  1. I use my oldest pair of sneakers. I do barefeet jumps also. I just hope I land on DZ while barefoot.
  2. WTBD. If you dont login you can lurk as a guest.
  3. To me it is a nonstanding parachute landing that you can hear from a distance. A "biff" is usually associated with a crappy PLF. I do remember it was also a guys name on Back To The Future.
  4. My container and jump suit somewhat match. In my opinion they look cool. My main matches nothing. A Bonehead M/W helmet (like mine) on you noggin, will take away all coolness. It dont matter how groovy your container and and jumpsuit are, do you look cool in you helmet.
  5. I wear a one piece suit from Firefly. I recommend wearing a suit for someone just getting started to help with fall rate. If I jump without my suit I can only slow down in a sit to about 155mph which is to fast when jumping with smaller guys, and most chics. With my suit I usually fall around 145mph, which makes it easier for me to jump with smaller, and lighter jumpers.
  6. I have a stilleto 150, with a larger than stock slider. I dont roll the nose, but roll the tail tight. I have few hard openings. I does open spin to the right about 90 degrees on most openings.
  7. The main purpose of the PLF is to absorb energy, into 5 points of contact. You can practice by jumping off of things as low as one foot high. In my opinion, it is easier to do if you low ground speed. Most of the PLF's see under a ram-air look nothing like the ones I saw (and did) using a round military canopy. In the military we practiced PLF's all the time, especially before each jump. Remember keep your feet and knees together.
  8. Check out www.sportys-catalogs.com. There is all types of pilot stuff there.

    Tux question

In Texas boots are worn with a tux all the time. Just dont wear plain ropers. Wear nice dress boots that might cost alot more than ropers. Also congrats, I hope you have a good wedding.
  10. I have left jobs without notice. I also didnt have to clean out a desk. congrats.
  11. Gillette Sensor Excel for me. It works way better than the Mach 3.
  12. I would recommend supplex. I think it would help when you need to increase your fall rate. I jump Firefly suits and have never been disapointed.
  13. If the weather is good, there is a good chance you will jump. If you plan on getting there at 5ish, there ought to be some after work jumpers. I usually call in the morning to check tandem activitiy. If I have the time i'll get there @ 10a and jump till dark.
  14. If there was a written, and signed agreement I would feel obligated to pay. That is only if I, or someone I hired packed the main that was cut away. If there was no rental or insurance policy, then I consider the repack fee included in the rental price. Lost handles I would pay for. I would not feel obligated to pay for anything, if there were no pre-declared policy on rental cutaways.
  15. I would chop, and follow at least the main to the ground. I would do the same with my equipment, with no worries except my safety.
  16. The DZ I learned at, is further away now. It also only flies C-182's, except for special occasions. I still jump in a cessna, but like the otter better.
  17. I pack about 70% of the time. Paying cuts into jump money, but sometimes it worth it.
  18. Remember what you learned, and try to stay current. Blue Skies.
  19. I guess im bumed, but I won't be there anyway.
  20. BGill keep jumping, and partying. Blue skies.
  21. I usually check my visi when I feel that im nearing break-off altitude. I should check more often. Bad habits.
  22. I would say it was the day I got my "A" licence. Once i get proficient flying head down will be my next most proud day.
  23. In coastal Texas you can stay current all year long, but if I had a few months with no jumping I might get some jitters.
  24. I would not pay a cent. The DZO knows that there is a posibility his equipment could got lost or damaged. The price to me includes insurance, and no one made them rent that equipment. It is done so the DZ can make a buck, and keep alot of people current till they get their oun gear.
