More of Sabre opening problems. It's no secret
jejejelle replied to TomSpoon's topic in Gear and Rigging
this guy makes me afraid to reline my sabre170 the opening are pretty good on mine.. except for the constant 180ies -
but how about deploying your main in a spinning mal on the reserve? he dropped the hook knife? did he survive?
-
look at your cheststrap and be happy if you see a big hook knife somewhere... cut the risers and deploy your main should be possible imo

Sabres have opening problems. It's no secret
jejejelle replied to TomSpoon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i love my sabre... opening in 400 ft... had one slammer , but might have been because of packjob... slider not fully exposed maybe im just lucky... but even the slammer was not that hard -
well , i figured diving out to be the fastest way to get out , and miss the tail. But i wasnt sure about opening that way
-
waaoohhh that is scary stuff , those guys were lucky
-
Oh my goodness, does sound like scary fun. would that be possible out the door of an cessna grand caravan?? not sure about the tail
-
static line students diving out backwards?? I did S/L progression and we sat in the door, never thought of diving out with S/L , maybe something to try also this weekend
-
will try this weekend

inspired by skyange1`s cypres save thread i`m thinking about the following.. is it possible to dive out and after clearing the stabilo yank the PC and open your chute ?? i`m really not sure :) I keep visualizing myself flipping over my canopy and/or getting entangled with the canopy or PC because of the relative wind coming from behind any thoughts about this?
-
what a beauty!.. wow =]

it`s a vector 1 or 2 not really sure range 170 and above and maybe you`re right about saving for a smaller rig , it`s only the rig i need of course. I`ll talk to my rigger , need a repack soon so i will be around :) maybe he has a nice fitting rig for less, or maybe he`s is absolutely sure that "padding up" is not adding extra risks thanks a lot for your answers
-
should i say chute to small... anyway. im jumping a sabre 170 right now , which is almost too small for my rig , nice packing :) however , is it possible to switch to an 150 ft2 canopy ? it will kind of float in my rig and that is not a good thing. so is it possible to fill up my rig with some sort of material so it will not float ?
-
i have an idea.... you need: a good rigger a big hook knife some luck load of cash just jump.. but go for silver everytime... you`ll need te hook knife to cut away and pull the "reserve" not an good idea? :P or try : after every jump cool your shoulder for at least 10 minutes with ice. might help reduce/keep away the pain.

:) some guys from my DZ , need a lot more practice before i can even imagine me doing this :P

laws about off-dropzone jumps?
jejejelle replied to shawnstarr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
can i come too to find out what will happen ? -
You know, when the staff puts out the 400 jump limit, I dont jump unless I feel very stupid (yes, that happens on occasion ). If its very windy there's plenty enough to do around Empuria... That said, any drop zone can get bitchy winds. Whenever your on a coast, you get nice views, but the tradeoff is usually more winds. Same in florida. true .. when there is a 400 JL its almost suicidal to go up. and again im not bashing the DZ just the wind that was there last august. without wind its paradise :)
-
well jumping was the problem.... too much wind... or maybe i should say to high jump limit... mostly between 200 and 400 no nice weather this weekend im afraid. :( dazzle: that was exactly what happened... maybe i sound a little dramatic about it. i really had a great time there and made some jumps but hoped for more
-
heej :) nice suit well i just expected more... i saved money for at least 6 months.... wanted to jump my ass off... improve my freeflying... jump wise it really sucked bigger then i could have ever dreamed off... just walking around there enjoying the sun and all the things around was nice... but i really really really went there to jump..
-
been there last summer... first two weeks of august.. did not really like it... mainly because of the wind and only having 100 jumps then. drove 1900 km to hang around for a week and only make 9 or 10 jumps... luckily me and my buddies were smart enough to get out of that place and get our asses to france ( soulac ) were we stayed 2 days and make more jumps then in a week at empuria. they wont be seeing me there as long as i don`t have at least 400 jumps.... not bashing the DZ just telling my experiences empuria isn't very nice if you do not have more than 400 jumps.... but damn i love the planes they have :)

I was one of the six :) very interesting outlanding indeed.. but the jump was great
