Take a look around you. Maths and PHD's (in real subjects) provide you with far more than prayer or imaginating ever has. Imaginating.

No. In fact if you have twists and your canopy is not behaving well, one technique that works well for getting your canopy under control is to twist your risers the opposite direction until you can reach above the twists and then you level out your canopy on rears (or, say, point your canopy away from the object if you're on a BASE jump.) Once you have control of the canopy you can deal with the twists or, if you're really eating a shit sandwich, just land it like that. The only thing that's a bit sketchy in this case is he's still holding his handles while reaching up into his reserve to fix it... Not sure if that's a good idea...

The saying "Don't talk to the police" goes double when one just ran a stop sign, put you into a tree, and broke your neck. As far as what should happen, how about just a good old fashioned firing? So long "treated and released" injury and disability pay. So long pension. I know I'm really aiming for the stars, but however we get there from here, we need to restore the ability to fire police who do things like this. It may be exceptional and it may be more commonplace than sees the light of day, but I don't see why that would change my opinion.

...remarkably similar to magnets, actually.

Ok, anybody who can decide God doesn't exist should have no trouble making a hobby out of not collecting stamps. But how does that work without using faith to convince yourself that you are actually doing it? ... I understand what each of those words means individually but you have put them together in a way that I have no idea what you are saying. His point is that he's missing the point. To explain by way of answering his question... You don't use faith to convince yourself you are not collecting stamps as a hobby because "not collecting stamps" isn't actually a hobby.

I think the correlation function of peoples' interest in pi accuracy and peoples' understanding of its involvement in wave functions, transforms, etc. is definitely non-monotonic and only occasionally positive.

People who hold such beliefs also, in my experience, have no good faith interest in coming to an agreement with atheists regarding the possibility that a god may exist. Religious people have a very difficult time conceptualizing a god as distinct from their god(s) so when a religious person says a god it's not what they mean.

Shit is going to get real messy in Ukraine/Russia

Stupid question: If it was a Ukranian cargo plane at that altitude, heading, and location... To where would it have been bringing cargo? -
Some people say ih hih ih hih ih Some people sing hello, hello, hello Some people say blast them back to the stone age Some people cry why, why, why?

Well, if they're good about carrying their flags around that would help quite a bit.

First they didn't get it, then they were stupid, now they're going fuck nuts crazy. Let me ask you this... do you think the promotion of political views and humor (or attempts at humor) are mutually exclusive?

Um . . . the video is explaining why they take offense to the satire. Right, which is why both Regulator's post and the responders of the original satire is stupid. In both cases, they appear to not understand the basic joke. When I watched the video I saw them acknowledge that the "Black NRA" skit was supposed to be a joke, but then explain why they take offense to the underlying assumptions that have to be made in order for the joke to be funny. I suppose it's also possible that they're just stupid and they didn't get it. Yes, PJ media is clearly using these black people.

First ever boogie coming up, pretty nervous.

I've actually never seen it done, but if you're worried you could bring a bicycle U-lock and lock your rig to something at the dropzone. The best security is to be an awesome person and have recognizable gear that people associate with you. -

Rolling stone reaches new level up stupidity.
champu replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
It would be more appropriate if you claimed your list was of the most dangerous bears and then list the five most southern residing bears by latitude. Also... huh? wha? ha? oh forget it... Rolling Stone is not a very good clip. -
...well why don't you guys just spend a little more, and then make our story your story multiplied by ten? Then 10x will be our story.

I generally agree, with the notable exception of the Sigma 15mm f/2.8. I like that lens, and it is pretty good about AF most of the time, but if it gets lost in the weeds for any reason it takes seconds to figure out what's going on. That lens has made me wary of non-USM AF lenses for freefall photography.

Your logic is dizzying me, I'm not quite sure what you are saying. It almost sounds like "If you are an employer, you have to pay for what your employee wants." And you are justifying it by saying the current rules are "The employee still has to spend the his paycheck in a fashion that the employer dictates." Which is kind of the opposite of what I said, and the court ruled. Sorry, I was trying to draw a parallel but it appears it was confusing / mistakable as a direct comment. There are a few things we're talking about here: dollars, health insurance coverage, and medical care / prescription drugs. Dollars and health insurance coverage are two very popular ways to compensate employees for their work. Dollars can buy anything, including medical care and prescription drugs. Health insurance coverage can buy medical care and prescription drugs. Part of the ACA set out to standardize what "health insurance coverage" meant by specifying what, at a minimum, it could buy. It's similar to what the National Banking and Legal Tender Acts did for "dollars" 150 years ago. My point is that "health insurance coverage" is not "medical care" and is actually much more similar to "dollars." As I wrote a while ago, I think it's markedly absurd to insist that some of your offered compensation not be used for a particular expense, and then allow that other compensation may be used for that expense. My addition in my last post was written from the frame of mind that "health insurance coverage" and "dollars" are essentially interchangeable as forms of compensation. (And in fact, if you are a W2 employee you can take a look at Box DD and see just how true that is.)

I agree with this, but would also add, while the money is in your hands, you can't stamp "...except for any debts incurred due to things I find offensive to my religion" below where it reads, "legal tender for all debts public or private" prior to giving it to me. By putting the legal tender phrase on money "the government is mandating you pay for all your employees most religiously offensive acts, when what the money is good for should be between you and your employees."

What did you think about the AF performance of the STM lens while using it for stills on the ground? From what I've read it's supposed to be quieter and smoother for improved video performance, but I take that to mean it sacrifices USM's raw speed for achieving focus on a still composition.

This is what can happen when you contact police. Warrants get issued. Doors get kicked in. Dogs get shot. People get tazed. Charges get trumped up. Cash gets sued. And dicks get pressed against ink pads. If you're not okay with these kinds of things happening over what should never have been a law enforcement issue, don't contact police over what shouldn't be a law enforcement issue.
