  2. Parachute Systems is not known for their customer service. They make good gear but their service is pathetic. Try and contact Manny at manny@icarus.co.za. 8. Can anybody please tell me what the team requirments are for intermediate, senior and open 4 way teams e.g max. number of jumps done per competitor or team member Blue skies " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  9. I have four of them. The free-fly suit is an old very baggy design. The comp RW suit and camera suit works just fine. My oldest suit is now 9 years old and the only thing I had to replace was a busted zipper on the bootie. The spandex on the back now needs a replacement and then I will probably jump it for another 9 years. I olso had one or two of the "pop" studs on the closure tag on the booties that came undone. But at less than $100 I do not mind paying the $1 replacement cost. Their service is also very good. 13. Just out of interest. How do you pack your Hurricane. I had a few off-heading openings and would like to correct it if possible. Cheers Tallies " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  14. I could not agree more. Thanks Ian I think it is a great description of the canopies. And Chute Shop service really sucks big time. Cheers " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  15. I can only concur with what Fergie and Dave had already said. Join us here in Dubai over Eid for a great mini-boogie. Pete Marsden will be bringing his group over from Europe and we will be skydiving every day from the 20th to the 28th of FEB. Hope to see you soon. 16. Hi SkydiveMonkey is right. The Hurricane is 9 cell full elliptical high performance canopy from Chute Shop in SA. The first Hurricane came out in 2001 whilst the Heatwave has been around for a few years more. There are many people who say that the Heatwave and the Hurricane are like the Stilletto and more people will tell you that the Hornet is like a Sabre 2. This could not be further from the truth. All these canopies are wings in their own right with very different behavioral characteristics. I have jumped the Heatwave before I have changed over to the Hurricane. One reason was that the Hurricane was simply a newer design. The Heatwave will have the same tendancy as the Stilletto to spin up if you are not square in the harness. The Hurricane seems to be less prone to this. I had a few line twist openings, one brake fire and so far they have manage to clear themselves with no problem. Out of all three the canopies the Hurricane in my opinion has a superior bottom-end flare and will stay in the dive longer. The Heatwave is very sensitive with a tendency to oversteer. The Hurricane is more precise. Price of the Hurricane is a little more expensive and both canopies are made from the same ZP material, that is the South African ZP material. You will have to wait for your Heatwave for 4 weeks whilst the the Hurricane will take 12 weeks to get to your door. Contact manny@icarus.co.za for a good deal. I hope this helps. 17. Hi Chris Check out Manny at Icarus. I believe that he has a brand new Teardrop, with hornet and tempo reserve for +/- $2000 US www.icarus.co.za check under used gear. Cheers Tallies " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  18. I have a Hurricane 135 loaded at 1.54. I absolutely love the canopy. Good dive, fast turns and very responsive. I have had a few line twist due to my own packing and I never had to chop it, the twists just cleared itself. I jump camera and on a Full elliptical that could be a problem, but mine opens great and fly even better. The only problem is that with the current exchange rate you will pay about $800 for the canopy and the waiting period is 12 weeks. Contact Manny at manny@icarus.co.za, tell him Tallies send you and he will organize you a good deal. Cheers Tallies " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  19. Who said that skydiving is not an an-aerobic sport? Has anybody ever consciously checked if they are breathing while in freefall? I've been trying to remember to check for 15 years now and every time I land it is "Damm, I forgot to check again" Cheers " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  20. But then you could have sunk in faster and clearing that Cessna at 20 ft or a low turn could have had a not so happy ending. Always nice to speculate in retrospect. I think it is the 20/20 hindsight. Anyway, glad you are OK. Cheers " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  21. Aren't you glad that you were not under that 150 you wre looking at to buy. Cheers " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  22. Looking forward to the Boogie. Pete Marsden from the UK is having his boogie here in FEB so keep yourself ready for a week of skydiving. Cheers Tallies " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  23. Hi Dave Get Fergie to make one for you, I think I have one lying around somewhere. The Caravan should be ready by next weekend. Cheers Tallies " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  24. We have an Illusion 76 sitting at our DZ. It will be turned into a Bar and a bunkhouse soon. How cool is that. We thought of turning it into a mock-up but the list of injuries would be too high. The door is 3 meters above the ground Cheers " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
  25. I dito that. I think that the "brother and sister hood" extends far beyond the borders of the US. To make assumptions is mother of all ^%$^ - ups. I live in the Middle East. Only one DZ in UAE but we will keep an eye open for the gear. Cheers " You have never lived until you've almost died, and for those who has experienced it, life has a flavour the protected would never understand"
