  1. Didn't know that, don't speak Italian. So I learned at least something in this thread full of outdated ideology. Thanks Yup, hence the "S" in "NSDAP". We label them "Nazis" and "Fascists". There's only a handful of them left, and they *still* suck! (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  2. Correct definition! I was not very precise in using "Fascism" as a buzzword, what I meant is "the ideology of the fascist regime of the 3rd Reich." (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  3. I did. I called it "Pure Fascism". Two words, enough for me. I didn't feel like going into a deeper discussion why fascism and "selection" in this manner is bad, because it's obvious. History has proven it. It's an endless discussion that has been going for ages and the people promoting that kind of ideology cannot be converted (in most cases) with arguments about "equality of all people", "human dignity" etc because they just don't acknowledge these concepts in the first place. So I found it sufficient to just protest with a one-liner that says it all. Where did I call him names? Can't see where. As the only noun in my post was "ramp doctor" I suppose you mean that? Well a "ramp doctor" is someone who decided whether people are worth of living & procreating, or if they are a burden to society and therefore not worthy and doomed. That's the exact concept that Treejump promotes. I just wrapped it up. No curse words involved! (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  4. Yes it is, I'm pretty sure if I would take the time to translate them they would match 100% with numerous speeches of Adolf Hitler. Some people will never learn. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  5. You would have been a good ramp doctor in a concentration camp. Pure fascism! Heil Treejump! (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  6. Where, when and how did that happen? (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  7. Bwhahaha... that really cracks me up. What a macho BS! (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)

You're right, it's the US, the UK, and... uuh... the Republic of Poland? [details here] Sorry for being sarcastic, but IMHO it's been an unilateral war in the way that the US and UK decided to "go in", after which a few countries followed, contributing little or no troops. I also remember a resolution that stated that the WMD inspectors should go on with their work in Iraq, as they have done successfully in the years after the Gulf War. Same world as mine, by the way. And even though 9/11 didn't hit my country directly, you'd be surprised how much of a shock this was in Europe, and how many people here have showed solidarity with the United States. Who wouldn't want to rid the world of terrorists? Where I disagree is "how" we do this, or better, how we prevent the creation of new fundamentalists that maybe turn into extremists and terrorists. Believing we can just "exterminate" them is what I call "naive". I stand by that. "the stupid American" is just another of these ridiculous clichees. Like frog-eating frenchies and germans in leather-trousers. Why do so many americans always bring up Hitler if a german criticizes the way the US acts in the world? To answer your question: The world would be in deep shit if the Allied Forces hadn't won WW2. But that's not the issue *today*. Today it's about the unilateral policies of the US and a preemptive war on a country that posed no clear and present danger to the US at the time. And the Hype around the so-called "War On Terror" gives the impression that it's "Good against Evil", and that "the good" could prevail with military means. That's just BS! 10. Are you trying to suggest that being gay is a "perversion" like sodomy? We are humans. Not animals. Simple as that. I don't care what dogs, birds, or fish do. You sound like one... especially with this statement: ... I'm pretty sure you're just that. Relax. Gay people won't hurt you. They won't go for your ass. They won't even ask you for a b*** j**, so no need for you to worry. Let them go about loving hairy asses. Ouch there's that bad word again... "hairy ass" YUCK... how disgusting is that? Maybe we should go and knock on every door and ask married couples if they still use these sexual organs of theirs to BREED. And if their answer is "no", we officially dissolve their marriage. Because a marriages only justification is breeding. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)

How naive is that? Do you still live in that old Nintendo-dream-world where at the end of Level 10 you kill the big Robo-enemy, you get a Hi-Score, go home with the princess and everything will be Lubbydubby forever? Some people just won't understand that the so-called "War on Terror" can NEVER be "won". The wording itself is stupidly polemic and suggesting that it's a "fight" which if fought hard enough, could be won. It's much more complicated than that. 12. Discrimination, right there. It doesn't matter how you word it! Someone here on DZ.com had a signature that read: "With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well." (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  13. I like this one a lot. My grandma gave me my late mothers (died 1981) poetry album just recently. She dedicated these lines to her daughter in 1956 on her 10th birthday: Du weintest einst, als Du die Welt begrüßtest. Translation: You cried once, when You came into this world, but everyone's smile saluted your arrival. May God give, that when you finally close Your eyes, Your eye will smile, although the others cry. It doesn't rhyme in english but hey, I tried. 