    Not to hijack your thread John, but I am so envious when I see the British system in action. From the Leave vote to Cameron's quick resignation, Leadsom's quick concession and May's quick election. In my country our President has been charged with rape, admitted unsafe sex, admitted adultery, over 100 fraud charges to be tested in court against him, having spent R200 million of the tax payers' money on his private residence, close associates convicted of corruption involving him, but resign? Not a chance!! He just giggles.... Back to the Brits - I really like the way Theresa May has been conducting herself. She certainly has the right stuff, including parliamentary experience, although I would also have liked to see more of Andrea Leadsom. She seems to be very capable too. The opposition are citing Theresa May's insistence on an election when Brown became Prime Minister, while she said no election until at least 2020? Will that come back to bite her?

    The incorrect use of 'so' has become very common down here, especially when answering a question. For example, a financial journalist might ask "To what do you attribute the gains of the Rand against the Dollar?" and the expert replies with "So the emerging markets.......". It drives me to distraction! I have been amazed at the speed with which these bad linguistic habits spread! I am in IT and these days I cannot attend any gathering of more than two people with at least one of them abusing "So" in this way.

    I have several linguistic pet hates, but the one which probably irks me the most is when 'like' is used to mean 'said', as in "....and so I was like sure, man" instead of "and so I said 'Sure, man'". This way of speaking has become all pervasive and is most evident among the so-called celebrities these days. I find it extremely difficult to engage in conversation with someone who speaks like that. Many of the posters on this forum use this evolution bastardisation of the language frequently.

    Several years ago I was in a pub in a diamond mining town in Botswana. A South African (on his first visit to Botswana) ordered a beer and paid in SA Rands, which was not uncommon, and was given his change in Botswana Pula, which was equally common. He threw the Pula note down onto the counter, from where it fell to the floor, and insisted on getting his change in SA Rands. Five minutes later two uniformed policemen turned up and escorted the guy out of the pub. He had been reported to the authorities for showing disrespect to the Botswana president, whose face was also on the Pula note.

    There is a huge difference between 'not pulling punches' and 'hitting below the belt'. Trumps is a crude, boorish, racist narcissist who plays to his equally crude, populist audience. I cringe every time I happen to see him speak.

    I do a lot of "e-commerce" and use Paypal all the time. They are reliable, and if ever a refund or cancellation is called for they process it very efficiently. I have never had a bad experience with them

    It is indeed refreshing to read rope-a-dope's well written and coherent posts. It is also ironic that the more sanctimonious and condescending the posts of some of the other contributors, the further away they were from ever even seeing a war zone.

    Most static line progression programs incorporate 1 or more 3-sec delay freefalls. I know mine did, but I do not recall any adverse openings as a result?

    Not only did this moron shoot a baited, collared, half tame lion while it was feeding, he also shot an endangered white rhino and a buffalo. For what? So he can have his picture taken with them???? While I doubt much will happen to him, I do hope both he and his so-called 'professional guide' end up in that prison together.

    As per normal, the actual subject of this thread was abandoned within a few posts so that the usual suspects can spew their normal bile. Did anyone notice that the suspect is wearing an old (apartheid) South African flag and what looks like an old Rhodesian flag on his jacket - see the attached picture. Anyone care to speculate on his motives now?

    While I agree with the sentiment I do believe there is a difference between facing near death by jumping from a plane and having a mal, and hearing AK rounds ricocheting off the wall you are crouching behind.

    Actually it should be camel's "nose" not camel's toe. As far as the quip about 10,000 unemployed comedians...taking that one too seriously maybe? Exactly. A "camel's toe" is something completely different, isn't it?
