Conservative Pundits Grasp at Straws to Fuel Right-Wingers' Paranoia
Lefty replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
Come on, even alternet (and, by extension, you) can admit that Douglass' blog entry was poorly worded. It was a gift-wrapped line from a gaffe-heavy administration for conservatives to whack around. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin -
Faith Healing Parents Let Daughter Die of Untreated Diabetes
Lefty replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
My blood doesn't boil often, but this is one of those times. Fuck "faith healing" and fuck those crazies. How could they let their little girl die like that? Edit: Furthermore, not one of those people in their little drum circle lifted a finger to help her. All it would have taken is a moment of clarity in a person's mind to realize "Holy crap, this is really stupid" and save her life. Man... This is cruel. There are better alternatives - the ones who are unable to take care of themselves should have a personal government czar to be appointed, and follow his direction. Czar: "OK, dry yourselves up and extract useful minerals from your body." Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin

You'll have to explain to me how that works. Do the doctors work for free? If not, why not? Indeed. Maybe a little dose of healthy competition would do it some good. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin

Thank heavens for Britain's gun control laws, otherwise stuff like that might happen. Oh wait... Try this: replace the word "gun" in the headline with "gang" and see how much better the headline fits the story. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin

Same reason they should make money for your food problems or shelter problems. As if the government's motives are any more altruistic. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
