  1. I've gained much more than I gave up. I don't really consider it as having 'gave up' anything though. I'm just living my life how I want to and jumping figures prominently in my life. Scars remind us that the past is real

    Mac or PC

because it gets expensive to upgrade everyones software dept wide every 6 months when someone new comes on board with a newer version. and to add a bit more - I think it is a cross platform problem - older versions on PCs have no problem. it's weird. you loose the formatting etc that is available in the newer version but it still comes through intelligible. Going to his mac looks like it was sent through a klingon translator. we both have the same versions of Canvas and i can read his files, but when I send him something, every object is grouped in one corner. again weird crap. Mac or PC

we tried it, but then I'd lose information (eg formatting and such) that was only available in the newer version. Needless to say - dealing cross platform is a pain in the ass. It'd be easier if everyone used the same platform but as you can see from this thread alone there are some pretty entrenched people on either side of the aisle. Scars remind us that the past is real
  5. No its not. It's a very precise term. A Yankee is someone from the northeast that may on occasion visit the south. A DAMNyankee is one that visits the south and stays. Jump Scars remind us that the past is real

    Mac or PC

whoa....only if you're using the most up to date versions of both. I have to deal with this crap on a regular basis. My boss is running a mac and I have a pc - we have to swap excel, word and powerpoint files all the time. I can read his no problem (I have the most recent office upgrage). Any time I send him a file - it's screwed beyond recognition. Same thing with Illustrator and Canvas - I can read from his, he can't read from mine. This isn't isolated to just our computer pair either - it's dept wide. Jump Scars remind us that the past is real

    Mac or PC

I've used both and I prefer the PC by far. I run graphics editing software (photoshop, illustrator, canvas, correl), word processing and number crunching (mostly my own programs). Macs are good, but I could never get over the feeling that it was underpowered - kinda like driving a Yugo in the Alps - yea, it'll do it, but wouldn't you want something that doesn't strain? And actually I've had extremely good luck with Dell. Great customer service. I got the extended warranty and haven't had to use it yet (going on two years with my current system that still has plenty of get up and go). Scars remind us that the past is real
  12. I meant to ask you this the other day, but I just now remembered... What is the purpose of melting salt, and what happens to it when it is melted? Does it become a liquid or a gas? It turns to a liquid. I do it to calibrate my thermocouples. Salt melts at 801 C. So I stick my thermocouple in a bucket of salt and watch the temp go up. When it levels off, I know I'm at the melting point of salt! And once its all melted the temp goes up again. I love thermodynamics Scars remind us that the past is real

  14. Source: White House Press Release This is the two year olds argument - "they don't have to stand in the corner why should I?" Whats wrong with standing up and taking the lead on something that would beneficially affect everyone equally? So we don't sign and watch with the other kids as other nations take a leading role in solving the worlds problems. Scars remind us that the past is real
