Who cares what Clinton did. He has nothing to do with this discussion. I really don't understand why you keep mentioning him. Why do you keep bringing up Clinton? Are you suggesting what Bush did was ok because Clinton would have done the same thing?
-
I think making stuff up in an attempt to get international support for the invasion of Iraq is wrong. Don't you?
-
True, its just an impression i got.
-
Well you can litter your post with crazy faces all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that Bush's reason for invading Iraq was that Saddam had WMD and was an imminent threat to the USA. And he didn't and he wasn't.
-
LOL. It doesn't matter what the topic, what the thread, everything you write gets savaged by RL or LMWB. What *did* you do?
-
This report will turn out to be bollocks. Besides, the justification for the invasion was WMD. He was an imminent threat to the USA. Remember????
-
So you recon rich people spend a larger percentage of their annual income than poor people do?
-
John, have you noticed that none of the Brits contributing to this thread give a shit about the UK handgun ban? Why do you suppose that is? Do you think we're representative of UK opinion? If not, why not?
-
It's what you're used to I guess. I would rather my government spanked a few thugs than locked people up without charge for years on end and tortured them. Jeffrey, the reason that the death penalty doesn't disuade people from murder is the number of people executed for murder is incredibly low. 478 executions in the whole of the United States from 1990-1999. Even amongst prisoners on death row the annual execution rate is only 2 percent. Whereas, in Singapore, if you are caught with over a certain amount of heroin you die. Its easy to understand, and only the really stupid end up getting executed. Do you honestly believe that if a government executed anyone found in possession of an illegal firearm it wouldn't reduce the number of illegal firearms involved in crime?
-
I guess that's why the US government operates its program of extrodinary rendition.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4533342.stm I think time is running out for poor old George and his buddies.

The article is claiming around 75% turnout. Which is shit when you compare it voter turnout under Saddams rule: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/769961/posts

You said, and I quote you: "How about the over 350K found in Mass graves". The only source you have that mentions a number near that (300k+) is a Shia newspaper article written in 2003. A figure which has subsequently been discredited.
-
Well except for maybe this one. Its from the article you posted.
-
Brits and Americans are so similar in many ways so its kind of interesting that this kind of humour fails to translate at all.
-
Do you mean all the insurgents that weren't there before the invasion? Also, with regard to mass graves, you are wrong. Note the date below and do try to keep up! http://politics.guardian.co.uk/iraq/story/0,12956,1263901,00.html

I can't work out what is behind Ahmadinejads comments. This isn't the first time he has said blatantly inflamatory stuff about Israel. It is almost as if he is goading Israel to bomb Irans nuclear reactors.

I think you're misinterpreting the word brave. Like Bill says, it doesn't equate to honorable or decent. I think that in order to carry out 9/11 some of the terrorists at least had to accept that they were going to die as a result of it. If coming to terms with thier own demise was a difficult process for them then, by the definition of the word, they were brave. If, however, their faith made it an easy decision, then in my view they were not brave.
-
And what about the guy who throws himself on the grenade to save his buddies? Surely a cowardly act by your definition.
-
Oh come on. It was pretty fucking obvious that the accidental bombing of the Al-jazeera news rooms was not really accidental. Frankly, whenever the US government of armed forces deny anything, which they *always* do as the first option, it usually turns out to be true. Remember these classics? "We didn't bomb a wedding party - it was a gathering of insurgents, even the women and 5 year olds" "We didn't wipe-out that Iraqi market - we don't know how those fragments of bomb with our markings got there" "Our guards and interrogation staff have not been torturing prisoners and buggering young Iraqis" "It was not a convoy of Afghani diplomats, honestly." Bombing news agencies. Freedom of speech. Anyone spot the discrepancy?

Am I the only person who thinks its a bit creepy that JohnRich has posted a non-gun related thread in SC?

Yeah, and so might Ares, but I was referring to real Gods, not the made up ones.

Further info is here: http://www.gregpalast.com/detail.cfm?artid=417&row=0 Up until now I though the idea that Iraq was invaded because of oil was merely conspiracy theory. Now I'm not so sure.

This bugs me. It is possible to believe that Israeli government sponsored slaughter of Palestinian children is as shitty and inhumane as the carnage caused by Palestinian suicide bombers without being anti-semitic. Are Jews who think the Israelis are arseholes anti-semitic too? There are plenty that do. Lets face it, there is no excuse or justification for the behaviour of either side of this conflict. One side isn't better behaved than the other. Both sides are using illegal and abhorent methods to inflict suffering on the other. The irony is that despite their claims, no God of any description would approve of the behaviour of any of them.

LOL. You clearly know fuck-all about the French.
