" And if worse comes to worse, you can always remove the box entirely and mount whatever you want on the flat side surface" ------------- Good idea, i suppose with the box off it would look like the helmet in the picture (attached). This helmet was called the side FX but i dont think 2k make it anymore! Cant wait to get mine, hope its before Christmas. Blues "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist

Hi y'all I know the 2K FF2 helmet fits most Sony PC+HC cameras, but just wondered why a specific model number is required when ordering one? Is it so the 'L' bracket fits the camera perfect or is there more to it than that. Also if at a later time i want to change camera, is there many problems? Sorry if this question has already been discussed. Blues, Andy "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist

Stall point/brake line length
andyflylife replied to flyngsquirrl's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Quote I just lengthened my lowers so I can get on my front risers without deflecting the tail, and I absolutely love the way it flies now. --------------------------- Ive just done exactly the same to my Sabre 135 for the same reason. I had the shrunk lines lengthened (at the bottom) to bring it back to PD factory settings. A whole 6 inches different!! The canopy flies and turns with front risers great but i find that on nil wind days unless i 'performance land' it i have a job shutting it down to a stop! I was considering taking an inch back out but then someone suggested that in another 80-100 jumps the shrinkage would compensate for it! I might just.. Hook it and see "swooper 24/7, 365!" Many...many thanks for the advice. I think ive decided on this camera, i'm just shopping around for the best deal now. Blue skies, Andy

Considering buying the Hc42 as my first camera after much browsing!! Just wondered if anyone knows.. Can you just watch your footage on tv without connecting to the docking station?(ie AV socket on camera?) And also, does it have the all important Lanc socket? Please help Blues, Andy "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist

Grand theft auto 'Liberty City Stories' (??)
andyflylife replied to andyflylife's topic in The Bonfire
Hi y'all just wondered if anybody has heard or seen anything of the new GTA game? I'm waiting to see if BASE jumping is making an appearance on it because im running out of stuff to jump on 'San Andreas'. Hope so Blues "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist -
I got GTA just last month while off jumping recovering from surgery, and i'm a total addict to it!! I must have only done about 10 missions as all my time is spent lobbing off things. Does everyone no about the Jetpack cheat?? the definite quickest way of getting to exit points Also, im not a computer buff by at all, so how the heck do you produce videos of your gameplay action? Or is it only on Xbox? virtual..blue skies "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist

Nice to see some footage of people learning similar skills to me!! Just wondered what your previous swoop learning curve had comprised of. How many (if any) straight in approaches using front risers did you do before starting to add a turn? im currently doing straight ins with fronts but have being experimenting up high with altitude loss on 90's and 180s. blue skies "swooper 24/7, 365!" Camera choice, advantages of buying Sony??
andyflylife replied to andyflylife's topic in Photography and Video
I'd love to work in the sport through camera flying. My intention is to learn right from my first camera jump to 'fly the camera'. Will probably practice outside video on freefly/other fun jumps. (thanks for all the feedback!) "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist -

Camera choice, advantages of buying Sony??
andyflylife replied to andyflylife's topic in Photography and Video
Sorry if this topic has been raised before but i couldn't find it in a search. I am looking to purchase a vid camera (pc style) for my first camera helmet. There seems to be a huge range of equipment available from £200 upwards, and although Sonys are much cheaper to buy than they used to be i'm just interested what the advantages are over buying other brands. (eg JVC,Panasonic....etc) Most camera flying seems to done using Sony. Is it just a 'brand thing' or are they the best one for the job. Opinions and advice are much appreciated. When is it OK to start learning to swoop?
andyflylife replied to Tonto's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
People who are serious about learning to swoop need to put freefall on the back burner and dedicate jumps to canopy control. I definitely agree. Talking as a relative newbie to even canopy piloting let alone swooping, i probably do more hop and pops from 5k now than i do freefall jumps. Everything about the canopy ride i love. Accessing the weather conditions, the spot, the exit, the flight plan/alternative plan the setup etc... The extra canopy time and clearer skies to learn in are a must in developing canopy handling skills. Just for the record i'm learning double fronts, straight in!! You can kill yourself doing many things in this sport, when done correctly, a high performance approach is an acceptable risk and is quite enjoyable.

My ex AFF instructor sold his trusty stiletto last year to dude on our DZ. Before doing that he sent it back to PD who gave it a full test and new line set. (its fifth set) The canopy was given a clean bill of health and is still in use....not bad considering it now has about 5000 jumps on it!!!! The instructor who it belonged to is very meticulous with kit and it obviously shows. Blue ones "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist

Front and rear riser question
andyflylife replied to lindell's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I used to jump a Falcon 195 loaded at 0.9 and now jump a Sabre 150 loaded at 1.1. The risers get easier to use with more load but it also has much to do with technique. For using fronts i find the easiest way is to fly in deep brakes, let the canopy slow right down then go to full drive and quickly grab the risers/dive loops, you have a few seconds whilst the speed builds of easy riser pressure. Also for turning i find that lifting your leg in the harness on the side you want to turn allows for some extra movement and input. My rear risers do seem harder to use on the sabre than they did on my Falcon for some reason, but the sabre seems to get back from deep spots better on brakes anyway which is cool! Hope this helps. Practice high up, stay safe and have fun dude! Blue skies "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist -
BPA canopy progression system unveiled.
andyflylife replied to yoink's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I think that CP1 does mean that.. in theory. But i think its down to the CCI to inforse it using judgment. If your being sensible and not overstretching your capabilities, low experience level and safety margin i would say you will probably be ok. If someone of a similar jump number is trying to swoop, diving in head first and scaring everyone on the dropzone to death with his/her lack of skill then i think the CP1 enforcement will come into play. In theory anyone swooping now, however good they are should require CP1 but again, common sense and discretion is forced to be used. After all, these new guidelines are being introduced to try and stop people who haven't got the skill, having a go and killing themselves. Hope i made sense! "swooper 24/7, 365!" UK Question - staying current?
andyflylife replied to darrenspooner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Dave H (CCI at Langar) is ok really. Just catch him when he's not to harrassed! (At the bar!!!) Langar are fairly cool with that kind of layoff if you mention it anyway. DH is at the AGM this weekend anyway....aswell as me!! I think 'darrenspooner' is right about the good weather forecast though, 5mph winds and sunshine. But as its my first time at the AGM...i aint missing it!! Blue skies.....and cold beer "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist -

Ground launching canopy
andyflylife replied to Basejumperjeff's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Well i made my first few attempts! I'd been waiting for nice steady winds 5-10mph, but i ended up with absolutely no wind at all! I thought it would be ok though so gave it a try. I got the canopy flying with front risers initially whilst setting off running down the slope, but whatever i tried i couldn't get the lift to launch with either rears or brakes! It felt so close to launching but didn't quite do it!! Do you think the wing loading/ lack of wind was the main problem?? Remember my canopy is loaded at only 0.9. I only made 3 attempts as it was going dark but each try was more controlled and i got a feeling for launching! ..... Luvin' it! "swooper 24/7, 365!" ME on Myspace My Project playlist -
Ground launching canopy
andyflylife replied to Basejumperjeff's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Thanks for the advice. i'm intending to fly directly into steady wind if possible. Hopefully the trees shouldnt cause to much of a problem as there only 10-12 ft max. Ive just got to wait for good conditions now, and so the park isnt to full of people as i dont want lots of spectators on my first launch!! Blue skies "swooper 24/7, 365!"
