You'll have to thank Cora for that. She was the mastermind behind the big payoff. You finished it already? What, did she get you a sixer? Your calf muscles are going to tense up a bit because the resistance you're encountering is obviously not like what you'll experience in the air. This is mainly a little exercise I used when I first started freeflying so that my legs would remember what it was like to maintain a constant, even pressure for one full minute. Based on what Chris and others have mentioned, if you still want to do this exercise, you might want to try and adjust your chair so that you are in less of a sitting position, perhaps in between a sit and a stand, but less than halfway to a stand. Again, this worked for me, but I was merely trying to teach my wandering legs what it felt like to hold steady pressure on my feet in that position. Yeah, I agree with Peej. That not only helps me get MY mind on the right track as far as my own freeflying progression, but it helps me be better able to give the right advice and assistance to new freeflyers. I've been reviewing the jumps we made at the Dublin boogie, almost daily, and I've been picking up new tips and ideas almost every time I watch how you flew your body during those jumps. Thanks for the clarification, Chris. That helped me too. Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school.

Thanks for all of the information regarding delivery times. I'm not going to stress out about it. If it takes months, it takes months. I'd rather it DIDN'T, but I have other pusuits in skydiving that I can focus on until my Firebird gets here. Are you able to hold your sit for the entire dive, or are you corking to your back/stomach frequently? I know that picture is a rather brief moment in the entire dive, but it looks as if you're doing what most beginning freeflyers do to get stable, which is leaning forward over your knees with your arms way back behind you to try and compensate for the backsliding that is caused by leaning forward like that. While there are certainly more experienced freeflyers here who will be able to better guide and correct you, you may want to practice proper body position, focusing on your upper body, while sitting in a chair. There's some good material towards the end of this thread (clicky) that might help build some muscle memory in your legs as well as help with your upper body postioning. Edited to add: Beautiful picture, by the way.

Own it. LOVE it. I think I dig Jupiter a bit more than Mars at this point, but I'm sure that impression will even out the more I listen to both CDs. Weak legs, not being able to maintain positive, even leg pressure in a sit, appears to be one of the biggest problems for beginning freeflyers early on. This may sound silly, but if you have a job where you sit fairly frequently, here's a little exercise I used to build up that muscle memory in my legs: Slide forward in your chair until you are able to position your legs a little more than shoulder-width apart and forming as close to 90-degree angles at your hips and knees as possible. Make sure you are able to keep your upper body posture correct (not leaning forward or backward) as well. Now press down evenly with both feet until you begin to feel the pressure of your butt in the seat decrease, but not to the point where you are no longer in contact with the chair. Hold this for as long as you can up to a minute, then release it. Repeat this as often as you remember, for up to one minute each time. Try not to press down with only your heels or only your toes, but with even pressure along both feet. If you are in a chair that rolls, back it up against a wall or desk that won't move on you. I'm not saying this is an absolute fix for weak legs early on, but it certainly helped me build that muscle memory and learn what it would feel like to exert that pressure evenly with both legs. It feels good to be so self-righteous, doesn't it? Good on ya. Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school.

I was not aware of that. Interesting, to be sure, but not enough to balance out the perception I had that Dante was running his own time-spanning popularity contest. With regard to Dante's work, and understanding that it is considered to be of great literary value, I found it to be quite pretentious. I mean, Dante wrote it at least partly as a scathing denouncement of those people he saw as being to blame for the evils of his world, past and (his )present. Give the guy a break. I mean, he didn't slink away from all of this. He came back to admit he was wrong. He probably doesn't need the jackals to tear him to pieces over it after the fact. Deed done, apology rendered...can everyone involved, or heckling from the peanut gallery, let this go now? It's okay to apply the Golden Rule here. Great pictures, Arvel! You can really see a change in Rachael's demeanor out there since she finished her student progression and got her A license. Thanks for letting me mimic your tandem video routine this past weekend. Hopefully I'll get it all dialed in soon.

That thread title has me wondering something. Was the extra 'r' an attempt at writing out a rolling of the r's in Corona? That fool has some interesting biochemistry. He said the only time he gets a hang-over is when he drinks straight hard liquor. But you're right, it was still damn funny to watch him devolve into one of his worst nightmares: a college educated person who can't spell or structure sentences properly. I think he needs help from a Convent, if you know what I mean.
