Why isn't this potential cure for cancer getting more press? I know that it's in its infancy, and there's some concern over using a genetically modified adenovirus that could spread like wildfire, but I figured this would be getting more airtime considering the significance. Shit, Greg and I were just talking this weekend about how nobody flies here any more now that you left. He's practically mothballed his Extreme, and my Challenger is in pieces in the guest room. I think I'll ditch the Challenger for good and move up to the Extreme. See, I think it was a bit over the top and cartoonish. I suppose it will be good to get some perspective on the character through HL's version of it, as Jack's is the only one we've been privy to for quite a long time. There's potential in this reborn franchise. I just don't want to see it squandered in a ploy to put butts in seats. Lords of dogtown is one that I've been wanting to see for a while now, so maybe it's time to get some perspective on the scope of HL's talent. I just don't want to see what has been a rather tough reforging of the Batman franchise go the way of the craptacular days of three or four cartoonish and over the top big stars all dividing the focus to the point where there was no point in watching each of the movies straight through from beginning to end in one sitting. I think some excellent ground was gained with the rebirth of this story, and I don't want to see it flounder like the old franchise did. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Heath Ledger, but is he the absolute best choice for the Joker in the new Batman movie? I thought the new polish and edge they put on what had rapidly become a joke of a franchise was a step in the right direction if the Batman series was to remain alive as anything other than a repository for over-the-top performances by the same tired old actors. But is Heath the best choice for a character like the Joker that can essentially make or break this reborn franchise as it tries to forge its way back into the good graces of the masses? I suppose we'll have to wait and see if he can pull off that role without sending the movie into a cheeseball tailspin. I actually like this idea best of all of them. But she needs to sit next to some old lady and after she releases the cloud o'death, she should turn slowly toward the old lady and grimace, maybe whispering in an overly loud voice that the old lady may have soiled her Depends. I mean, let's make this as surreal as possible. But yeah, the chaffing in church is my favorite idea so far. Event Horizon was a bit spooky. Evil Dead stopped being the least bit spooky for me when the girl got molested by the tree early on. Plus, I'd read the production journal of one of the crew and I was too fascinated with what I knew was going on to make that movie happen.
