In the long run, Wise choice.... IF you get a good job, its a wise choice. I've been at this too long to see to many houses built wrong by so called "Pros" its not hard, its time consuming. 3-4 years? hmm. as a GC, we are obligated to warranty the home for 10 years. I've done all my own tile, and no call backs. Just take your time, you can do it...unlike other people around here. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

its the house i am living in...and its a total rehab, foundation cracks, uneven original pour, doing it right takes time dumb ass. sorry to take so long, we're kind of busy selling all the REPOS up here, . when you learn how to successfully make money building houses, like I do, then you can have an opinion. if you would like a house built new, I can usually do that in 5 months, from graded to locking the door. go ride your silly bike. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

well. everyone here seems to say hire a pro. i say go the other way. ok, so this is how it is. i build houses. finding a GOOD finish tile guy is hard. i hired young and old, some with lots of experience, some with none. not really happy with anyone. so, i started doing it myself. i figured that if i did not pay myself labor, i could do the job 3 times over if i fucked it up for the same price of hiring somebody to usually fuck it up. so, if you have the time, thats the kicker, go for it. and if it comes out bad, rip it out and do it again, then again. you'll get it right, and will ultimately be happy. just got done laying 800 SF of floor tile in my latest house...took a month...but i took my time, and it looks great! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

Well from previous posts about college football there are quite a few people on here who do watch. So this thread was obviously not directed at the likes of you ok! really though, i do watch the news, and the "bowl" system is just....dumb. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

Forget your Prozac today??? Attitude, mentality, productivity, etc,... is contagious. I can't tell you how often I can walk through the hospital from one floor or unit to another and notice the changes in attitude from each floor or unit compared to the next. This is probably most noticeable in the work place. One person goes to the next bitching about their job, and in return the next person, and so on and so on. I wasn't joking about the Prozac... Your statements above that I highlighted can label you by 'textbook' depressed. Start with not watching the news each and every day, and skydive more often. NBC national news was running, and still does sometimes, a segment at the end of the news called "making a difference." This was in response from people communicating to NBC that the news was all bad. So they started running some stories about people helping people, people doing the right thing, and such. It actually is good, and it makes me feel just a bit, just, a bit, ok with humanity. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

when we got married in a skydiving wedding, a cold snap came through florida. my wife rode up to altitude with a fleece on over her leather wedding jumpsuit, and pocket warmers on her boobs! worked great! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

how do you "fold" a string? (as in string thong). i usually toss my wifes up on the be post so the boxers dont take it outside and play tug of war with it.

so after the boxers went...the house was quiet, clyde just lying around. so we went and saved some boxer pups. they were at a breeders house, but no one wanted them due to the scar on Sunny head, and Sky (the brindle) had a nose problem (an easy fix with some nip and tuck surgery). They kept Clyde company. And on the night before he passed, they all ate together, and went out to the grass to roll on their backs, as Clyde did with Spike and Daisy. We call it the after dinner roll. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

Seeing the pic, and reading this made us cry. We lost both of our babies (boxers) last year, and my old buddy, a border collie...our whole pack. Our white boxer Spike (10)to an insilinoma tumor, Daisy (8) our fawn to a heart attack, and good old clyde to old age, 15. Boxers are very different than other dogs, they act human. No, not just cause I like them, they do. My border collie mix was my best friend, but, he was a border collie in all aspects. You did the right thing, you kept him from hurting, and loved him all his life. You are strong, and he is lucky to have had you as a friend and keeper. It is so hard for me to type this. i added a pic of our pack that has move on... ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
