I see where you are coming from if you doing your exit count and your acquaintance/friend asked you for your “Next of Kin” contact info… But if you are not 3 seconds from exiting, I agree with everyone else, there is no reason not to discuss these scenarios/preferences. If someone can’t discuss these topics, then they have no business BASE jumping. I personally will not jump with someone that is simply an acquaintance to me, especially high profile and technical jumps. I have personally been in two contrasting situations when shit hits the fan. The first situation being that everyone overcomes the challenge smoothly. The second situation with me cursing all the way to turn myself in because the rest of the crew was arrested and my car was in seized by the cops. The whole reason the first situation went so well is because we discussed every aspect of the jump prior to ever standing at exit point. I have also been unlucky enough to witness a close friend die on a BASE jump. Because I don’t jump with just acquaintances and that we do discuss every aspect of what were doing and what were getting into, I will never have to guess if my friend’s death was a waste or not… So long story short… I will never be in a situation of leaving someone behind that is hurt, dead or alive, because I will never jump with someone that cannot discuss BASE or cannot accept the consequences of every jump that they do. For pin extraction, thinking of Dynamic Force, I would vote for snatch. My bottom pin tends to be tighter than the top. For canopy extraction, thinking of Center Cell Stripping, I would vote for drag. Overall, I just want those damn pins to extract in a timely manner... So my overall vote is snatch... BATMAN - (A.K.A. It's not the fines or the jail time that I care about... It's the gear confiscation that bothers me… Because I didn’t have a second rig when I got busted, I was out of the game for 3 months hoping and waiting to get my gear returned. If I was busted in the states they would have definitely kept my gear. So all in all, for me it has nothing to do with being paranoid about being busted and fined… My paranoia is how long it will take a gear manufacturer to make new gear. Thankfully, I finally solved that problem by buying a second rig. But I have to be honest, my rigs are like kids to me… If one of my kids died, I wouldn’t just turn to my wife and say, “Bend over babe, we’ve got to make replacement for little Johnny…” BATMAN - (A.K.A. I have just been informed by Tom via a PM that if I wouldn’t have attacked his buddy PhreeZone , he would have pulled the post at my request. That reply from Tom has further validated how much common sense is lacking here. People, just because these guys are not in your crew doesn’t mean their not your BASE brothers. So don’t take learning a petty lesson over the legal pain you’re going to cause them with this post and your replies. Tom-- Come on now Tom… You and I know that it’s the job of the person who made this object hot to notify the local population. But if you arguing that this notifies others outside the local group, then this is their bad for not first contacting the locals… So all in all, the only thing that could possibly be is the usual, “contact the locals” before you jump! The person that posted this… Why would you post this? And you that have replied… Why would you reply to this post? Taunt the cops and you only make you life worse in the future when they bust you! Why post an article like this that only helps the cops do their job. It’s only going to take one dipshit, with a detailed profile, that want’s to brag that they know these guys to get these guys busted. So why post this information?