14. Beautifully written. My compliments! BTW I'd want the same type of funeral if I ever should happen to bounce or die of cancer. No graveyard, no tombstone, no priest please. A nice 10-way star with me "pulling out" (being pulled out, that is) at 10000ft. 15. I will BURN IN HELL! Yeah! Anyone else here who also doesn't regret their flesh-bound sins...? edit4spelling Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  16. ... my parents. Means "Falcon" in old germanic language. Rare name so I was lucky it wasn't already taken on DZ.com. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  17. I second that: How low would I go? The answer is very hypothetical to me, because thankfully everyone (!) I know has a modern AAD (Cypres/Vigil). Sitting comfortably in my chair it's easy to say this: If they didn't have an AAD but I had one, I would try to chase them until my Cypres fires. (And in this case I think I would actually rely on the device to pull for me at the minimum altitude required to save my life.) But then again, maybe I would chicken out at 1500ft and pull silver myself... who know's? 19. Pretty much... I find myself to be helplessly addicted. About the whuffo-family: Hubby *must* do a skydive (tandem), there is no other way he will ever understand. And there is no way you can ever explain the thrill of skydiving. And I'm sure if kids & grandparents come to watch both of you skydiving, you will get a lot less whuffo-talk from them in the future. Hell you might even become the "most cool parents" around. It's amazing what one skydive can do to peoples attitude towards the sport. Sidenote: Sometimes I find it hard to grasp how some whuffos can be so ignorant, even get hysterical about skydiving. For 2 years now I cannot help but putting people into 3 categories: Skydiver, Non-Jumper, Whuffo. Not jumping is not a sin, if you don't like it, so be it. But WHUFFO's really annoy me... 20. Geez that's funny, I thought that of myself when I watched the video of my first 3-way HD-exit. (First time I actually stayed HD for 10 seconds) That look on my face just before exit was so serious, I remember thinking "Relax, have fun". And then it worked... see that smile? Man I had some fun! 21. ... that is, if your carer manages to get it on your head, while you're driveling on his white pants. No offense! Brain damage sucks and in many cases could easily have been avoided by wearing a helmet, or at least a frap hat. I've seen and cared for helpless people, believe me it SUCKS being in a condition like this. It was stunning how a "simple" motorbike accident could turn a young 24 year old into a helpless child for the rest of his life. Please use a helmet or similar. Also to be an example for students. Anything is better than nothing, please give it a thought, 4000 jumps or not. My 2-non-instructor-cents.
  22. I usually get offended if some whuffo says "Well that's a cool hobby you have.". I think things like "You $%&* whuffo, it's not a hobby! It's what I am and do!" No offense to the whuffo... those poor souls just don't know better (yet). And vice versa. I often try to reverse that development, but that seems to be impossible. It's more like the "natural consequence" of skydiving. That's 100% true! I wouldn't necessarily call it "better"... just "totally different". 23. *Bump!* I found this Thread in the DZ.com archive. The article is great... next time I have a whuffo BS'ing me about the dangers of skydiving, I will print it out for them. 24. Had a reserve ride on AFF Level 1 (was my second jump ever, if I count the tandem)! Tension knot on the right side. Started spinning immediately after opening. I pumped the toggles, and tried to inflate the end cells because I thought that was the problem. But it wasn't, the canopy actually looked ok (for the eye of a first jump student). I remember thinking "WTF, it looks nice, so why does it spin???" Continued for something like 5 to 8 revolutions, until I was really sure that "it wasn't me". I didn't check my alti (my bad) but could see the ground, and it looked fairly high (pulled at 1500m). Two handed cutaway, threw, two handed reserve pull, and even brought back the silver like we were trained to do (slipped it over my hand so it would dangle on my right arm). I didn't realise that I had a student RSL, I remember wondering why the reserve was open so quickly (read: instantly) after pulling silver. I walked away happy (though I didn't stand up the landing). The only thing that kinda spoiled my day was the smarta$§ in the packing hall who was laughing at me "Reserve ride on Level 1, you didn't find the toggles huh?". He had not been watching like the instructor on the binoculars who said that I did the right thing. After "coming down" and drinking a coffee I thought about quitting, because I was scared. Went up 3 hours later for AFF Level 2 anyway, and was almost scared to death, thinking about all the other possible malfunctions that could happen. Haven't been so scared in my whole life, and never since. After an uneventful Level 2, my life was just great. Conclusion: I'd say the reserve increased my trust in the equipment and my abilities rather than "scaring me off" the sport. It seemed like a few jumps later I was much less scared than most of my fellow students. Today 2 yrs and 300 jumps later I'm happy that I didn't quit. It's still the best thing to do besides breathing, eating and sex. No more reserve rides up to now. 25. Don't think so. Ouch don't call it that!!! What a harsh word. Don't forget the economics of a Boogie. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
