  1. Perhaps because they were all made so long ago? Not sure why people are always posting on here asking if they should buy a camera that was discontinued years ago. When I was in the market for a camera one year ago, I only considered newly made stuff. My HC90 has lasted one year so far and is still working fine. I'm sure in a couple years it will stop working, but at least I will have got a full life span out of it. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  2. You could also try to demo an Aerodyne rig for the whole week. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  3. Yeh, I actually made a little spreadsheet (bored at work) showing weight specs for a bunch of different lenses. ANYTHING is heavier than the cheapo 18-55 kit lens (which happens to be what I'm using right now). So I guess that is one advantage of the kit lens, besides price. It is very light. The 10-22 is almost twice the weight of the 18-55, but still pretty good in comparison to all the other higher-quality zoom and fixed lenses I looked at. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  4. Actually, in the research I've done, I found that lens to be very light (comparatively), lighter than every other zoom lens I found and even many fixed lenses! It's spec weight is 385g, while most other lenses I found were 400-600g. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  5. They probably could answer any questions you have about pixels and lens diameter at that very same shop... www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  6. I am sitting about a mile away from Skyventure right now. I'm sure the answer to your question depends on the answer to this one - which shop? I want that lens and for that price would buy it now, but as I said in a recent thread, if the price sounds too good to be true, it usually is. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  7. There goes the neighborhood. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  8. There is a bit of length and width leeway in my TRV box. It's hard to say exactly what it is, but I think you MAY be just on the borderline of being ok. Only one way to find out. I have a bunch of business cards shimming the width of my box, so there may be an extra 1/4" there. And there is some leeway in the length (MAYBE 1/2") too but I just put my camera in the center and when I close the top it holds it tight. Bonehead says you can use this for sidemount and I know of a few people out there who do, but for me it looked way too wide so I topmounted. I don't even like the idea of sidemounting, now that I'm used to topmounting. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  9. Since I'm experimenting with very basic HP landings now, I finally started bringing my slider down behind my neck, and opening up my chest strap a bit. Is there any real risk while pulling the slider down past the stowed breaks of accidentally unstowing one of them? To me it seems possible, but not a huge deal, and I just pay close attention to what I'm doing as I pull it down. Any thoughts on this? www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  10. Where is that? www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  11. No, actually we just paid them to take us up, open the door, and look out. I'll post some more pics or video soon. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

  13. I am using HC90, I assume dimensions are fairly similar to HC96 (it is a followup model). I have encountered very few other people using this same camera. I am using mine in a Bonehead TRV 19/22/23 box (and a modified HC40 condom) which works as they say on their page. I am probably going to build my own custom box soon... www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  14. Congratulations... please take this with a grain of salt but if you jump with 3 people on your 2nd jump and never see any of them, doubling that number for your next jump is not really a great idea. Consider focusing on solos and 2-ways until you are able to fly more stable and be more aware of the others in the sky. This is not freeflying, so "corking" is not an issue, but closing speeds in wingsuits can be VERY high and if there are a bunch of people in the sky unaware of each other, it's only a matter of time before two of them head for the same piece of sky. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  15. Wow. Absolutely beautiful photo. The smoke, sun, and lens-flare all add to it. Congrats guys. Do you know if Mark used a flash for that shot? Looking forward to the video!

One solution is to take a Cameye and put new LED's on it. Every part of a Cameye would be easy to reproduce except the button with the little circuit card in it (I wouldn't know how to make that part, at least). I don't really have an issue with my Cameye's brightness though, when it all comes down to it. I can see it in freefall if I need to. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I was wondering about that, didn't know if anybody was using it yet. Brighter sounds good, but I really like the button on my Cameye. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  18. Not the answer you're looking for, but as I just said in another thread, performance is in the pilot. Tony nearly kicked my ass in this suit (me in S3), but I have seen others fly it very poorly. I have not flown it, so I can't really answer your question properly. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  19. Holy shit, Isis is opening for Tool. That is badass, those guys are really good. Now they still need to come to FL, and they still need to play in something smaller than an arena for me to even go. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  20. With the right pilot its pretty respectable. Agreed. And to nitpick with the original poster: forward speed has NO use on a fixed object jump. You're looking for GLIDE RATIO. Which again, can be obtained from an Acro. To repeat a discussion at my local DZ, here is what makes a good wingsuit pilot. 1. Skills 2. Body type 3. Suit In that order. Learn to fly the suit you have, and you'll be fine. Watch Superterminal - they're using modified Classics! At the World Wingsuit Comp, 1st place was in an S-Fly, GR=1.9. The 2nd and 3rd place GR's were both ~1.7, in a Vampire and a Phantom. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

    V-2?

Hey Danny, Try using jpg, not gif. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  22. Well you can use Google Maps to calculate the distance, I'd think normally an hour would be sufficient, but in the morning on the weekdays I-4 eastbound can get VERY backed up... I'm always going west in the morning and looking across the median at the other side sitting still. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  23. He's a nut and a hilarious guy... I'm pretty sure he's going to Rantoul and Summerfest too, so maybe you will get to see the suit up close Zach. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  24. Yeh, Tony liked that too and asked me to post that one. I just like seeing people's smiling faces is all.
