I got 900 jumps on my F-111 pilot chute, which was maybe 100 too many. If I had lengthed the kill line, which had shrunk until the pilot chute couldn't quite be fully cocked, maybe it would have worked a bit longer, but it was getting pretty porous. I figured it was time, anyway, to replace it, the d-bag, and the lines. I replaced it with an identical Javelin F-111 pilot chute, since I liked the way it almost never had more than 1-2 twists to be unwound when packing. The replacement one is not quite so good in that regard!

Maybe that video will make it onto the DVD, if it ever gets done. Thanks for the photos.

Check out the Boeri Axis Performance and Myto Switch ski helmets. Pretty colors (but I haven't seen purple). Mine's a shimmery mid-blue. I made a few skydives with it.

The original 1892 wording was "...to my Flag, and the Republic for which it stands..." The "the Flag of the United States of America" change was later, in the 1920's.

Hi Jeff, You might see if there is someone at Lodi jumping a Sabre2 170. If so, maybe they would let you make a few jumps on it, to see some of the changes in store. I expect that the size difference down to 150 will make quite a difference to you, as it puts you in the wing loading PD suggests for experts. I'd try to pick a day with nice winds for those first demo jumps. Gary

No, but I've needed to open a brew under canopy.

Everyone reads the news, relatively few vote.

By "pulling the slider out" do you mean in front of the nose? Check out the Lotus/Samurai owners manual, http://www.bigairsportz.com/basoman.pdf, page 14, where Brian Germain says that this "opens the channel of air to the bottom surface, typically allowing the parachute to open sooner."

The one in the auction doesn't seem to have had the 8 year check, but someone was willing to put a recent battery in it. So, if you get the 8 year check, add the cost of that. Also, they replaced my non-expired battery when it went in for the check. All in all a really bad deal. My Cypress is about the same vintage, maybe I'll sell it to the 2nd-highest bidder!

Here I am in San Jose, CA. I graduated in 1976, and was on the first load to jump onto the Tech campus. I don't know how many of my classmates are still jumping, but I know Gary Schaffer in your area still does. Bob Steffel doesn't, Lissa Shoun doesn't, not sure about Mike Littleton, Alan Saylor, Knox Worde, Hill Powell, Alan Murray, Doug Van Zant. Glad to see your competition team doing so well these days. I have a t-shirt to match, but it'll never fit you.

Press Release: The New Lotus MAX is done!
headoverheels replied to BrianSGermain's topic in Gear and Rigging
Hi Brian, Are those revised trims going to be in the on-line user manual soon, or maybe in the lineset assembly directions? Do you have any specification for allowed tolerance of trim as the lines shrink? For example, how much shorter can the outer cell lines be, relative to the inners, as time goes on? -
Yep, just like the floor mounted crappers in Asia. That mouth might be a little wide to squat over, though.

Swing down to do some tunnel time in Perris. SWA into Onterio airport.

That round 1 is gonna be difficult to complete, with only 20 jumpers! edit to add: and so is round 4.

Bought Rig From Ebay. Rip Off!?!? Robin Lau, NY
headoverheels replied to Dave1216's topic in The Bonfire
Were you going to have it shipped to somewhere in the US? I see in the ad that the seller would ship to US only. Not that that's any reason for ripping you off! -
Way to go Homer! Ummm....beer. The cause of, and solution to, all mankind's problems.

Have your relatives come to see you skydive?
headoverheels replied to Vertifly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had an aunt and uncle come see me jump 31 years ago. Since then, nobody (don't count a jumper ex-wife). -
For some hints on collapsing canopies in wind, look at Brain Germain's user manual http://www.bigairsportz.com/basoman.pdf on page ~34, "Airlocks after Landing." I haven't had a chance to try these techniques, but they should work for non-airlocked canopies as well.

Hell, I've landed in two trees in Georgia. Fell through one, suspended at under 5 feet in the other.
