I agree that it's good for you. Just not everyone. I see a lot of gear bags, and they are not all pretty! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
GG, On your used gear page, is that tallguy modelling that container? It looks like him from the back. Yes, it's TallGuy. And he is not modeling it. I snapped a shot after he landed. That's his rig. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I did it too. Sold everything, bought a van and printed some T-shirts.... ....learned to pack.... got my AFF rating.... sold some gear.... ....yadda, yadda, yadda. Oh yeah. Sushi all summer. Ramen all winter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I would just add the Solo by Aerodyne to that list. But good advise. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Ever get your thumb stuck in your plastic handle Sid? I know I'm a dork, but I did on my old rig. After that I switched to a hackey. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

So that means all he has to do is wait for you to downsize, and pick up your used gear. It's impossible to give accurate gear advise without any skydiving history. So I'll concur. Go make a skydive. If you like it, do another. Student gear is included in your program. Once you have done your student jumps, you and your instructors will have a better idea of what you need. One of the biggest factors in determining gear choices would be your adaptation to human flight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I might have to disagree with you here John. The average jumpers gear bag may not be an appropriate place to store those spare parts. Cables get kinked, bent, dirty... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
How much should I expect to pay for rig assembly/reserve pack?
GravityGirl replied to grue's topic in Gear and Rigging
At our DZ it's $100. That covers inspection of all components, assembly and pack of the main and reserve. This is with a cypres. $15 bucks less without. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
Perhaps in the future you could "check in" with the drop zone you took off from. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

They are both great rigs. I jump a G4 and my husband a G3. We both think ours is the best! Go to the Mirage web site and check out the features of each. Then ask yourself if they are features you want. If you have any specific questions about those features, feel free to PM me here, or contact your local gear dealer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

You're right Sid. I don't know anyone who fancies chocolate covered corn cobs, but another visual comes to mind now. Eddy. This one time at band camp, I took some grapes..... As far as landing in grapes (stakes), Eddy will know better. They have a better variety in Lodi. But what works for me is with the rows. Plane out feet level to the top of the grapes and stakes, then drop in. Now in Byron, when you land out, watch out for the little brown discs. Oh and then there are winds mills. But you would have to have a REALLY bad spot for those. Otherwise, it's mostly cow shit and pot holes that we worry about. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

What size gear do you jump? I have demo gear in the Pro Shop at Byron. If you want it for the full day, it's $60.00. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I can't say. But my nephew returned from Iraq with similar injuries. Collapsed Lung, Shut down internal organs, etc. Nasty. In any case, we were able to get him in the air for a tandem a few short months later. He plans on taking AFF with me when he returns from his next mission in a year or so. So ask your doctor. If he doesn't know, ask him to do a little research. There is also static line progression that will start you off at lower altitudes. Good luck. Welcome back! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! What if you get a corn cob up your a$$? I'm surely not an athority here. Not much corn in our area. Ask me about grapes though! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I really want to see the how the footage turns out from the 1000. Keep us posted. I have yet to see a good 3-chip hold up to freefall without blurring. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Can you add a field next to rating that includes how many instructor jumps you have? Ex: AFF: Instructor 1,000 Tandem: Instructo 2,000 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Cons: The battery is small and internal. You can't get a bigger one for it. The case is not very rugged. No external button, just on screen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Oakland airport is about an hour away. Just a thought. That's closer than Sacramento? Or you think it would be even cheaper? Blues, Dave Oakland is closer. And it is a Southwest hub. So it should be cheap too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
-
Hmmm....Southwest is at $69 each way (Spokane-Sacramento), AND I already have that Friday scheduled off. Blues, Dave It's okay. Sac-a-potatoe is only 1.5 hours away. I know all too well, I used to commute out of there every week. Iwan, I just told Mathias you wanted to be on top of me, and he didn't flinch. Damn Swedes are hard to make jealous! Oakland airport is about an hour away. Just a thought. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I got a preshipment notice for it yesterday. It is likely on it's way to us. Are you going to Rantoul? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Well, now you just told everyone on a public forum. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
