  1. Hey all, Was bought a camera for Christmas, as I will start flying with camera this year... My girlfriend bought it for me as a complete surprise...but I've no idea if it's suitable/the right choice for the job... It's a Sony HC22E - link here :- http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.action?product=DCR-HC22E&site=odw_en_GB&pageType=Overview&category=CAM+MiniDV I've got the choice to add some money and change it if it isn't right, but I'm clueless to be honest ! (would have obviously done some research had I known) Thanks guys, Dave --- One life...Use it.
  2. Haha...I know her!...Does really nice pack jobs too! --- One life...Use it.
  3. What about triple penetration? Can you tell about that one? Not sure about afterwards, but I'd think you'd have problems telling anyone during.... --- One life...Use it.
  4. I had my rigger convert my Javelin from throw-out hackey to throw-out freefly pud.... I found it does take a good few jumps to get used to, even after a bit of ground practise, but the extra security of it makes me feel more comfortable. Just pull higher for a while until you get the hang of it.... --- One life...Use it.
  5. I like shreddies....nice when they're left in the bowl with milk for a while and go almost mushy... I try to stay away from the sugar coated ones, but the crunchy-nut cornflakes are damn nice. Harvest Cruch is nice, but you have to wait an age for it to go soggy... Breakfast...best meal of the day! --- One life...Use it.
  6. Ohmygod...all the kitten killers out there NEED to watch the clip titled "CAT FAN" (number 12 in the 'Top Rated section at the moment) --- One life...Use it.
  7. Ok, firstly. what gives you the impression I'm out to impress anybody? - if it's the 'cool' statement in my post, then it was meant as a 'cool..that was easy and I had no problems' - not as a 'Whoa dude, look at me I'm a skydiver'. If airline/security policy allows rigs on board, why try and hide it? - by hiding it inside another bag, your almost inviting a search when it goes through security. - 'Playing nice' to me doesn't include hiding things in bags. 'Playing nice' is being honest about what you are taking on board, and having some documentation to back you up should they start to question things. You also make it sound like a wuffo vs skydiver war..ok, I've only been in the 'sport' for a year or so, but I've yet to experience any such attitude...do you expect people to be scared of you because you skydive ? --- One life...Use it.
  8. Why try and hide it in a bag ? wear it like a backpack and the vast majority of people won't even know what it is... ..Try and hide things in a bag and I think you're going to be more liable to be stopped and have things looked at when they see it under x-ray. --- One life...Use it.
  9. Just got back after a 10 day trip....Liverpool to Girona on Ryan air... Walked on with the rig with no problems either way...the security guys at Liverpool had a bit of a discussion between them and then decided they could let it on. Didn't even have it in a bag, just tied my reserve handle up and wore it over my shoulders...cool! --- One life...Use it.
  10. We once put a load of maggots in a guys car (under the drivers seat) - It was a warm summer, so they should have hatched pretty quickly....wish I'd seen his face when his car was covered in flies... The only problem with a prank like that is that we never actually got to see the results --- One life...Use it.
  11. I'm heading out this weekend with Ryanair...got an email saying they've increased the hand-baggage limit to 10kg (was7kg) Gonna try and carry it on this time...fingers crossed! --- One life...Use it.

    I am NEVER...

I hope you don't mean Atkins and Body for Life there ! One is the right way, the other one isn't! I'm with AggieDave on this one! Understanding metabolism isn't rocket science, and eating that little food isn't gonna do much apart from starve your body --- One life...Use it.
  13. ROFLMAO !! - I really need to google for the rest of the rolodex tips now! Doh...I should read the whole thread before replying - there's some funny (and nasty) stuff in there! --- One life...Use it.
  14. So you're saying it should be right then left for a Javelin ? (just to clear this up, as there's been some discussion about Wings in this thread) --- One life...Use it.

    1999 Javelin ?

Thanks for all the replies guys, knew I could count on you! It does indeed have a Spectre 150 in it at the moment. (7 cell should pack a bit smaller so hopefully it's not too much of a tight fit) I'll have a good look at it this weekend, along with a rigger of course.

    1999 Javelin ?

Hey all, Have the opportunity to buy a Nov 1999 manufactured javelin (TJN) Can anyone tell me if there are major differences in a 1999 Javelin to a new one ? - Any modifications I should be aware of and checking on ? Can't find info about the differences on sunpaths website. Thanks Dave. --- One life...Use it.
  17. Yeah, the wind can be a bit of a problem if it starts blowing out to sea (unsurprisingly, they don't like the possibility of students getting blown over the town!) Having said that, I went for a week and completed AFF in two days! (three including groundschool) - and had a few (ahem) hangovers to contend with during the week too! Do it...You'll have a blast! --- One life...Use it.
  18. I did my AFF in Empuria - not with FreeFall though, but direct with the school/instructors at Empuria. Found them excellent overall, highly recommend them - the atmosphere and place is on a different level to the UK (in my limited experience). If you do decide to do it there, you'll have an awesome time. Check http://www.skyrats.com for info - you can phone and book direct with them. Feel free to ask/PM me if you want any more info... --- One life...Use it.
  19. Hehehee.....I might just be ugly enough to get away with that one ! --- One life...Use it.
  20. Yeah, but I've seen one person carry it onboard from Girona to Stanstead before.... I know if I ask em, I'll get a 'no' response, just wondered what peoples real life experience had been like.... Do most people check them in then ?? - Gonna have to buy a bag if thats the case!! --- One life...Use it.
  21. I've done a search and it seems a few people have managed it in the past, but does anyone know if they allow rigs as hand luggage now ? Reading their website I think they're over the max weight for hand luggage, but I'm not too keen on checking it in ! Off to Empuria in a couple of weeks to hopefully return with my first rig !!
  22. Cool...thanks for all the replies guys. I'll either put up with the colour, or wait and get a different rig. --- One life...Use it.
  23. Is it possible to dye a container/harness ? - there's a container up for sale, but it's got a rather 'interesting' colour scheme at the moment.... Just wondering if I've got any way of changing the colour if I decide to buy it...obviously, the colour isn't the most important thing, but it'd be nice if I could get it back to something more appealing...like a total black or something... --- One life...Use it.
  24. LMAO....was actually laughing out loud trying to imagine that scene... Please post if you can find it! --- One life...Use it.
