Sitting at work feeling bored right now. Can’t help of thinking about 3 years back in time. I had just come to the conclusion that a career shift was the right thing to do. A former colleague called me and asked if I was interested in joining the company he was working for as a service manager. When he explained what my ‘new’ job would be about it wasn’t a very hard decision and I basically decided to resign from my position. So I signed my new contract (since I also was guaranteed a HUGE raise) after meeting my new colleagues. A couple of days later (on a Friday) I was back in the office and met with my manager (who was a complete idiot, did screw any employee if he could make a buck or two on it). I went into his office and close the door behind me, and asked him if he had 5 minutes to spare since I needed to speak to him. He said sure but looked a little puzzled though. I told him that I had good and bad news for him and asked what he wanted to hear first. Of course he wanted the bad news first, so I told him that from this day resigned from my position at the company – he just looked at me without saying anything for about a minute or two (I know from office gossip later on that I gave him a huge shock). When he ‘came to’ again he wanted to hear the good news, I was trying to hide my BIG smile as hard as I possibly could, so I told him that I was offered a job at the main competitor. It was now his ‘save what you can’ mode kicked in and he offered me a significant raise if I decided to stay…. Now I just couldn’t hide my smile anymore and I just had to tell him off, ‘If you wasn’t able to give me a decent pay during the 3 years I have been working like a slave for the company then what makes you think I’d accept a raise and stay?’…. By now he was turning ash-gray in the face just looking at me with an open mouth…. I told him that I was going to print out my letter of notice and give it to him later during the day. This Friday continued as the most Fridays normally does and the clock hit 4:30 and I went home to spend the weekend at the DZ. When I returned to the office at the next Monday my manager practically met me in the door, he told me that the company lawyers have decided that I was relieved of working from now on until I joined the other company and I would receive full pay during this period. That turned out to be the best summer in my life (so far) when I was paid to skydive (so to speake). The vidiot's that I know of who have any special technique for the neck during deployment all are using the same way. They throw out the PC and then put their hands under the chin to prevent the down forward momentum of the head in case of a slammer. No one I have spoken to are bending the head forward and putting the chin toward the chest. I have NO idea of what way is to prefer though... Myself don't do anything but a normal deployment even when I know that my Lotus will bitchslap me every now and then...
