  1. Let's not forget this tidbit... Not only has he not shown respect for DUI laws, but many others as well. Geez, at least respect the laws enough to not get caught. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  2. So even when alive, Jesus could only perform "miracles" for those that already believed? I'd think if one wanted to truly save all and had the power to do so, showing non believers in your "home town" miracles would be far more effective. That is, unless he was just a man and not the son/embodiment of God. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

  4. Just to toss a little more gas on the fire . . . Did you know that when it comes to marketing films, "old" is considered anyone past 25? Aren't they still playing teens at that age? Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

  6. This isn't too bad... 1. There is an actual reason for the lycra. 2. They're actually doing something that will reduce the beer gut. Just as an aside, unless you are actually training for the olympics, there is never, ever, an excuse for a speedo. Exactly. Too much fabric. 7. No fault? So I could register a dump truck in BC and go around smashing into cars and only have to pay for my repairs? That's the problem with no fault, as someone always is. It can be shared, but if there was really no fault, there wouldn't have been a collision to begin with.
  8. So you could afford the penalty but not the insurance?? Hmm... Eventually, yes. I got a payment plan so I paid the charges off during the course of a few months, using my last paycheck to completely finish them. Did your insurance not provide you with any flexibility on payments? Did you ask? Did you shop around? Or did you pay the fine because the impact affected *you* whereas the insurance only affected a hypothetical other person..? Again.. Hmm.. Rarely are people left with NO OPTIONS. They make choices. Sometimes options are limited and choices are hard to make. But there are VERY few circumstances where I would agree that not paying insurance & still driving was the *right* choice. I don't know all your circumstances, but you're going to find it hard to convince me - why don't we agree to disagree. After all, mine is only an opinion - people are entitled to have different points of view. If a fully insured driver and an uninsured driver get into an accident, regardless of fault. The fully insured driver gets: * All the health care and/or rehab they need. * They get a loaner car while their car is being repaired or if totaled out, $$$ towards another car. (dependent on fault/level of coverage) The uninsured driver: * If at fault, gets nothing and now likely has no vehicle. * If not at fault, now will likely be denied or severely limited compensation from the insurance company as they were driving illegally. * Treated for immediate injuries but on their own for rehab. * If at fault, could be sued or garnished later by the insurance company on future earnings. You make it sound like there is no risk at all to the uninsured where they're actually taking the largest risk. I think everyone should obey the law and have insurance, but also could see situations where people who are barely making it, right or wrong, may see it as their only option. 9. I realize you're just trying to have fun with this, but at least contribute something productive to the conversation. These little snide remarks don't do anything. No one in here suggested that ALL religious people are evil. Religion is just the root of a large percentage of the world's violence. Ha! The snide remark did something, because you responded, and I don't think there's anything productive to contribute to such a silly thread, but I'll try... Many are too short sighted and/or close minded to see that it's also the root of a large percentage of the world's peace. How was that? An anology: Two guys are working in a homeless shelter. Both work equally hard and help out. One guy is doing it because he believes it's the right thing to do and just wants to help others. The other guy is there only because of a cute chick there he wants to bang. While the actions may be the same, the motives are not. Well, I know which on I am! Okay, now replace homeless shelter with a terrorist group. One guy is doing it because he believes it's the right thing to do and just wants to help others by putting an end to their "infedel" lives. The other guy is there only because of the virgins he's been promised. In both cases, you have a believer and a reward influenced person. The latter can be shaped or "bought" to join a variety of groups. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  10. I agree with everything you said apart from this statement.. Some people are just big softies - not like you or me! But they are still misguided. In my experience some of those nice people or "softies" are like that because they don't like confrontation and will say what they think other people want to hear (even if it's a lie) just to avoid it. The biggest problem is most crushes exist in a grey area as neither party comes out and directly says their feelings. 