I voted no. During the ten years I lived in London there were a handfull of times when I felt unsafe and wished I'd had a weapon on me, but not once did I actually need one. However, in that time my bike was stolen, my motorbike was stolen, my car radio was stolen, my front door was broken in, i was given false details at the scene of an accident, i was sold fake hash and my walls were grafitti'd. Maybe I was lucky, or maybe its a fact that because the Brits are simply not a weapon fanatical bunch, but the crime in the UK, even in the innrer cities, is mainly of the petty kind of irritating shit I've listed above. btw - It's probably best to refrain from sourcing GMTV polls - they really can't be taken too seriously.

Israel Crimes-Israeli Apartheid. From an Israelis point of view.

I'm interested to know who posting here has spent any significant amount of time in Israel, and whether they travelled around and witnessed any of the "apartheid" spoken of by idrankwhat at first hand. -

This discussion between falxori and idrankwhat is actually very interesting and really doesn't benefit much from your input. If you've got something to add to the debate then chuck it in, otherwise just shut up and read like the rest of us. -
I very much doubt it was dumb luck, it was just made to look that way to protect sources. Standard practice.

No, it's not that. Its the torture, invasion of other countries, indiscriminate killing of innocents and pig-headed arrogance that's the problem.

If all the commonwealth veterans get into the UK using this ruse the National Health service will self destruct.

Yes, we should leave. The British General Sir Michael Rose has just commented on this. He told the Newsnight programme in the UK: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6618075.stm

No, what *really* sucks is that despite all the expenditure and death and inconvenience caused by this so-called War on Trrrrrrr the number of higher casualty terror attacks remains nearly the same .

You don't have to read it. *** I can't help it, it's addictive. It's like watching Fox News or CNN for several hours at a time, but less interesting.

This is the most boring thread I've read in Speakers Corner for a long time. For crying out loud spice it up a bit or someone move it to Bonfire.

So you really like her, but you already a. Disapprove of her driving. b. Disapprove of her pot smoking. c. Disapprove of her phoning whilst driving. Hmmm. How are you going to feel about her six months down the line when the shagging dries up and all those cute little things she does become majorly irritating? Either loosen up a bit (hey, pots good for that) or get a new girlfriend ... Girlfriend.

The Iranians and the Brits are both guilty of making a diplomatic pigs arse of the situation. This is about as good a recovery as both sides could have made after their initial posturing. Nobody got hurt. It's an excellent result.
-
I'm saying that it could easily be policy to harass the Iranians by straying into their territory.
-
I qualified it with "It's a possibility". Your willingness to believe any old shit our government comes out with despite its proven track record for making stuff up reveals your bias. The facts divulged to the general public by governments are regularly different to the reality. Its called spin and TB is renowned for it. The fact that you take it for face value just shows what a great job he does.

I think its totally in control. Imagine if... The UK boat was deliberately in Iranian waters. The number of incedence of this type had increased lately and it is getting too dificult to ignore. Iran had to deal with it this time. The Iranians remand the crew and demand an apology. They should expect an appology; any nation would at least expect that. But the UK don't give them one. Instead they say the ship was in Iraqi waters, they produce 'evidence' to support their claim and they demand their crew back. The PR machines go into overdrive. The whole world gets to hear the UK version of story. It very quickly becomes fact. The Iranians can't release the crew now. They would look guilty, foolist and weak. What does Iran do? They know the boat was in Iranian waters, members of the captured crew has admitted they were in Iranin waters. Yet the world does not believe them. So they put some of the crew on TV. Now they are really fucked. More bad PR. More spin. The world has been given a clear demonstration of how evil and agressive Iran can be. Do we want a nation like that getting nukes? No we fucking do not! Its a possibility.

Darius you're bashing your head against a brick wall with this one. You're simply not going to drum up any sympathy for Iran whilst they have got a complete fucking lunatic in charge. And he IS a complete fucking lunatic.
-
They've released a picture of a GPS display. If the Iranians had done that, would you consider it hard evidence?
-
I gree with Darius on this one. Its possible, if not pretty likely, that the brits were in Iranian waters again. If so, Iran are within their rights to make an issue of it. The idea that they can provide GPS evidence to prove they were not is laughable. There would be outrage if a foriegn navy started doing exercises off the coast of the UK or USA, yet Iran is just expected to put up with what is a blatant provocation.

They were told there were no friendlies about and they asked several times. They flew over the the vehicles repeatedly trying to work out what they were. They were under time pressure - the vehicles were approaching a village. Someone fucked up, but I don't think it was them. They are only guilty of making a judgement based on incorrect information. I hope they don't get anything more than a severe bollocking for this.

Not at all. The US govenment has spent the last 5 years decimating 2 nations. It is responsible for the deaths of thousands and thousands of men women and children. It has sponsored torture. It holds peple without charge. It violates peoples human rights and breaks the rules laid out in the GC. And whilst doing all this it was re-elected. The bashing is not enough. The administration should be strung and the idiots that voted for them sent for compulsory education in world affairs and banned from evet voting again.

Kind of what you expect from a plane load of thick northern twats.

Hi slug That's a very good question, but I can't see it's relevance to this thread. Please elaborate

Jews support israel. Jews in positions of power in the US government and the US media propagate the notion that Israelis are "people just like us" to garner support from non-Jewish Americans. It works. In Europe, Israelis and Arabs are seen as pretty much the same. Moderates on both sides, fanatics on both sides. That said, EU cash goes predominately to Palestine, but maybe thats just because we all favour the under-dog.
