the cross keys skyvan hit their hour limit? I jumped close the the limit then. I may come to the boogie this year as it has been great fun the other times and there is surf, too! You'll probably find an otter somewhere--brib them with beautiful beaches and warm air-- MUFF #3384, DIRTY SANCHEZ #28(Chief Recruiting Officer), FALLING GATOR #7801-A, POPS #10957, FLYING HELLFISH #847, HISPAS #79, SRA #9229, Surfador Rodrigues

Selecting an instructor at Sky Dive Miami?
jguy904 replied to AEsco48's topic in Safety and Training
Until u try one u have no basis for judgement---once you begin training simply ask yourself if this instructor makes you feel comfortable and confident? if yes, stick with him/her--if no, request a change. Remember--you are the customer-- I jumped with 2 different ones--both very high end and well known skydivers-- one was a former USPA president and frankly he did not make me "warm and fuzzy" so I stuck with the other one for all of my training jumps because I felt more comfortable and confident with him and his teaching style-- all of your instructors are "qualified", but they all have different styles-- MUFF #3384, DIRTY SANCHEZ #28(Chief Recruiting Officer), FALLING GATOR #7801-A, POPS #10957, FLYING HELLFISH #847, HISPAS #79, SRA #9229, Surfador Rodrigues -
soccer is a great game and really big at the youth level in the usa--however--it will never be big commercially in the us as it is EVERYWHERE else in the world unless it can take off on the professional level with big salaries which will attract the best athletes--this is very difficult since it most compete with football, baseball, and basketball in the us--most other places don't have so much competition for the money--also soccer requires very little money to play for fun--so it is open to more people worldwide. that's one of the great things about it and what makes it so popular. of course, it will never compete with jumping! Holiday to Australia ! But where to jump ?
jguy904 replied to lintern's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I spent Feb in Oz on holiday and did a bunch of jumping at Picton (Sydney). I also jumped at Coff's Harbor and Byron Bay. Picton far and away has the most of everything re: jumping. The people were really friendly and I had a great time--can't wait to return-- MUFF #3384, DIRTY SANCHEZ #28(Chief Recruiting Officer), FALLING GATOR #7801-A, POPS #10957, FLYING HELLFISH #847, HISPAS #79, SRA #9229, Surfador Rodrigues -
Byron Bay is really cool with a caravan and a great view (right on the beach), but that may be a bit far for u. it is south of brisbane 2-3 hours? during the week there probably won't be many fun jumpers-- MUFF #3384, DIRTY SANCHEZ #28(Chief Recruiting Officer), FALLING GATOR #7801-A, POPS #10957, FLYING HELLFISH #847, HISPAS #79, SRA #9229, Surfador Rodrigues

Skydive Elsinore VS Skydive San Diego
jguy904 replied to FlyingJarhead's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I live in Florida and have only jumped at Elsinore (which was great). My general observation though has been that as a student you will get more personalized attention at smaller "family type" dz's--this is only my observation and not a hard rule-- checking into the quality of the student gear is very prudent-- the issue regarding the winds is a very big consideration for a novice (and experienced jumpers, too) don't underestimate it-- MUFF #3384, DIRTY SANCHEZ #28(Chief Recruiting Officer), FALLING GATOR #7801-A, POPS #10957, FLYING HELLFISH #847, HISPAS #79, SRA #9229, Surfador Rodrigues -

Puerto Rico has a boogie in Feb which is great with all jumps near or on the beach (your choice). But as advised--build some more experience--you are jumping bigger airplanes with more canopies in the air--beach jumps are inherently more risky than landing at a big airports, etc.. to make it a real challenge--make this competition in freefall--afterall, this is a skydiving event (although that fact is getting lost in these posts) MUFF #3384, DIRTY SANCHEZ #28(Chief Recruiting Officer), FALLING GATOR #7801-A, POPS #10957, FLYING HELLFISH #847, HISPAS #79, SRA #9229, Surfador Rodrigues -

i think if u checked your facts: the new manager has a different attitude than the previous manager (rip) regarding fun jumpers. the 206 will be going to 13000 (not 10.5) rather quickly (the 206 has a new and big engine). making comments based on experiences from 2 years ago is very outdated and simply no longer the case. personally, i drive farther to get bigger planes and more fun jumpers, but look at this dz for what it is now--not what it may have been. I expect with the new plane there will be much more opportunity for fun jumpers who ARE WELCOMED PER MY CHAT WITH THE CURRENT MANAGER TODAY. freedom of choice is a wonderful thing. ALL dz's give priority to tandems--Jax, Palatka, whereever--they don't make money off fun jumpers----Fun jumpers get the slots left over--the plane determines how many that is--if a dz has only one 182 flying a fun jumpers expectations should be quite low--with a 206 there will be more capacity--so maybe more fun jumping--I have 100 jumps at Jax and many more in Titusville and Palatka and I have only had positive experiences with all of these dz's and dzo's. Don't bash tandems--they are paying the way for all of us MUFF #3384, DIRTY SANCHEZ #28(Chief Recruiting Officer), FALLING GATOR #7801-A, POPS #10957, FLYING HELLFISH #847, HISPAS #79, SRA #9229, Surfador Rodrigues

max capacity is very cramped and it is very loud. i just jumped one in australia--however, it has a big door and gets the job done with a fair climb rate-- MUFF #3384, DIRTY SANCHEZ #28(Chief Recruiting Officer), FALLING GATOR #7801-A, POPS #10957, FLYING HELLFISH #847, HISPAS #79, SRA #9229, Surfador Rodrigues
