  1. You could do what I used to do... grab your board and head for Shark Pit or maybe Patrick.
  2. Did the newsman mis-speak or did he quote the note as (approximately) "This is a federal agent and this is what will happen to others who support the cartel." ? That doesn't make much sense to me if it is members of the cartel who are doing the killings.
  3. Not a decision, just an opinion piece printed in Canada. Oops! Whatever it is, I hope it's true! Chuck It's not true. You might want to read posts 13 and 20. from post 13: "...but to make it obligatory only in appropriate cases." A case involving a State vs. the Federal Gov't in a matter of immigration is not necessarily an appropriate case for the SC to be obliged to exercise it's jurisdiction? The cases cited were State vs. State or State vs. City. Edit to add: Does a State vs. Fed Govt. case begin with a lawsuit filed by A.G. Holder or did it begin with the Federal Court decision last month?
  4. Yes, I also thought that Hitler's jewish heritage has long been known. But given the terrible state (caused in large part by their defeat in the 1st WW) of Germany's economy he needed a scapegoat on which to redirect anger and blame. The Jews were already despised by Europe's socialist dictators and by much of the population and so became convenient targets for persecution throughout Europe and the Soviet sphere of influence. Hitler's lust for power and conquest seems to have overshadowed any connection to his heritage or maybe he held some fruitcake-like loathing or hatred toward himself or his mother. White supremist racists who hold Hitler up as their leader-in-kind are either lacking in education about him or are just plain ignoring his roots.
  5. I'd like to see that get through airport security.
  6. I guess that depends on your definition of religion. The belief in a non-diety is the same as a belief in a diety. Hmmmm...... Is the belief in a non-deity the same as non-belief in a deity?
  7. You doing the Celtic design work? Nice!
  8. Cowbell! Well, not really... but I think I could pick it up easy enough.
  9. To do what? That guy voluntarily and against local laws crossed the North Korean border. What are *you* doing with aliens like that crossing your borders? How do you intend to change N. Korean laws for entering borders illegally? Well, *we* give them jobs, medical care, home loans, and other public aid..... no questions asked! Then *we* would confer citizenship upon any of their children who are born here. Wait! he's from Massachusetts? ....We'd probably just turn him over to Jimmy Carter.
  10. My kid doesn't listen to me so I turn to here. Y'all probably don't listen either but I can't tell one way or the other. That.... and I like to pull people's chains and see what happens.
  11. Yep: Rich, Corinthian leather. Ya know.... I really didn't care for that one when it came out, but I figured someone would like it. (Like they say..."there's an ass for every seat") BUT! when Dodge used the same ugly-ass body style for the Charger they completely blew their "advances" in styling and reverted back to the dominance they previously held in crappy design. (IMO) You obviously haven't seen or driven the Challenger.

  13. So . . if they enter into armed combat, what would you call them then? Unless they aren't allowed to combat anyone. (wouldn't surprise me under this pussy admin) Last time I checked, there were "Combatants" and "Non Combatants" . . . maybe all they are allowed are pen and paper and a mop and a broom. Damn! ..... someone didn't get the memo! http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x4513995
  14. Hi. My name is Tony and I'm a guitar-o-holic.
  15. You could always ask the mfr but I do think that I know what their answer would be. Although over the years I have seen a fair number of Pop-Top caps painted. JerryBaumchen .....and a lot of flaps, too!
  16. guitar (so-so flatpicker. bluegrass, irish, etc.), harmonica (badly), sing (very badly). I also love trad Irish and English music and am a long time fan of Paul Brady, Sandy Denny, etc. And folk music from anywhere.
  17. I'm sure the OP meant the Aughts decade. Down here in Lakeland FL we say 'Naughts.
  18. I'll also go with LOTR. Also Walk the Line and O' Brother, Where Art Thou.
  19. I can't see that comparison. Just about all religions I can think of are dependent on faith to some degree. Most carry some reward or penalty on the "other side" based on the level of commitment or adherence to that belief on "this side". I'm not sure what diverup means by "open to possibilities". Some religions require some level of denial of some earthly "possibilities" or experiences. Believers are generally happy to comply with these constraints. Problems occur when the practitioners of that religion require followers of other religions (or non-believers) to comply since that may directly conflict with their beliefs. What I don't understand is, in a society which guarantees "freedom of religion", why an atheist would give a rats patootie whether a believer in a given religion prays or doesn't pray in any place, public or private. Why does it bother them? I think "freedom of religion" is joined at the hip with "freedom of speech" and a public display of faith serves the same purpose as a soapbox...... as long as it doesn't deny another his rights. You really don't have a right to silence anyone but you do have a right to put your hands over your ears (or your kid's ears) and say "lalalalalalalaallalalala! (hastily written.. don't know if I got my point across)
  20. Is Barbara Billingsley still available?
  21. Yep! ...not to mention that "civilians" have an interest in the outcome of any conflict involving their special group and that they (collectively), in some cases, hire" combatants to fight the actual battles although many (most?) are motivated to fight for ideological or existential reasons (i.e. "God and Country" or threat of genocide or loss of "habitat" or expansionism/conquest.)

    Oh My . . .

Maybe they could get a few bucks for those instruments on eB*y and buy some t-shirts. (I'm not going to make any "skinny" comments)
