Exactly. There are aircraft out there capable of hauling MOST of the shit those trucks are hauling. capable yes, cost effective no. if it was more cost effective to move by air, we would be doing just that on all freight. compare air freight charges to ground freight charges...ie fed ex vs. a ground truck ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

I used to drive the show trucks that travel with Nascar, and other big events, and do some freight driving on the side. Couple of weeks ago I was asked if I wanted to do some ice driving..."sure, if the money is right, and paid upfront" was my response. I figure its a good way to pay off another house. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

We have a white boxer, very sensitive to everything...so at one time (still doing this ) we switched to home cooking our dog food. cooked brown rice with blended up chicken, ( cooked in a pressure cooker first to make the bones into mush) with vitamin additives. in the morning, oatmeal with blended cooked chicken livers and eggs, no whites. oatmeal is a great solution to the problem of dogs with lots of gas, such as boxers, rotties, bulldogs, and such. our dogs have been far less aggitated, poop less, great coats, and less scratching. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

she has done some acting too, so when she gets pulled over for doing 82 in a 65, she thinks to herself..."what role should i play here...got it...dumb blond" officer walks up and asks here if she was paying attention to her speed..she replies "actually officer, i was looking for an exit for that mall over there" (we have not been to a mall in 3 years) after running her license...he lets her go.

this is how my wife gets out of ALL her possible speeding tickets...really. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

Glad to hear the data was not critical. If the two 250 drives acted like one 500, it is because there is a special controller in the enclosure. The drives themselves are just regular drives. They may be formatted in a special way by the controller so they look like one drive, but that doesn't matter because you can just reformat them if the data is not important. If they got corrupted is doesn't matter either. You can use them together or apart depending on the enclosure. The case in your link looked like a single 3.5" drive USB case. Are your drives 3.5" and is the mac interface USB? I thought it would be Firewire (IEEE XXXX.x). AFAIK, the enclosures are not specific to either mac or pc as long as the data connection (USB/Firewire) is right, but I'm not certain. I'll look around if there is time. You might look here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822216032 at a new 500g drive for $129. Also, is there space inside the mac case to install one or both of your old drives? EDIT: What's giving our posts the "widebody" effect? ... The maxtor disks are "3.5 series", but the interface is firewire. my main goal here is to find and enclousure, for the drives, (one at a time is ok too) plug them in, and see if my data is there. is the possible? (do you have to reformat drives when switching to a new (different brand) enclosure? if not, i would be happy to reformat the drives if they work, and use them as a combined unit or as singles, or, scrap the drives and buy a new unit. primary goal though is to see if the data is there, without using a data recovery service. what do you think? thanks. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

the data is not at all crucial. i use the drive manly for making video, and then i burn them to DVD. i have talked to a friend, he says i may be able to move the hard drive to a new enclosure, as long as the controler is using the same OS as my current drive? I have a MAC with OS 10.4.1. i have look at enclosures at compusa online...but the seem to only go to 400gb. seen here: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=cat3&product_code=312100&Pn=USB_2_0_3_5_inch_External_Hard_Drive_Enclosure my current set up is 2 250gb maxtor drives (sold as 500gb drive )..working as one? can the work independently?, is one dependent on the other to access the data, once in a new enclosure? thanks. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

My lacie 500gb disk has failed. Called tech support, not under warrenty, they advise a new power supply, ok, got one, no luck. the green light on the power supply is flashing, disk is not turning on. They do not work on out of warrenty product, but suggested that the problem was then most likely in the power distribution board in the unit, and the proper tech would be able to find the problem fairly easy. I have briefly research getting a new drive enclosure and moving the hard drive over...hve never done this...before. any lacie repair peeps out there? should i go with the disk move option? any suggestions? thanks. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

probably not, due to the phot opportunity and scales generally being dockside I thought most sport fishing was "catch and release" these days. So is deep sea fishing a case of killing a spectacularly large animal and throwing it away like garbage after taking pictures? No wonder he's smiling. If that doesn't make him feel like a hero, what would? Walt Count me among the unimpressed. It is (or was) a spectacular fish and she may or may not have bred; sadly, that is no longer an option for her. For the uninformed, virtually all marlin over 250 pounds are female -- it is even regarded as highly likely that they become female once getting over 250. Catching her was a workout and very impressive indeed, but the pointless taking of such fish is highly discouraged by the International Game Fish Association. Most big money tourneys these days are catch, tag, and release. There is even a highly reliable method of determining the fish's weight using length, girth and certain numeric factor (sbout 1.6 or so, bit hazy on it right now) so that it can swim off and the angler can still have his/her bragging rights. Modern taxidermists don't even need the fish to make an accurate and faithful replica for the wall. For all its beauty, Hawaii is in the dark ages regarding billfish; most other places, including Central and South America have gone to c-t-r. Maybe they'll learn when they can't find any. When I got my first Atlantic sailfish, I passed on getting a replica mount made for the same reason as the OP, but TLML had a poster size photo made for me for that Christmas and it is sitting proudly on the wall to my right as I type this; she was last seen swimming in the direction of Cuba. We love catching fish for the table, particularly dolphin (mahi-mahi) and wahoo, but not bills. Congratulations on your catch, but boo, hiss to the captain. first, let me state that i am not a bleeding heart, left wing, and i support our nuclear program. now, that being stated...what the fuck, destroying a fish like that, and not even using the meat. rediculas! i grew up the last of 8 kids. my dad hunted pig and dear, we took about 2 or 3 of each a year, had them butchured, and put the meat in the freezer in the garage...it made sense. used every usable part. and, when hunting, we let some go, to preserve the stock. edited: well, i have been told i cant say here what i really want to say...so i will just say this...you "took" life...for pleasure. let me justify my response by saying....just my 2 cents...likely the value of this guys soul. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

sounds like a case of "fungus-among-gus". when you clean the pads, make sure you clean the bottom of the unit too. and, if the pads are old, repace them. further, if you run it alot, and the humidity is right, you might have something growing in the duct work. good luck. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

the only thing holding you back is you. problem is MOST people dont have the patience for it. ---------------------------------------------------- i once heard someone say, "if you do something for 15 minutes, everyday...and i mean everyday, in one year, you should pretty good at it." ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

skydiving is better that being, to use an old phrase, being "bored to death." tell you professor to do something useful with his mathematical mind...like taking VEGAS! yeah baby! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

those pictures are very cool...I only wish the crackheads spraypainting people's private property would take a lesson from this, and not permantly mark every wall, fence, tree, bush, toliet seat, post, cars, trucks, windows, (especially the ones on the houses i build!)...we dont want to see your shitty gang banging initials all over everything! i hearby declare open season on taggers. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
