  1. Paul. Give it up. They just don't get the BIG picture. And the FED is printing money as fast as they can right now. W/ not a fucking thing to back it. Not really. What backs it up is our peoductivity. Of course you have to be able to take inthe whole picture to see the outcome. The downside risk is close to a trillion but it's like stock, you don't lose money until you sell. Remember that the assets the trust would buy are not worthless, just unknown. They may sell at 10 cents on the dollar or 110 cents on the dollar. We won't see a dime if they make money, if you want to make a noise make it for giving the process visibility so the government doesn't squeeze and squander. One thing is for sure, if they don't get it fixed a trillion dollars will seem like beer money. Our economy is about 16 trillion a year. 90% of that goes away if there is a credit shutdown. Shut down the credit the world dominos fall. I don't know where this will end up but I'm in the tank for the governments (cause there are more than ours involved in this) and I pray they get it right. I worry that the congress will try to make political capital and if they do next week will make this week look good. That's "productivity" and yes, BUT, if there are no jobs for the average JOE this country is FUCKED. I see a seperation of classes coming faster than anyone could imagine. The slaves and the slave masters. There is going be a class WAR soon and it not going to be pretty. I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.

  15. Delving back into history, and knowing you're German - Any members of your family serve in the Nazi Party? How do you feel about the slaughter of millions of Jews? The confiscation of their wealth? Oh, and our military preserved our right to speak English, not German or Japanese. Hey. Let's chat about Prescott Bush for awhile. http://www.tarpley.net/bush2.htm I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  16. Don't put words in my mouth, professor. No, no, same words; yours. You think union contracts are gross, but CEO contracts are justified if contracts are followed. Unions = collective bargaining contracts, meaning they all bargain at the same time vs a CEO bargaining 1 at a time. Incorrect. Try re-reading what I said WITHOUT looking for any hidden meanings. Since he was able to find work in the same area at $4/hour, then obviously the union wage of $19/hour was grossly out of line. Evidently he had a pretty decent unemployment (golden parachute) package, if he didn't have to work for a year. If you don't want guaranteed bonuses for CEO's, then lobby to make bonuses tied to performance - I honestly expect to see more of that in the future. To clear the record. I was not in the union til 6 yrs. ago. And the ecomomy was so bad, that I was, as a traveling const. worker, allowed to claim unemployent benefits from 3 states. I got 26 weeks of regular and 26 weeks extended as work dried up everwhere. A WHOPPING $125 a week. Right before we were supposed to start a bunch of shale oil projects in Co. til Ronnie and his boys pulled the plugs. As dicussed here before. Edit to add: They are giving extended benefits AGAIN under this admin. What's that say? And you don't get shit from the union if you're not working. I will lose my insurance Dec.31st if work doesn't pick up and it's not looking good. Can you say Morgan Stanley next. I guess i need to learn to speak Chinese and/ or Arabic. Or Spanish I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.

  24. Just ironically most of the bad stuff happens under your boys. Cry me a river...the dot.com bubble was the best smoke/mirror play yet... These events with banking are simply the wrong play with money they thought wouldn't stop flowing. Frankly, how these guys didn't prepare is astonishing. Shoe me the indicators of the Dot.com bubble burst. How did it affect otehr apects of teh economy, the DJI, the unemp rate, all aspects; what was the harm in indicator numbers? Also, how was Clinton supposed to regulated it? We kno Bush should have directed the Chairman of the Reserve to not keep rates so low so long, buthe didn't want to preside over a recession, so now Obama get sto inherit one. The President has no power over the Fed. In case you haven't noticed, following a measured reduction in the prime rate following 9/11, the Fed raised the rate, every meeting, from June 2003 through June 2006 where it remained steady until September 2007. The Fed has noted numerous times that one of their primary concerns is inflation. With the lower rates following 9/11, the inflation went up, but so did economic growth. Personally, I think the Fed screwed up by raising rates at every meeting, 425 basis points within three years, only to have to reverse course within a year following, down by 325 since September 2007. Now, they can't reduce rates any further because of inflation and the weak dollar, and if they raise rates, they'll push things uphill just enough to slow things down, while strengthening the dollar, but stalling growth. The dot.com bubble occurred with the Fed raising rates the keeping them elevated through 2000. The "virtual" money evaporated, and all those 25 year old CEOs and their dot.com left the entire tech sector, telecom, et al, reeling...take your pick..NORTEL peaked at 603/sh in Sep 2000. Alcatel/Lucent same pattern...Cisco... "The president has no power over the fed" What fucking world do you live in? I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  25. LOL. That's why I took all my money outta WAMU yesterday and advised all my fiends to do the same. Yeah. Life is good. Nothing like a good run on a bank. I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
