, how did you compare it to the Jedei? If you could elaborate on the similarities and differences, I would appreciate it. PM me, or send me an email, or whatever. Thanks in advance. I started skydiving there, and no doubt, there will be no problem filling loads provided the weather cooperates. (sending vibes for the weather.) I think PD doesn't want to make a choice for you on this issue, just simply because they can't. They have presented the facts, and expect a person to define their own needs and acceptable risks. one COULD assume that if a larger canopy is more prone to being affected by turbulence, then if it were to fly through the same turbulence as a small canopy, where the small canopy actually was affected, that the larger canopy would be affected more, thus increasing the risk of possible collapse. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. Just wondering what canopies on the market are silmilar in performance to the Samurai, and what flight characteristics they have similar, and different to the Samurai. Edited to add: I'm also curious as to the difference between the Jedei sweptwing, fat top, and just a normal jedei if there is one. Thanks S.E.X. party #1 "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "f*#k, what a ride".

I actually saw someone wriggle himself out of his Talon 2 two weekends ago. all straps done up. He was as shocked (if not more) as we were. We didn't catch it the first time, so he put it back on and did it again. He had to slightly move the legstraps towards his knees, but I don't think it was more than a few inches. Pretty eye opening stuff. Although, in my opinion, seeing the effort he had to make, I don't think tightening the chest strap would do much good unless it was WAY tight, and that would probably hinder skydiving skills. High density would be thicker air, no? higher altitude gives you lower density, therefore lower altitude would give you thicker, or higher density air. Dennis Miller made a comment about this on his show the other night, saying something along the lines of...If you wanna go to war for the oil, then sell it like that. Don't try and hide it. You wanna win over the American people, come out and say "Hey, how would everybody like to fill up for a 5 spot?" I thought it was mildly amusing, and somewhat true. Corrective measures if premature deployment at door...
fool replied to Chivo's topic in Safety and Training
I don't recall ever hearing of someone wrapping a chute (main or reserve) around the tail, and just hanging there. the procedures seems ok to me, except the deploy your main and hope for the best, as this would more than likely rip off the tai., but as far as I've heard that probably happened the first time your chute wrapped the plane, and any prayers should go out to the pilot and other passengers. I may be wrong, but I haven't heard of this happening.
