I don't think you need a transponder to get in and out of Class D airspace, just establish 2-way radio communications. You need a transponder for Class C airspace, and you need a transponder if you are within 30 miles of a class B tower regardless of what airspace you are in. what if you are flying an older plane, not originally equiped with a transponder...are you grandfathered in, or are you simply not allowed in Class C? Maybe you have to file a preflight plan? ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

I fly a weight shift trike, which I just converted to an E-LSA. I can now fly into airports that are funded by the FAA, under the limits of sport pilot...VFR, daytime, minimum visibility requirements. My understading also is that for me to fly into an airspace, I need to be rated for that airspace, and, to fly in certain areas, I have to have a transponder. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

Got a call from a friend this morning. At work, there is a guy with a broken thumb, seems this happen on deployment when his thumb was inserted or got stuck in a PVC tube style deployment handle. Jumper is ok, very very painful at flair time. I was told that the rig was not what jumper usually jumped. This is third hand knowledge, I was not there. Anymore infor out there? but i feel that if it does not "give out" too quickly...thus resulting in too much inventory, that might be benifical to the market. i have also started seeing more adds from lenders, to get people on fixed mortages. funny though, these are the same lenders that gave them the ARM. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

I am a general contractor building spec homes in southern cal. Yeah, times are tough, how ever, the fact that i was making insane profits two years ago, it is understandable how the market it correcting itself. what really has changed is that people that shouldnt have purchased homes, now can not purchase homes due to the vitrual elimination of the sub prime mortages...this was a large percentage of my customers. but california also had two years of 20% + increase in home prices, so a 15 to 20 % correction is not bad, in fact, its normal. and i would rather build in a "normal" market, where I can acuratley forecast the selling price, than a volitile market. am i worried, not really. anyway, if i cant work...its more time to play.

not to bag on anyone, but what is so hard about taking your gear home? i have one bag for my cameras, and another for my rig...just flopp them in the back of the jeep and go...no problems, no worries. good to hear your rig was convered though. now if you have 3 or 4 rigs...thats another story. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him? -

wow, that is alot of panels! that seems like a good price...i have to get with you sometime as i get closer to building. my land is about 1600 ft from power. even though i can trench and back fill myself, edision will have to pull the line...and that alot of conductor to pay for...so i have been thinking that i may go full off the grid for now. not sure yet. someone told me the other day that edison is no longer buying power back if you spin your meter backwards, you can only zero out your bill...is this true? i am located in the high desert, Silverwood lake area, off hwy 138. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
