Doing a jump with a few others with a high breakoff but came up with the idea that me and another person could track off together for a bit then separate. The formation never really built but on breakoff saw the other person (though they saw me too) so proceeded to track off towards them. Took a little bit to catch up closer to them and didn't notice they were waving off when I was nearer but still higher. Saw the pilot chute release and was glad I wasn't closer. Still did some evasive manuevers and then deployed myself with not incident. * Secondary dives on skydives are probably not the smartest anyways, but if planned should only be done if both people get into whatever the primary jump is and should probably not involve tracking together. 1st jump of last weekend was wingsuiting and playing near clouds. Even saw my reflection in one. Deployed a bit lower than I normally do and could not find the DZ. Unzipped, stowed, etc. then found a horse pasture. While setting up to land saw the DZ landing area. As I was already low I was flying in half brakes to conserve altitude and the landing area did not seem the smoothest so wanted the slower approach. Just in front of me in the middle of the field I see a low electric fence which I went to just about 3/4 brakes to pop up over. Having no time to let up I resign that this landing is gonna suck and flare the rest of the way to land. Did I mention it was really hot? When I landed I rolled my left ankle and then sorta slid on my side/butt so no PLF. * When wingsuiting, always try to spot the DZ while flying and definitely before exiting. * If unable, might want to pull higher. * Don't play with the clouds too low. * Try to either know the hazards of the outs around or spot them early if possible. * PLF, PLF, PLF. I think this may be more the nature of the site's general audience than the moderation. Skydivers as a general group probably skew more liberal overall as we're likely to be at least partly socially liberal. I can't think that many skydivers that would be for laws banning all skydiving. For some, that may be where it ends as there are those that at one time or another wanted to ban or limit just about every aspect of this sport that they don't participate in, For others that may just be supporting banning or limiting other activities they don't participate in. For society as a whole as more people question social conservatism, its basises, its impact, one may find additional people establishing a more "live and let live" philosophy.

Minimal regulation is needed, but it needs to be enforced consistently and not be a conflict of interest. What we had in both cases you mentioned was appearance of regulation, some cases of over overregulation, and some of just downright fraud. Anytime you have someone telling someone not to do something but not enforcing it or if caught there are no real consequences you're going to have people not only disobeying but others getting a false sense of security.
