Tesla subsidies went away and for a Christmas present wind and solar loose their subsidies https://www.wind-watch.org/news/2019/12/27/wind-solar-face-future-without-subsidies/

It was a joke, I forgot that you lefties are bereft of humor. Don't forget to say your ten hail Greta's and have a good new year.

Or don't let a dude stick his penis up your butt if you are a dude. A simple behavioral modification.

Please explain just how a carbon offset is not a form of dispensation. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/dispensation

Looks like no; "Harrison Ford is one of Hollywood’s most famous climate crusaders. He owns multiple extravagant homes, plus a reported 12 private planes, nine motorcycles, and six gasoline-powered automobiles. His private plane collection includes two gas-guzzling corporate jets. Even though his opulent lifestyle depends upon copious amounts of fossil fuel energy, he speaks forcefully about his commitment to fighting climate change." "Flying is like good music; it elevates the spirit and it’s an exhilarating freedom. I’m so passionate about flying I often fly up the coast for a cheeseburger." H.F. AKA typical climate crusader hypocrite.

Wendy, did you know that 6000-12,000 people died in the Galveston hurricane of 1900? Long before global warming, people were dying from natural disasters. In the last hundred years, development fueled by fossil fuels, has resulted in a reduction in weather related deaths by >90%. The deaths from Katrina and Maria were not a result of unprecedented super storms, they died because local governments were ineffective and corrupt. A vastly more powerful storm hit the Bahamas, resulting in only 70 deaths.

I am making it my New Year resolution to tone down my sardonicism.

I am not talking about "judgmental elitist liberal assholes", I am talking about people like my Aunt, whose life found new meaning when she joined in on the climate crusade. She has gone to DC to protest and to lobby (she lives in Wisconsin), she has written several op eds that have been published in the local paper, she proselytizes me with the earnestly of someone concerned for my immortal soul. She is not alone. The former head of the IPCC, Rajendra Pachauri said " "For me, the protection of planet Earth, the survival of all species and sustainability of our ecosystems is more than a mission. It is my religion and my dharma." That sentiment has been echoed by thousands of others including Harrison Ford and Prince Charles to name a couple.

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
brenthutch replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Image Sources: Donchyts et al., 2016 and BBC (press release) I. Despite sea level rise, “the coasts are growing all over the world” Sea levels aren’t rising fast enough to deleteriously affect coastal areas on a net global scale. Satellite observations indicate there has been 13,565 km2 of net growth in land area across the globe’s coasts between 1985-2015. In other words, the Earth’s coasts gained more land area than were lost to rising sea levels." Looks like the Tuvaluans have a local problem -
No its more than that. I read somewhere else that the belief in man made global warming is the preferred religion of urban atheists. It has some of the same hallmarks. Think about it, aren't carbon offset purchases just another form of dispensation? Don't climate change protests remind you of an old fashioned tent revival? Isn't ones carbon footprint (we all have one) the same as original sin? What is a carbon tax if not a form of tithing? The belief in something invisible yet very powerful? Just listen to Greta's preaching, it makes the old Testament look like a children's bedtime story.

Call it Climatism. Like any religion worthy of the name, it comes with its own catechism (what to believe) and eschatology (how the world will end). Thunberg’s bible is the latest report of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which gives us 12 years to save civilization as we know it." Now I know why some folks are so dug in on this global warming thing. Telling them there is no such thing as CAGW (catastrophic anthropogenic global warming) , is akin to telling RonD1120 there is no God.

It depends, if the tariffs are directed at a single country (China) it may redound to the benefit of other countries (Viet Nam and Mexico), not just domestic producers. As the tariffs are being implemented currently, that is the case. We are diversifying rather than consolidating our supply chain. (Econ 601)

No, but a routine stop for a broken headlight does/can/will result in a questioning which can lead to a search which may end up as a vehicular disassembly.
-
Uh, Bill tariffs raise prices and REDUCE demand, it's kind of their thing. The tariffs reduce demand and slow the economy, deregulation and lower taxation stimulate it.
-
Wages are going up now, no need for a government boondoggle. Besides, creating an artificial demand for labor in this market would be highly inflationary, forcing the Fed to raise interest rates and plunging us into recession.
-
With the record low unemployment, we don't have enough workers to fill the jobs created by new industries. BTW we now export oil and gas.
-
Yes, the tariffs are a drag on the economy however you cannot view them in isolation. One has to take into account the simulative effect of the tax cuts and deregulation. As a whole, Republican economic policies have proven to be beneficial. (hence the unprecedented economic expansion and record low unemployment) The tariffs are tapping the breaks on what might otherwise be an overheating economy. We are not imposing tariffs on Chinese goods because it is fun, they are a tool to improve our trade balance, diversify our supply chain and protect our intellectual property rights.

The man used a shotgun, a shotgun. A ban on AR15s and high capacity magazines would have had no impact on the outcome. However a law banning the carrying of a firearm in a place of worship would have made things much worse. Classic case of a "good guy with a gun"

Have you ever considered that God was protecting his flock with an armed security team? It reminds me of the joke where a man, trapped by a flooding river, turns down help from a firetruck, saying "god will save me", then turns down help from a boat, again saying "god will save me". Finally the man, trapped on the roof of his quickly flooding house, turns away a rescue helicopter, saying "god will save me". The man ultimately drowns. He is before God at the pearly gates and asks. "God why didn't you save me?" to which God replies "I sent a firetruck, a boat and a helicopter, what more did you want?"

LOL, first heard the Russian Peasant Joke, thirty years ago in school. It revels the thinking/emotion behind the "income inequality" movement. Nothing more than a bunch of bitter, resentful, selfish, children.
