I have close to 600 jumps on my Sabre2s, and 400+ of those jumps were with a camera (or multiple cameras) and it has been great. I too looked into the Spectre as my next canopy, but I wanted more performance so decided on a 9 cell instead of another 7 cell (I was jumping a Triathlon before going to a Sabre2) The reason PD recommends the Spectre as a "camera canopy" is because of the openings and overall characteristics of the canopy. 7 cell is more docile than 9 cell (generally) and docile is good, for many reasons. If you're under any kind of trouble under a Spectre it might be easier to fix the issue than it would be under a more high performance main. As Chopchop said as well, demo demo demo, don't just go by advice from people on here, make up your own mind about the canopy you want, specially when you buy brand new. I've set my mind on a Sabre2 135 now that I've jumped that for 2 weeks, but I am sure as hell going to try the Pilots that Chopchop is getting too.. to make sure I checked out all my options. Iwan

I agree.. I hardly use the padding but I have lots of it so you can make it fit you. In its current form, yes he would need a LARGE melon to make it fit, but adding some linerpadding it will be just fine. Iwan

It depends where you want to mount it, I personally prefer topmount, so I went with the TRV series camera (TRV17), but if you do sidemount, you would want a PC style camera. All of the cameras you mentioned above are very good cameras I haven't read bad stuff about any of them so far. Iwan

All, I never shoot autofocus, unless it's under canopy stuff and I am using a longer lens (50mm or so) and even then I hate autofocus. Since you're not able to look through the viewfinder and see what the camera decides to focus on, I don't like it. Personally I set my lenses to be in focus at about 5 / 6 feet out and further. Pick a smaller f stop (usually I shoot around F8) and you're money! To read a bit more about F stop, Quade has a small article here As to which settings I usually shoot, most of the time I shoot in shutter priority. Set my shutterspeed at 500 and have the camera pick the aperture, which usually comes out between 7.1 and 10. I started shooting fully manual more, and then on a "normal" skydiving day I shoot 1/500 and F8, with ISO set to 100. Just my 2cts though, to each his own, I just don't like shooting autofocus. Iwan

I notice your jumpnumbers.. and (ha ha.. ) there's nothing wrong with that.. but I assume you are starting off, or early on in flying camera. I've been flying with a Kenko .5 and a Canon EF 28mm lens on my Rebel 2000 and it worked great, and it still does. The reason I mentioned your numbers is that with a slightly less wide lens, you can stay further back a bit, and still get the frame filled with your subject, then as you get better and more comfortable, you can start with a slightly wider lens and move in closer. You know.. I've seen people a lot happier with a 10 dollar gift that meant something, that a 200 dollar gift that was just a gift to "show off" that you're willing to spend that much money on someone. Make the gift have a meaning, it will be much more appreciated than an expensive gift. Just my 2cts (wow.. that was cheap eh? )
