+1 on the vitamin D. I used to get mild depression during the winter months, not a problem in the last few years since I started taking a supplement. Although exercise and social engagement are even more important IMHO. A dog might help as well. Dog walking is good exercise and it never hurts to have buckets of unconditional love.

Skydive Happy Valley. Less cost, more efficient at a Cessna DZ, not as steep of a learning curve as AFF and after jump eight, it is pretty much the same as other methods.

can't renew USPA membership - foreign address
brenthutch replied to eaglex's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have tried to renew our DZ's membership twice now and have been unable to do so. I might try again after our season windes down. -
Stuck on PLFs: How to Retrain the Brain?
brenthutch replied to jumpgump's topic in Safety and Training
Have someone dress up in BDUs, put on a black baseball hat with a gold SSG insignia on the front. During your next jump he will yell at you not to do a PLF through a loudspeaker as you descend. If you still perform a PLF have him run up to you and yell "AIRBORNE!!!, next time you fail to perform a proper stand up landing, I will rip off your f**king arm and shove it up you ass!!!!" You will be cured in about five jumps. -
What is up with yeah no? Did it replace um as a delay mechanism? And what the hell does "yeah no" even mean? Is it yes, is it no is it neither or is it both. (To riff on Dr Seuss)

That makes sense given that the tandem V2 is just a big Vector II.

Eschew Obfuscation Two atoms are walking down the street. Whoa! Exclaimed the one atom. I think I just lost an election. "Are you sure?," asked the other atom. The first atom replied, "I'm positive." A lot of people don't know this, but I am actually quite famous. A priest, a rabbi and a midget walk into a bar, the bartender looks up and says, "what is this some kind of joke?"

99.??% will never make another jump in their lives. If you give them the option of pulling and they fail, there is the chance the will feel they did not do well. Let them fly the canopy by themselves instead.

+++1 I use ACUs, with a cordura reinforced butt, and slid some padding in the knee pouches. 500 jumps before they disintegrated, and I was able to save the cordura butt patch for their replacement.

Anybody see their new commercial? During the skydiving clip the altimeter read ZERO.

Daily Caller is not a peer reviewed science journal. It's a right wing alt-fact source, and quoting it just makes you look bad. Still suffering from a case of message/messenger inversion and that makes me sad. Maybe this will help you out. https://thsresearch.files.wordpress.com/2017/04/ef-data-research-report-second-editionfinal041717-1.pdf

So you agree with the notion "the notion of a successful private enterprise is such an anathema to the left that they never stood a chance." According to you, left wing radio is beset by executive malfeasance while right wing radio is the paragon of morality?
-
No, if you want to be slathered in issues of LGTBQA, climate change, identity politics and redistributive economics, we have our forum with NPR. My question is: if NPR goes away, will a for profit outlet take its place?
-
I'll agree that people like Diane Rheem, and now Joshua Johnson, along with a few of the more local talk show hosts are on the progressive side. But NPR also has a hard news function. With flagship shows like Morning Edition and All Things Considered. These are the heart of the network and are the best and most evenly produced news shows I've heard on any network. They are at least on par with the BBC, and far superior to the CBC. The same could be said about FOX news.
-
I listen to NPR, I like NPR. I am not bitching about anything. I am wondering if NPR crowds out for profit left wing radio, or if the notion of a successful private enterprise is such an anathema to the left that they never stood a chance.

What part of, "Last week, NPR's own official ombudsman, Jeffrey Dvorkin, admitted a liberal bias in NPR's talk programming" don't you understand?
-
NPR calls itself left wing. To put it in a way you might understand, NPR IDENTIFIES as left wing/progressive.
-
Definitely not like Jessica Rabbit Can you cite anything on the radio that is more left wing than Democracy Now? "Last week, NPR's own official ombudsman, Jeffrey Dvorkin, admitted a liberal bias in NPR's talk programming. The daily program "Fresh Air with Terry Gross" - a 60-minute talk show about the arts, literature, and also politics - airs on 378 public-radio stations across the fruited plain. Gross recently became a hot topic on journalism Web sites for first having a friendly, giggly interview with "satirist" Al Franken"
-
NPR is definitely left wing. Have you ever listened to Democracy Now or Fresh Air? BTW I love Terry Gross, she sounds like Jessica Rabbit looks.

Can the abysmal track record and general failure of left wing talk radio be attributed the presence of NPR?