11. It's not a right, but in some places in the US, not driving is not really an option either if they want to keep their job. Then again I suppose if they just went on food stamps and welfare, they wouldn't have to drive. Shitty choice either way. Hope I never have to make them. Although I appreciate that driving in the US is *important*, I maintain that in the vast majority of cases, there is no excuse for driving without insurance. As someone already pointed out: if you can't afford insurance, you can't afford to drive. I simply do not accept that you need to drive and you can't afford insurance. I think that 99% of the time this is simply not true. People have options, is all I'm sayin'. When you choose to drive without insurance, you are saying that you are prepared to make someone else suffer severe financial distress and possibly forgo life-saving treatments because of your financial distress. Forgive me if I think this is wrong. Forgo life-saving treatments? No. Even in the US, you'll still get treated, it's the $$$ issue of who and how they get paid, Additionally the person without insurance is taking a large risk as well. Even if they have nothing at the time, should they start to turn things around, win the lottery, or get an inheritance, the insurance company can claim right to a portion of their future income. 12. I created the vote, so I'm clearly biased... I think if someone continues to have a crush on you, it's usually *mostly* because feelings are hard to turn off... But I think it's also quite common for people to encourage the person either because it suits them or because they don't want to hurt the other person's feelings. Either way, I think encouraging someone or stringing them along is either selfish or else misguided - you're not doing them any good... But I'm curious as to what other people think... The don't want to hurt them thing is pure bullshit. More like don't want to deal with it. Do they really think not being straight with someone hurts them less when they eventually find out? Been on both sides but when I'm the crushee I make my feelings perfectly clear. Should they continue to pursue afterwards, it's probably time to disassociate with them or at least scale way back. 16. So you are pissed off at A LOT of people in this forum then, no? Nope. I'm fairly consistent.
  17. Should the fine be so large that a person who is already in a financial crisis has to make the choice between daily survival or car insurance? What if the person lives to far to bike and there are no busses should the person take the risk of said ticket so he/she can support their family? Insurance is not cheap and there are many instances that a person/s in a financial situation will have to make the choice, rent or insurance, medicine or insurance, food for the kids or insurance. People who only see it in black and white have never been put in a situation where they have no food, no electricity, etc. I am not saying it is okay to drive with no insurance I am just saying in some cases I understand why it happens. Although I can see your point, one could also argue that driving is not a *right*. No insurance = no driving. It really *is* that simple. It's not a right, but in some places in the US, not driving is not really an option either if they want to keep their job. Then again I suppose if they just went on food stamps and welfare, they wouldn't have to drive. Shitty choice either way. Hope I never have to make them. He died on his motorcycle, on his way to work. Some idiot pulled out right in front of him, trying to cross 288. He t-boned the car. Died at the scene. Dennis was one of those very special people, I have known him since I started skydiving six years ago. He was a mentor to me. He helped me rig my first demo flag. He just came back from Oshkosh, got to jump every day, had a great time. He was one of those people who was always happy, always had something nice to day. He would do anything for anybody - just because. I can't think of anyone who didn't like and respect him. I am sorry, this is just so hard to write, so hard to believe. On Sunday, we had a cutaway, I was out there when we found the parachute, the freebag was was somewhere in a wheat field - 4 or 5 feet high, very hard to find. It was getting late, we couldn't find it. The next morning, Dennis came to me, he wanted to know where to look, so I told him where we found the parachute and where to look for the freebag. He also wanted to know how to get out there on the four-wheeler - it was a couple of miles. He went out on the four-wheeler, couldn't find it, then he took the cessna (172) up to look for it from the air. Took him about 3 hours or so, but he found it. He didn't get anything out of it. He probably paid for he cessna time himself - he loved to fly, he loved to jump, he loved being a rigger - I am very particular and he is one of the few people I trust to work on my canopies or repack my reserve. He did the tandem for my wife, he really made a difference for her, but he was always that way. I am sorry for rambling, but there are just so many good things to say about Dennis, and I can't think of anything bad. I will miss him dearly, Spaceland will just not be the same without him. I am not a bg fan of Shiner Bock, but that is what Dennis liked - I bought him a case once or twice for a cutaway (his reserve repack saved my life) and fixing a bad lineset form the factory. I am going to have a Shiner tonight, and burn a candle. He had such a positive affect on so many people. I need not worry about him finding peace in what lies beyond, I know he will - and he will make it a better place.
