how fast does the reserve open from terminal? it seems to me (not that I know all that much) that it might be a bit fast to endure. they probably didn't want to have attention drawn away from the conference. or away from the other thing...either way S.E.X. party #1 "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "f*#k, what a ride".

did my first jump on March 17th...pretty friggin cold with no gloves. FJC is usually at 3500 ft. the DZO gave us 6500 for the same price. Only now do I realize how cool that is (well, I knew a while ago, but you get my drift...not at the time.) number of posts that is...average of .4 per day, and I think I've posted about 30 messages today. It's funny, I go through phases of semi-PWing, and then I'll go for a long time lurking...I'm here daily when i can be, just not always loud about it I guess....How many posts do you need till you're an addict? I've been here for almost two years, I think I qualify. that's a good sign...not sure if that's technically a pun, but it was intended S.E.X. party #1 "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "f*#k, what a ride".

I think that's my point exactly...I'm not sure anymore S.E.X. party #1 "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "f*#k, what a ride".

I agree with you, but I still think that (even though the chances are only as large as you let them be to a certain degree...shit happens after all) being aware of the possibility, and being ok with it, takes a certain passion/addiction. I look at it like passion, because although I couldn't stop if I wanted to, I really don't want to, unlike smoking, I can't stop even though I want to. well, I was gonna start a post to see how many skydivers partook in recreational pharmaceuticals, but I guess this covers it S.E.X. party #1 "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "f*#k, what a ride".

I was talking to a guy the other day, who was asking me about jumping, and I made a comment about the fact that if you really are going to pursue the sport, you need to have passion. Enough passion that you are willing (not read in any way shape or form wishing), to die doing something you love. Putting it like that made me think, that this can't be something that a whole bunch of people are willing to do. The people who only jump once figure they played chicken, and won, good enough. The people who jump regularly though have to come to terms with things like that, and I'm wondering if that's why it's so hard to 1) explain things to whuffos, and 2) why most skydiver/whuffo relationships don't work.
