Yeah, it seems like everyone I've talked to about there Michigan suit lately has been unhappy with the way it fit. I'd say it was a measureing issue, but everyone's seems to fit badly in different areas. And from those I have talked to, the service after the sale wasn't exactly up to my standards. Ganja

Gee, are they going to start asking for piggy back rides to the top of the tower too? Or maybe they'll opnly want you to take them to a tower with an elevator... If I can climb my fat ass up an object, any of those whiners can do it. I might be slow, and hold the group up a little, but I can get there. Ganja

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to bring liqour into this thread... lol Ganja

I am fixing to be forced to buy a new RW jumpsuit or two as my current ones are completely worn out. I was interested in hearing from some of the larger jumpers about who's jumpsuit they are using, and what they like or dislike about it. I am wanting something with a ton of extra drag to slow my fall rate down. Any thoughts from the big boys out there? Ganja

Why don't you just give me a shout and we can meet at an object and I can show you what to do? That A I told you about before would be the perfect spot. Ganja

I'm not very good with the metric system, but the opening sounds high. Is that a normal opening height for this object, or would getting a longer track moved him further from the face? Being a newer base jumper myself, I have not had the opportunity for any higher jumps yet. I am wondering myself, how long of a delay my brain would allow me take on a 1000'+ object. I'm used to the 200-300 range personally. I'd imagine taking a long delay from a tall object has to be a total mind game... My condolences to the family and friends. Ganja

I may be wrong, but I don't think that you'll get flamed over that one, it's a pretty popular question. Bridge Day is an excellent place to get your first taste of base. The problem I see, is that if you go up there and get "hooked", You'll be way under the jump requirements for anyone's base course... Ganja

Leroy, Lets keep in mind that these forums are open, and anyone, including "the man" could be reading any of this... Ganja

So 27% of the people that attempt die? Or 27% of the people that succeed die? Ganja

No thanks, I'll just be in the canyon. Not sure I want to become a part of the canyon... Ganja "What's my number" Rodriguez

So you'd reccomend a mesh slider for taking a base canopy skydiving then? I guess I;d have thought the openings to brisk to justify it... Ganja "Learning more everday" Rodriguez

Well, the only reason I have is that I have never had the opportunty to take it terminal off of an object. I guess the thought of treminal is terminal never crossed my mind, but why would you want to get slammed when you could always just opt to add a sail slider and slow it down a bit? Ganja

Sneaking around in the middle of the night climbing ladders, staris, and rocks sure seems like alot of work to me... Granted the rewards is worth it, but IU think BASE is hard work for sure. Those who have seen me know why it's that much harder for me... lol Ganja

I jumped my FLiK with vents and covers and a mesh slider packed into a huge skydiving rig. I jumped it like that out of a 172, and a King Air. No worries, it'll be fine. Personally, I wouldn't do much more than a hop-n-pop like that though. Ganja "BASE Pending" Rodriguez

Dude, I don't know you, nor will I most likely ever get the opportunity to meet you with an attitude like this. Do your family a favor and pre-arrange your funeral. Base jumping is not about what you seem to think it is about. I don't know a single base jumper that would just suck it down at the dz to get the thrill of ground rush. That is unsafe and just plain stupid. All of the base jumpers I know that still skydive are the safest skydivers I know. Get some more skydives under your belt, then hock everything you own to go to an FJC. I remember being a 100 jump wonder too. I used to think I was 10 feet tall and bulletproof. You know what, I was wrong, and You are too. You are at the very most dangerous point in your skydiving career right now. You think you know it all, but if you'd listen to those around you, you'd realize your journey has just begun. If those who know you thought you were ready for base jumping, they'd be willing to take you by now. I do know you, so I can only go by what is being said and by what I know about people in your jump range in general. I'd strongly reccomend holding off on base until you know more about the sport of skydiving. BASE is mental, it is not about being cool and running around telling all your buddies. It is much more of a self thing. In many ways, to be the coolest base jumper on earth would be for noone to know you even existed.... Ganja "Off my soapbox" Rodriguez

I totally understand what you mean about setting an example. Personally, I viewed it as great entertainment since the rest of us couldn't jump. It was great that he was able to get to do that, and the down time was pefect for it. I never even touched the water, I assume it had to be pretty friggin cold? Ganja

I now have a better understanding of what you meant. I guess part of what made people more comfortable Sunday is that they started jumping and then the winds got worse. Either we were more comfortable with the winds due to being more current with them, or we just ignored the fact that they were getting worse. I'm not sure where the data is measured at, but I'd assume that that data comes from the pole right at the bridge/visitors center? I wasn't wearing a watch, but there was one time Sunday afternoon that I walked out ther with gear on, and stood down. It was about the same time they put Russell off and into the water (which was awsome I might add). We walked down, and waited for a couple of hours for the winds to slow a bit... Ganja

Tom, I don't think the winds were wuite as bad on Sunday as they were on Saturday. They were marginal for sure, but I don't think Saturday was even remotely marginal. On Saturday, I climbed that rock formation right there in the park, and it was about blowing us over. In my opinion, which is worth nothing, Sunday was a much better day. I'm not saying it was a good day by any strecth, but it was better for sure. Ganja

My mentors were very much in agreement with Tom and Johnny on this issue. I believe BaseRigger's exact words were "Don't let anybody talk you into anything stupid like trying your first gainer out there. 486 is too low for that." Ganja -
You did a double gainer off of that B? You must be kidding? Ganja

Look at the top of this page and use the link that says "Getting into BASE"... There is no safe way, only ways that seem more sane.... Ganja

But he's not Why you hatin? Sorry, should have read IS NOT... I'm just surprised this thread was left alone. Didn't mean to be "hatin". Ganja "Can't we all just get along" Rodriguez

We're not too far apart, PM me... On another note, I'm surprised Tom is jumping up and down screaming about some of your "Not very useful to anyone else" posts... Ganja
