One that hasn't been mentioned is the part where he goes to Florence and Normandie in Los Angeles. He tries to say how everyone should not be scared of these neighborhoods and that shows like Cops misrepresent these people. I think that is bullshit. First off, he was there during the day. Second, this neighborhood is probably not dangerous to go and sit on a commercial corner in the middle of the day. I would love to see him take a stroll through certain parts of Harlem. Sometimes he goes about proving a point the wrong way. Disclaimer: Do not take any of this as racist, I just saw something that was greatly misrepresented. I like Micheal Moore because he doesn't care what the rich and famous think and he is not worried about offending people but to call this a documentary is offensive.

Yes, I have one. My roomates happened to have a box freezer in the garage already though. I use it for homebrew but for commercial kegs you need a special tap, a co2 tank, and a thermostat control. You can get fancier and drill a hole in the side to put in a tower tap but that is for looks only. The co2 tanks are about $79, thermostat $70, and tap is $35. You could use an old refrigerator too with the thermostat control. The tap is called a "sanke" tap - it allows you to hook up the co2 and beer dispenser with the same tap. Check out this website. They have everything you need. Only one problem is that this tap will only fit american kegs, a different tap is needed for beers like Guiness and Heineken. If you need anything else, just ask.

So sucking at packing is normal at first, right?
sssbc99 replied to schattenjaeger's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yup...same here. I'm not exactly proud of it but we have great packers. One in particular who I'm REALLY going to miss since she's going back to Canada soon. You guys are nuts. At six bucks a pack job, that is a jump wasted for every 3 pack jobs! Once you learn it, you can do it quick and pack it just the way you want so you get a consistently good opening. -
[/url] If you gave the same smoothness and application of inputs, the canopy would behave the same way. It certainly has no idea whatsoever if the wind is blowing or not. What I think is probably really happening is that on a no-wind day you're doing things just a bit differently because you perceive the ground is rushing under your feet and perhaps you're also not matching that speed with your feet. Complete your flair as you normally would and run it out. Not to get off topic but weren't you the one that wrote a thread about the misuse of words? Edit: Nope, it wasn't you.

It's just a guess as I am far from an expert but I would say the shark is probably less dangerous. At least they only kill for food. Bears are territorial. This is not necessarily true. They have not been able to do extensive studies on the territoriality of white sharks but they have found several locations in the world with resident sharks (not that that proves anything). It is so hard to study an animal like this in its natural state (and unnatural state since none have survived extended captivity), but from what I have heard and seen, it seems very likely. What they have found so far, and you are right, is that feeding is based on necessity while attacks on humans are based on mistaken identity since they have been known to seek out the weaker prey. The problem is that this case of mistaken identity will most likely cost you a large chunk of flesh.

I could definitely argue with that. Actually, that shot was most likely taken off the coast of South Africa at a place called Seal Island (I believe). It's one of the only places where Great Whites are known to breach. Anyway, he probably meant land predator. Nice shot though ;-) Good job! You have been watching National Geographic. Anyways, it has nothing to do with breaching. They will eat your ass from any direction. I just thought of it this way; You have two choices: 1. You can be in an open field with a large grizzly twenty feet away, Or 2. You can be in an open body of water with a large whitey twenty feet away. P.S. I have seen them in the water in Northern California and off Guadalupe Island about 250 miles south of San Diego. And I have seen pictures of them "breaching" at the latter of the two. But yes, you were right about the location of the photo.

I could definitely argue with that.

Just to reiterate one point of canuck's. Even though head down is fun and it is the "glamorous" position, it comes with time and lots of practice, AFTER learning to sit fly. Trust, you will be much better off if you just focus on a good head up position.
-
This is probably one of the best things that he said for someone at your stage. When I first started to sit-fly, I thought this is cool, I finally found a good position(what I thought was a good position). I thought I was doing well until I did some two ways and a couple of coach jumps. That was when I realized I was backsliding. With a new sport like this, there are some many new feelings you are dealing with that it is hard to feel what is really going on, even if you have read all of the articles in the world and think that you have fully grasped it. Adrenaline almost always clouds your thoughts and feelings. Another very good point. Keep it in the back of your head that you shouldnt rely on your arms too much.
-
It is not a matter of which one you could learn faster or easier. The head down position is generally much less stable and almost always produces higher speeds than sit flying. The thing is that you dont want to go from your head to your belly and lose a shitload of speed. This causes you to pop "up" relatively or cork. This can be extremely dangerous when jumping with other people. The main point is that you want to have a stable base in your sit so that you have something to go to when your head down attempt isnt really working. Going from your head to medium speed sit will not cause you to lose as much speed as you would if you went to your belly. There is so much involved with this. You need to chat with some experienced freeflyers at your DZ. I am sure they would love to go through safety issues with you. Also I am sure that there are some other people on the forums that will explain it better than I will. I mentioned this because I did not see you in a sit fly position in your video. And once again, not trying to ruin your thread. Edit: And dont trust a chest mounted altimeter in a head down position.
